Control allocation is a fundamental task to achieve efficient distribution of the control effort in an over-actuated mechanical system. the conventional approach to tackle this problem is to assume that the actuator’s dynamics are negligible with respect to the rest of the system so that the problem can be posed as a static allocation task. In the field of aircraft ground handling, the actuators used to steer the aircraft might have significantly different dynamics, being also subject to delays, thus invalidating the static allocation assumptions. In this paper, we propose using a Model Predictive Control Allocation (MPCA) strategy to cope with the actuator’s dynamics. An analytical model of a tricycle landing gear aircraft is derived and used to pose the control allocation problem. then, the MPCA optimization problem is formulated and successfully evaluated in a validated multibody simulator for a target aircraft against a static allocation strategy. the results show that the MPCA is effective in preventing instabilities induced by delays and rate limits in the actuators, as well as in ensuring superior tracking performance.

We consider a warehouse where loads are transported by a fleet of elementary robots that can be aggregated to form poly-robots. the poly-robots can be reconfigured over time to adapt to load types such as boxes and pallets. Reconfigurable poly-robots offers several advantages: adaptability to load type and environment, failure tolerance, stability and maneuverability. We study the problem of scheduling such a fleet with the objective to minimize the time to execute all transportation tasks. We propose an integer linear programming formulation for the problems with or without reconfiguration. We show that reconfigurability can reduce significantly the execution time. We also establish that the special case with a single type of load can be solved in polynomial time. We end by showing how to extend the mathematical formulation to transportation times that depend on load type and configuration.

this paper addresses the multicriteria problem of choosing a rational solution when designing complex devices on the example of integrated radar and communication system (IRCS) operating in a changing environment. the mathematical model is built as a multicriteria system for making optimal decisions, with particular criteria being divided into three subsets characterizing "costs", "efficiency" and "reliability". A "design-action" approach is proposed, in which weighting coefficients of particular criteria relative importance are assigned within each group independently at the design stage of the device. Further, in the process of functioning (operation) of the technical system, based on the results of the environment analysis, relative importance between the three gropus of particular criteria is automatically determined and optimal functioning parameters are calculated. Relative importance weights, both at the design stage and at the action stage, can be assigned as exact values or calculated on the principle of a guaranteed result using the user’s qualitative preferences. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the third generation partnership project (3GPP) has outlined ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) essential to ensure enhanced network dependability under stringent latency constraints. A transmission scheme known as configured grant (CG) transmission, defined in 3GPP Release 15, allows devices to compete for resources and transmit their data without explicit permission in a specified time budget. In this study, we introduce an enhanced modeling approach for CG transmission that takes into account the repetition and retransmission, allowing a thorough evaluation of network performance. the numerical results shed light on configuring CG transmission settings to achieve a predetermined probability of success for successful packet decoding. Importantly, the system model in the paper closely follows 3GPP-based Transmission Time Interval (TTI) models, which helps to map the observed results to real system performance.

