The growing demand for fast and reliable wireless services has led to the deployment of more base stations, which has made manual optimization of base station parameters more complex and time-consuming. This can lead to suboptimal network performance and a poor user experience. To address this challenge, we propose a Clustering-Driven Approach for Base station Parameter optimization and Automation (CeDA-BatOp), an automated framework for predicting optimized base station parameters. Our framework first compares three clustering algorithms: K-means, DBSCAN, and Agglomerative Clustering, selecting the most suitable one for specific scenarios based on their unique attributes. Simultaneously, our framework leverages machine learning (ML) algorithms to predict the optimal parameters for each base station with an evaluation of multiple ML models to identify the best fit for our data. It also incorporates data drift monitoring to track gradual changes in data distribution over time, ensuring ML model accuracy through periodic retraining. In the simulated scenario, our framework achieved an average of 76% reduction in memory overhead and simplified training by utilizing fewer models, effectively minimizing computational resources. The drift detection system demonstrated an exceptional accuracy of 98.87%, outperforming other cases. These results highlight the potential of our framework to significantly benefit network operators by automating base station parameter tuning, reducing human involvement, and substantially improving network performance and cost savings.

With the intensification of global climate change, extreme weather conditions pose significant challenges to the stability of power systems. The multi-energy complementary system, integrating hydropower, photovoltaics, wind power, and energy storage, known as the hydro-wind-solar-storage complementary system (HWSSCS), has the potential to enhance the system's ability to accommodate fluctuations in renewable energy through the peak-shaving and frequency-regulation functions of hydropower. However, under extreme drought conditions, hydropower generation capacity is constrained, significantly increasing the complexity of system operation. In this paper, a short-term optimization scheduling model for HWSSCS, incorporating shiftable loads, is constructed to analyze scheduling strategies under drought scenarios and to investigate the impact of shiftable loads on the system's supply-demand balance. The results indicate that the integration of shiftable loads effectively alleviates power supply pressure during peak load periods, reduces load gaps and curtailment, and enhances the robustness and operational flexibility of the system.

Security constrained unit commitment (SCUC) problem with uncertainty has become an important research task with the increasing scale of renewable energy access in the power system. Multi-stage robust optimization method has been proved to be effective for solving the UC problem with uncertainty, but it has to deal with the difficulty of excessive computation. The complexity of the UC problem is also increasing due to the rapidly expanding overall size of the power system. A common method to improve the efficiency of solving UC problems is to eliminate redundant security constraints. However, this method is mainly applied to the deterministic UC problems at present. In this paper, a solution framework based on a multi-stage robust optimization method with eliminating redundant security constraints is established. Numerical testing is performed for IEEE 24-bus system and 118-bus system. Most of the security constraints are identified as redundant constraints in different scenarios. The computational efficiency is obviously improved after redundant constraints are eliminated. © 2024 IEEE.

Wireless Federated Learning (WFL) marks a significant evolution in edge artificial intelligence (AI), allowing for collaborative learning while preserving the privacy of edge devices. Recently, the enhanced data collection and storage capability of edge devices have precipitated a paradigm shift from training an individual model (single-job) to multiple AI models (multi-job). This shift poses a new challenge in maintaining high system performance while managing resource management among multiple jobs. In this work, we address the challenge of a multi-job WFL framework by optimizing its dual efficiency. We formulate a multi-objective optimization problem with the goal of minimizing energy consumption and execution time to enhance system efficiency, while ensuring that all AI jobs meet their predefined performance criteria, thereby guaranteeing learning efficiency. To solve the problem, we propose an algorithm that jointly optimizes job assignment and resource allocation, by considering the triple-heterogeneity of data, devices, and jobs in the multi-job WFL framework. Specifically, a matching game-based method is utilized to assign jobs to capable devices, considering their respective contributions and costs, while convex optimization techniques are employed to refine the resource allocation toward computing frequency and transmission power. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated through numerical simulations in terms of system and learning performance over multiple AI model training jobs, showing that our proposed algorithm ensures time and energy efficiency under the same learning performance constraints.

