Stable control of the iron-making process through the adjustment of operating parameters is essential to improve blast furnace productivity. However, due to the complex and dynamic nature of the reaction process, it is difficult to perform accurate modeling and simulation experiments for a blast furnace. this poses great difficulties in performing the evaluation of control strategies in real-time. Offline evolutionary optimization, as an optimization technique that relies only on historical data, enables the search for optimal operation parameters through the introduction of surrogates. Based on the characteristics of historical time-series data of the iron-making process, this study proposes an offline evolutionary optimization method based on advanced time-series surrogates. Ensemble strategy combining surrogates with different prediction time windows contributes robustness during the optimization process. Additionally, multiple sub-regions are maintained to enable extensive searching of the decision space with a multi-objective nature. the efficiency of the proposed pooling method is demonstrated through verification in actual production cases.

the concept of extracting energy from the human body to recharge depleted energy sources has gained significant attention. Recently, scientists have focused on harnessing biomechanical energy from the human body while walking. the aim of this study is to optimize a piezoelectric bending beam-based human knee energy harvester to enhance performance. Specifically, the shape of the bending beam (the substrate: a carbon fiber plate) is optimized to modulate the deformation, such that the average strain of the piezoelectric macro fiber composites (MFC) attached to the bending beam is improved to generate more electricity. In addition, the effects of the substrate's thickness and the hinge base's height for the bending beam on the output power are also analyzed. Experimental testing on a subject is conducted to validate our design and test the performance. the harvester generates an average power output of 24.55 mW when walking at 4 km/h on a treadmill. the harvester's total weight is 278g. © 2023 IEEE.

In everyday life, it is possible for people to need public services. What is meant by public services in this research are health, security, protection, and assistance services that threaten the safety of people's lives. Public services are needed by the community in every normal or emergency incident that must receive life-saving services as soon as possible, and every service that will be provided is not necessarily the same for all communities. this is because the incident, rescue needs, and location of the victim may vary, such as the occurrence of health problems, traffic accidents, crime incidents, and fires. this research uses the concept of 'Smart Health and Safe City' which aims to optimize the smart public service model using linear programming to reduce the number of deaths by utilizing hospital agencies' limited resources to provide treatment as soon as possible, police agencies, fire agencies and Basarnas agencies, where when going to carry out public services, medical (m), police (p), fire brigade (f), and Basarnas (b) depart from the hospital location (ih), police location (ip), fire extinguisher location (if), and Basarnas location (ib) to location of victim (j) to provide public services in order for the modeling's output to address the issue of delivering intelligent services as early as possible which can reduce the number of deaths, minimize costs incurred, minimize service time and maximize resource utilization. possible, as well as obtaining the maximum value of the model's objective function. the simulation results, the maximum value of the objective function was obtained at 164,00000 at the 20th iteration step and produced a model that minimized the arrival time at the location of the service recipient. © 2023 IEEE.

the present study deals with the optimization of performance for a hybrid-electric propulsion system. It focuses on the modeling and power management frameworks, while evaluation is done on a single flight basis. the main objective is to extract the maximum out of the novel powertrain archetype. Two hybridization factors are considered. the pair helps to describe the degree of hybridization at the power supply and power consumption levels. their revised mathematical definition facilitates a unique method of hybrid-electric propulsion system modeling, that maximizes the conveyed amount of information. An in-house computational tool is developed. It employs a genetic algorithm optimizer in the interest of managing power usage during flight. Energy consumption is set as the objective function. the operation of a 19-seater, commuter aircraft is investigated. Turbo-electric, series-hybrid, parallel-hybrid and series-parallel variants are derived from a generic composition. An analysis on their optimized performance, with different technological readiness levels for 2020 and 2035, is aimed at identifying where each system performs best. Considering 2020 technology, it does not yield a viable hybrid-electric configuration, without suffering significant payload penalties. Architectures relying on mechanical propulsors show promise of 15% reduction to energy consumption, accounting for 2035 readiness levels. the concepts of Boundary Layer Ingestion and Distributed Propulsion display the potential to boost electrified propulsion. the series-hybrid and series-parallel configurations are the primary beneficiaries of these concepts, displaying up to 30% reduction in fuel and 20% reduction in energy consumption.