Background: 3D modeling of human organs and structures could aid the development of new therapies and materials to personalize each patient’s needs. this study aimed to create solid-state 3D models of the vertebral segments and test their deformations and stress state under different ***: 3D finite element computer model of lumbar segments was created and tested for the range of motion and stress patterns generated at the lumbar spine using SOLIDWORKS® Simulation software (https://***/). the finite-element mesh was developed for this model. It consisted of 52662 elements and 90426 nodes, with 271278 degrees of freedom. Parabolic triangular and tetrad elements with a size of 4.15 mm and a tolerance of 0.2075 mm were utilized. After validation, the model was analyzed under static compression 300N to mimic the vertical position of the ***: the following average stress levels were determined in the different components of the model during the test: on the upper vertebra - 9.34±0.11 MPa, on the middle - 10.66±0.10 MPa, and the lower - 8.99±0.09 MPa; on the upper intervertebral disc 0.58±0.01 MPa, and the lower - 0.69±0.01 MPa; on the anterior longitudinal ligament - 0.02±0.001 MPa; on the posterior longitudinal ligament - 0.05±0.001 MPa; on the upper transverse ligaments - 0.01±0.001 MPa, and the lower - 0.04±0.001 MPa; on the interspinous ligaments - 0.02±0.001 MPa, and the supraspinatus - 0.03±0.001 ***: modeling static compression showed that the maximum stresses were primarily distributed over the vertebral bodies’ cortical bone and extinguished by the trabecular structure and intervertebral discs. Maximal displacements were found in the annulus fibrosus. Solid-state models with a finite-element mesh can be used for biomechanical investigations in vertebral segments. the modeling of multivariate choice problems in the design of products within the framework of an information and software system is considered. the typical elements and functions of the information and software system of multivariate choice are given. Models of optimization problems of forming acceptable sets of alternative solutions when choosing analogs of parts and components are proposed. the formation of the initial set of alternative solutions is carried out on the basis of an assessment of the design, technological, electrical and operational characteristics of the alternatives of choice. the formalization of the problem of the final selection of the composition of parts and components according to technical and economic indicators is given. the proposed models are based on the use of Boolean variables describing the alternatives of choice. the structure of a specialized database of bath rooms for storing the characteristics of parts and components and the results of intermediate and final selection of design solutions is also given. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. In this paper is investigated the ability of multi-energy systems (MESs) in acquiring resources from energy markets to supply the demand and supporting system Operators (Transmission/Distribution) by providing flexibility. the participation of MESs in multiple markets represents an opportunity and it is expected that market rules are designed to ease their involvement. the paper offers an overview of the simulations of a MES participating in multiple markets. the MES acquires resources for supplying the demand in the (very) short term (i.e., the day-ahead and intra-day) on energy markets, where acts as balance responsible party (BRP). On energy markets the MES purchases the cheapest resources to supply the demand and sells the production excesses at the highest prices. Furthermore, the MES participates in flexibility markets to increase its revenue and offer a support to system operators facing safety and reliability issues. A co-optimization Mixed Integer Linear Programming endowed with a flexibility model was implemented to carry on the simulations of participation in multi-markets and the economic indicator was adopted for the assessment phase. A district heating system operating in the Milan area was adopted as real MES to be simulated.

Resiliency is the ability to quickly recover from a violation and avoid future violations for as long as possible. Such a property is of fundamental importance for Cyber-Physical systems (CPS), and yet, to date, there is no widely agreed-upon formal treatment of CPS resiliency. We present an STL-based framework for reasoning about resiliency in CPS in which resiliency has a syntactic characterization in the form of an STL-based Resiliency Specification (SRS). Given an arbitrary STL formula., time bounds a and ss, the SRS of., Ra,ss(.), is the STL formula notsign.U([ 0,a])G([ 0,ss))., specifying that recovery from a violation of. occur within time a (recoverability), and subsequently that. be maintained for duration ss (durability). these R-expressions, which are atoms in our SRS logic, can be combined using STL operators, allowing one to express composite resiliency specifications, e.g., multiple SRSs must hold simultaneously, or the system must eventually be resilient. We define a quantitative semantics for SRSs in the form of a Resilience Satisfaction Value (ReSV) function r and prove its soundness and completeness w.r.t. STL's Boolean semantics. the r-value for Ra,ss(.) atoms is a singleton set containing a pair quantifying recoverability and durability. the r-value for a composite SRS formula results in a set of non-dominated recoverability-durability pairs, given that the ReSVs of subformulas might not be directly comparable (e.g., one subformula has superior durability but worse recoverability than another). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first multidimensional quantitative semantics for an STL-based logic. Two case studies demonstrate the practical utility of our approach.

China’s commercial aircraft manufacturing is transferring into batch production stage. Currently, in aircraft final assembly, learning effect exists, which results in the decrease in task processing time and imposes high level of adaptability for the distribution system. this paper addresses the logistics resource allocation problem for the distribution system in an aircraft final assembly line. Resource allocation is a strategical decision that involves determining the capacity of material storage and transportation. the aim is to obtain a logistics resource allocation solution that minimizes overall resource cost and maximizes the adaptability of the distribution system. To evaluate adaptability, a regression model based on machine learning and De Jong’s learning curve is proposed. A multi-objective mathematical model is formulated, and an improved multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm based on the adaptive grid method is designed to solve the problem. the results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method and provide decision support for assembly line planners.