We present a real-time vision -based fault detection system for Fused Deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printing, utilizing multiple You Only Look Once (YOLO) Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models YOL0v4 Tiny, YOLOv5, YOLOv8, and YOL0v10 to identify defects such as blobs, cracks, spaghetti, stringing, under-extrusion, and warping. Unlike previous studies that use single models, our system integrates these YOLO variants to enhance detection accuracy and incorporates an adaptive learning module for continuous improvement based on real-time data. The system logs and displays faults on a live camera feed, significantly improving quality control in additive manufacturing. Comparative analysis shows that YOLOv8 achieves a 7% increase in detection accuracy and a 30% reduction in print errors. This novel integration of multiple YOLO models with adaptive learning advances automation and reliability in 3D printing.

Data characterized by high dimensionality and sparsity are commonly used to describe real-world node interactions. Low-rank representation (LR) can map high-dimensional and sparse (HDS) data to low-dimensional feature spaces and infer node interactions via modeling data latent associations. Unfortunately, existing optimization algorithms for LR models are computationally inefficient and slowly convergent on large-scale datasets. To address this issue, this paper proposes an Accelerated Asynchronous Parallel stochastic Gradient Descent (A2 PSGD) Algorithm for High-Dimensional and Sparse Data Low-rank Representation with three fold-ideas: a) establishing a lock-free scheduler to simultaneously respond to scheduling requests from multiple threads;b) introducing a greedy algorithm-based load balancing strategy for balancing the computational load among threads;c) incorporating Nesterov's accelerated gradient into the learning scheme to accelerate model convergence. Empirical studies show that A2 PSGD outperforms existing optimization algorithms for HDS data LR in both accuracy and training time. © 2024 IEEE.

With the continuous advancement of the "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality" strategy, the distributed power sources are steadily increasing, leading to the emergence of microgrids dominated by distributed power sources. This paper proposes a for analyzing the stability of inverter-dominated microgrids. Firstly, the microgrids' small signal analysis model is established, including critical components such as synchronous generator sets, inverters. By incorporating these elements, the model can accurately represent the dynamic behavior of the microgrid under various operating conditions. The Nyquist stability criterion is then employed to systematically analyze the impact factors of the microgrids' stability, including control bandwidth of current-loop, PLL, dc-voltage-loop. The analysis indicates that an increase in distributed power generation reduces the system's stability margin, and adjust the control parameter can improve the stability characteristics. Finally, simulation analysis is conducted to verify the conclusions derived from the analysis.

The offshore wind farm has become a growing focus in the renewable energy development and may cause significant harmonic distortion in power systems. Since each wind turbine can be regarded as a harmonic source, the accurate assessment of harmonic distortion produced by a wind farm is a crucial issue for the wind farm operation. When simulating harmonic sources, the model selections can substantially impact the calculated harmonic distortion results. Therefore, the accurate modeling of harmonic sources for the wind turbines becomes an indispensable issue. This paper aims to evaluate harmonic distortion in an offshore wind farm system under each wind turbine's rated output. The study cases compare the differences in simulation results between the harmonic source based on the IEC 61000-3-6 and the DIgSILENT unbalanced phase correction (UPC) models. Then, the findings are reported to for harmonic assessment of an offshore wind farm.

With the growing share of renewable energy sources (RES), configuring substitutive energy storag system (SESS) in distribution networks to mitigate the fluctuations of renewable energy hold significant importance. To this end, an optimal approach for configuring substitutive energy storage is proposed in this paper, aimed at the cost-effective operation of the distribution system and the accommodation of renewable energy. Firstly, a collaborative operation model of SESS in distribution networks and user-side energy storage is constructed, and the operation mode of SESS in the distribution network is analyzed. Then, with the minimization of the distribution network planning and operation cost as the objective function, an optimization model for the siting and sizing of SESS in the distribution network is established to achieve energy storage planning. On this basis, based on stochastic programming to represent the uncertainty in wind and solar power generation, the configuration model is linearized using a penalty factor method. Finally, case studies are conducted on the modified 33-nodes distribution network to confirm the proposed method's effectiveness and practicality.