Existing approaches to recognition of text information from user documents in client-server systems were analyzed in order to solve the problem of user identification. the comparative analysis of the Optical Character Recognition library using Tesseract Engine and Paddle Optical Character Recognition was carried out. the feasibility and effectiveness of using Paddle Optical Character Recognition for analyzing documents with Chinese characters was substantiated. the text processing model was proposed to highlight valuable information and form the dictionary, which will be transmitted to the system server. Its effectiveness was verified on test data and the adequacy of the model was assessed based on Character Error Rate and Word Error Rate (CER and WER). In contrast to existing approaches, the model showed the increase in text recognition accuracy by 1.8-11.3%, depending on the quality of the source image. the result is implemented in client-server applications for product solutions of Zhejiang Jimi IoT Technology Co., Ltd. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS) are fundamental assets for the energy transition. their main application concerns the fast regulation of the imbalances present in the electric power system. Nevertheless, service stacking is essential to enhancing the profits generated by BESS. Arbitrage in sequential energy markets represents an economically promising option. the volatility in electricity market prices experienced in recent years requires new strategies for market traders. this work exploits two distinct mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) formulations: a stochastic optimization and a deterministic Monte Carlo-based optimization. the scope is to investigate the profits that arbitrage could generate for a BESS in sequential energy markets. A linearised variable efficiency is adopted to represent the BESS performance accurately: empirical data characterize the behaviour of the BESS in the function of power and state of charge. the bidding strategy for sequential markets has been tested on data relevant to the 2023 Italian scenario. On average, the models developed granted profits for 80.2 % of the scenarios tested.

We examine the modeling, simulation, and optimization of district heating systems, which are widely used for thermal transport using steam or hot water as a carrier. We propose a generalizable framework to specify network models and scenario parameters, and develop an optimization method for evaluating system states including pressures, fluid flow rates, and temperatures throughout the network. the network modeling includes pipes, thermal plants, pumps, and passive or controllable loads as system components. We propose basic models for thermodynamic fluid transport and enforce the balance of physical quantities in steady-state flow over co-located outgoing and return networks. We formulate an optimization problem with steam and hot water as the outgoing and return carriers, as in legacy 20th century systems. the physical laws and engineering limitations are specified for each component type, and the thermal network flow optimization (TNFO) problem is formulated and solved for a realistic test network under several *** Codes 76N25, 90C26, 34B45 © 2024, CC BY.

the paper provides methods of axial fan noise reduction and considers the results of calculation studies of the fan tonal noise. the tonal noise related to the rotational and interaction noise has 15–20 dB higher levels than the broadband turbulent and vortex noises, and therefore, it has the most annoying impact. A finite element model of the cooling system fan has been developed. the noise was calculated with the microphone located in the near field and the speed of the cooling fan being 2142 rpm. Goldstein analogy was used for modeling and further optimization in terms of tonal noise. Parametric optimization for tonal noise reduction was performed. the number of blades and the angles between blades were chosen as variables. More than 20 options of the cooling system fans were considered. the best design in terms of the tonal noise of the blade among the ones included in this article is the seven-blade fan. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

this paper presents a modular, parasitic-aware, process agnostic design and verification procedure. the procedure utilizes theSyDeKick simulation and verification framework in combination with Berkeley Analog Generator (BAG). BAG is utilized to programmatically construct the schematic and layout in order to provide the parasitic component information for the algorithmic optimization procedure. this enables the most accurate definition of transistor sizing parameters to obtain the desired linearity, speed and noise performance. As the generation, extraction and design procedures are fully automated, this remarkably speeds up the design exploration. the presented procedural optimization is extensible to wide range of analog building blocks, and the effectiveness of method is demonstrated in context of a single-stage operational transconductance amplifier (OTA). the proposed method incorporates an algorithm that automatically sizes the design to achieve minimal current consumption for a given speed specification and provides a manufacturing-ready circuit implementation. the algorithm is demonstrated to effectively converge on final designs for various speed specifications with two distinct semiconductor processes.
