Nowadays, the cloud computing plays a crucial role in digital transformation and is a vital technology for processing huge amounts of data. It has become essential for the smooth functioning of various business infrastructures. However, cloud-delivered services and applications face several security threats and challenges. To address these issues, it's necessary to ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity and availability of data in the cloud. The use of Intrusion Detection systems (IDS) is one of the fundamental solutions available to tackle these challenges. In this study, our objective is to enhance the cloud security by proposing and implementing a new optimized intrusion detection system capable of improving detection accuracy and reducing the rate of false alerts. We define a hybrid technique that combines optimization with classification algorithms in machine learning as well as in deep learning. The main purpose of this hybrid approach is to boost accuracy, precision and performance of the cloud intrusion detection systems while reducing false alerts. To verify security and assess the validity of our proposal, we conduct experiments to validate its accuracy, precision, robustness and correctness.

The aircraft anti-skid braking system is crucial for the safety and smoothness of aircraft landing and is a key research area in aircraft design. With the development of modern aircraft, the requirements for braking performance are becoming increasingly demanding. The traditional PID-type aircraft anti-skid brake system has problems such as low-speed skidding, poor robustness, and weak adaptability, gradually failing to meet the development requirements of aircraft braking. To address the problems of traditional PID control systems, this paper proposes a multi-mode PID aircraft anti-skid braking control strategy based on Particle Swarm optimization (PSO). It adopts real-time optimization of PID controller parameters using PSO and formulates braking strategies for high, low, and very low-speed segments based on aircraft speed. A complete simulation model of the aircraft anti-skid brake system and control strategy was established using the Matlab/AMESim platform, with optimal slip ratio as the control objective for simulation verification. The results show that the proposed control strategy can effectively solve the problem of poor low-speed control performance of the traditional strategy, and significantly improve the aircraft anti-skid brake performance.

This study introduces an advanced methodology to overcome the intrinsic challenges associated with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology integrated into Apple's devices, specifically focusing on optimizing depth map accuracy through multiview angle analysis. Despite the extensive utility of LiDAR in generating detailed three-dimensional models for various applications, from autonomous vehicle navigation to environmental conservation, the efficiency of the technology is often compromised by difficulties in accurately rendering complex geometries from multiple perspectives and by its substantial demands on computational resources. To address these limitations, depth map data are systematically collected and evaluated from four distinct viewing angles (0, 90, 180, and 270 degrees) against established ground truth benchmarks. With a threshold of Intersection over Union (IoU) set at 0.8, it is inferred that the predicted shape exhibits over 80% similarity to the actual shape. When only one view is utilized, an IoU of 0.95 is achieved, alongside a size reduction of 73.07%, a Perimeter Accuracy reduction of 1.56%, and an increase in Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 29.37%. This comprehensive analysis highlights the critical need for precise geometric representation and marks a significant step toward enhancing the fidelity of LiDAR measurements. The results of this research indicate a substantial improvement in the accuracy of three-dimensional representations, suggesting a potential shift in the utilization of LiDAR technology across various scientific and infrastructural domains. By proposing a novel framework that optimizes data precision and processing efficiency, this paper contributes to the ongoing discourse on improving 3D modeling and analysis techniques.

The Paris agreement is the first-ever universally accepted and legally binding agreement on global climate change. It is a bridge between today's and climate-neutrality policies and strategies before the end of the century. However, government and private companies still struggle to develop cost-effective carbon-neutral strategies. Energy system modeling has proved essential in creating strategies to generate carbon-neutral scenarios under minimal costs. However, cost minimization does not necessarily lead to publicly acceptable solutions nor generate configurations that minimize environmental impacts. Here we show a methodology to integrate LCIA indicators in an energy system model, assessing the impact of energy system configurations on economic and environmental aspects. Here we show a methodology to integrate life cycle assessment metrics in an energy system model to account for (i) emissions and impacts beyond the operation of the energy system itself and (ii) identify configurations optimizing both economic and environmental aspects. The model is applied to the case study of Switzerland and shows that with little modifications to the energy system configuration, carbon neutrality can be reached under the cost minimization objective while identifying trade-offs with other environmental issues. This work allows the generation of MOO of energy systems, minimizing burden shifting of environmental impacts and generating robust solutions for the energy transition, increasing social acceptance towards the biggest challenge of the 21st century. © (2023) by ECOS 2023 All rights reserved.

