Process modeling is used to understand a business process and to document requirements, but is mostly formalized and limited to modeling experts. This can be a problem when designing interactive systems that incorporate AI elements, since the design can fail to take into account tacit knowledge and context-specific requirements of people that execute the process. While recent discourse has highlighted this gap and called for an exploration into light-weight, grassroots modeling techniques that can be used to model everyday work, it is still unclear how these can be harnessed to design information systems that support work. The aim of this paper is to showcase how a triangulated approach combining three different perspectives - grassroots modeling, theoretical grounding, and first person media, can be used to collaboratively model an informal work activity and design an AI-enabled system to instruct novices to perform that activity. Our experience confirms the assertion that, when provided with the necessary scaffolding, experts without any formal modeling experience can be supported to model their specific, local activities and, in doing so, contribute valuable knowledge to the design of information systems.

To create a future society based on cyber-physical systems, we need real-time digital twins made with cameras and sensors. The challenge is making this energy-efficient. A model in [1] suggests dividing video analysis tasks among terminals, edge servers, and cloud servers to minimize power consumption. This paper addresses energy optimization in dynamic environments with a two-level approach: detecting and categorizing environmental changes (LEC and SEC) and using a two-level adaptive evolutionary algorithm (TAEA) to make corresponding adjustments. A case study with a differential evolution algorithm demonstrates its effectiveness in minimizing energy costs and improving processing accuracy and latency violations.

The evolution of traditional power systems into smart grids has been pivotal in enhancing grid efficiency, stability, and sustainability. This study presents a comprehensive load flow analysis and optimization framework tailored for the integration of smart grid components, including hybrid photovoltaic (PV) and wind power systems, coupled with a Battery Management system (BMS) and a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC). The research developed a simulation model in Matlab to analyze the performance of a residential microgrid under normal and fault conditions. The results underscored the benefits of integrating distributed generation and intelligent control systems, demonstrating significant improvements in voltage regulation, line loadings, and overall systemstability. The smart grid-integrated approach was compared with traditional load flow methods, revealing its superiority in accommodating renewable energy sources and enhancing grid resilience. The study concludes that intelligent control-based grid integration is not only feasible but also imperative for modern power systems, laying the groundwork for future advancements in smart grid technology.

This study focuses on the integration of system Dynamics (SD), Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, and 3D Urban Information modeling (CityGML) in the field of urban planning. It aims to optimize urban layout to cope with rapid urban growth, emphasizing resource allocation through a combination of greedy strategies and AI methods. The core contribution of this paper is to provide spatial allocation of feedback from simulation techniques i.e. SD using the application of genetic algorithms (GA) based on a greedy strategy. The methodology was implemented using a fictitious case study in Berlin, where new students' dorms are required according to the growth in the number of students. The SD tool is used to simulate the growth over 5 years and determine the number of new dorms required. A genetic algorithm is used to optimize the planning objectives of allocating 16 new dorms in 186 possible locations. The algorithm effectively handles the feedback from SD and applies complex multi-objective optimization problems, addressing the challenge of accommodating a growing student population. It proposes strategic dormitory allocations that balance factors such as cost efficiency, campus accessibility, and proximity to public transportation systems. We use CityGML data to simulate and predict future urban transformation, providing dynamic and realistic representations for urban planning decisions and updating the original city models.

Reasonable allocation of command cabin layout can effectively improve the combat capability of warships. Based on the command and control system cabin of British 23 frigate, the operation of command cabin is described by using the hierarchical task analysis, and the analysis plan is made. The operation sequence flow chart is established to describe the business relationship between performers in each time period. The social network analysis method is used to analyze the crew in the command cabin and describe the social relationship and social status among the crew in the command and control model. In order to make the cabin layout more reasonable and effective, the process of analysis and optimization design of command cabin layout and the mathematical model of cabin layout optimization are established. The layout parameters are adjusted by genetic algorithm to obtain the optimal solution.