Ocean exploration and inspection missions involving underwater robotic systems have gained increasing popularity in various domains such as marine science, archaeology, and defense in recent years. However, deploying vessels and robotic solutions for such research activities entails significant costs for acquisition and maintenance. This is primarily due to the logistical challenges involved in transporting equipment between locations, which necessitates a substantial financial investment, in addition to expenses associated with crew and research personnel. Effective planning of survey campaigns is crucial to avoid costly missteps arising from poor organization. It ensures that expenditures are justified and that objectives are achieved without unnecessary setbacks or errors. In this context, the utilization of simulation methodologies adds invaluable value in mitigating costs and exploring various solutions before the mission is carried out in the real world. Their utility extends beyond the examination of specific sensors or setups;they are also a valuable tool for planning different campaigns with different mission objectives. In this paper, a simulation framework that integrates an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle with a Multibeam Echo Sounder as the perception sensor is presented. The objective is to streamline acoustic survey mission planning and generate synthetic acoustic image data incorporating the modeling of typical error sources, simplifying the evaluation of output data for real applications. This system can also be utilized as a Software-in-the-loop system for testing and verification of control systems and algorithms.

Discrete production control is associated with making numerous decisions related to task allocation to machines, resource configuration, cost and production time optimization, outsourcing, etc. These decisions often need to be made simultaneously, fulfilling multiple constraints of the production system, customer requirements, etc. The paper introduces an original mathematical decision support model for discrete production problems. It has been implemented in a mathematical programming environment for the production process of rolling bearings in an actual factory. Additionally, due to the high computational complexity of discrete models, a procedure for reducing the size of the modeled problem was proposed, resulting in reduced solution search times. Numerous computational experiments were also presented, confirming the utility of the proposed model.

This work studies the distributed permutation flow-shop scheduling problems (DPFSP) for minimizing the maximum completion time (makespan). First, a mathematical model is established for the DPFSP. Second, four meta-heuristics, named genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimization (PSO), artificial bee colony (ABC), and differential evolution (DE), are used and improved to solve the problems. Third, the Nawaz-Enscore-Ham (NEH) heuristic is employed to initialize the factory allocation scheme. Then, six local search operators are designed based on problem-specific knowledge. Two Sarsa-based strategies are developed to enhance the exploitation of meta-heuristics by optimizing factory allocation and choosing appropriate local search operators, respectively. Finally, to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms, we solve 72 benchmark instances. The performance of the two Sarsa-based strategies is evaluated. Comparisons and discussions show that the improved ABC with the Sarsa strategy for local search selection is the best one among the 16 algorithms. © 2024 IEEE.

3D printing is a rapidly advancing field, particularly with the emergence of industrial applications. Within this realm, multi-material printing is gaining prominence, finding applications across various industries. A significant challenge in multi-material 3D printing is the potential for delamination between layers or poor adhesion. Our study addresses this challenge by focusing on joining methodologies. Specifically, we apply mechanical interlocks with varying orientations (0 °, 45°, and 90 °) to achieve the enhanced impact strength. with PLA Pro material. The toughness and fracture properties of interlocked samples were compared with standard printed pure samples. Our findings indicate that the interlocked samples exhibit superior strength and distinctive fracture behaviors that can be used to print to multi-materials in 3D printing. Furthermore, the best performing interlock was further optimized based upon raster angle. The result shows best performance at 45° raster angle. This work can lead to multi-material printing in various industries like health care, manufacturing, and process industry. © 2024 IEEE.
