Importance of data analytics continuously increases in modern organizations, and diversity of technologies for implementation of analytical components is also increasing. enterprise architecture and analytical methods are helpful in selecting the most appropriate technology to ensure the right balance among strategic, development and usage considerations. This paper elaborates a mathematical model for evaluation of alternative solutions for implementation of analytical reports requested by users of enterprise applications. The alternative solutions are selected to minimize development and maintenance costs in accordance with enterprise architecture evolution principles such as centralization of common functionality and promotion of reuse. The enterprise architecture also provides input data necessary to run the model. Application of the model is demonstrated using an illustrative example highlighting some of the trade-offs faced by enterprises and systems architects. The model is intended as a decision-making guide during enterprise architecture change management.

Digital innovation (DI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) offer new opportunities for enterprises but also cause new challenges for enterprise Architecture Management. Based on an industrial case from power garden products illustrating potentials and challenges of DI and IoT, this paper investigates the integration of product-IT into enterprise architectures. Product-IT includes the embedded IT-systems in physical products and services, components for operations, maintenance or evaluation purposes. The paper investigates the suitability of traditional enterprise architecture layers for structuring product-IT, identifies problems in product-IT and enterprise-IT integration and challenges for the field of EAM. The main contributions of the paper are (1) to position the area of product-IT in the field of EAM, (2) to identify challenges from real-world cases regarding integration of product-IT into EA and (3) outline potential ways to approach the challenges.

Digitization fosters the development of IT environments with many rather small structures, like Internet of Things (IoT), Microservices, or mobility systems. They are needed to support flexible and agile digitized products and services. The goal is to create service-oriented enterprise architectures (EA) that are self-optimizing and resilient. The present research paper investigates methods for decision-making concerning digitization architectures for Internet of Things and Microservices. They are based on evolving enterprise architecture reference models and state of the art elements for architectural engineering for microgranular systems. Decision analytics in this field becomes increasingly complex and decision support, particularly for the development and evolution of sustainable enterprise architectures, is sorely needed. The challenging of the decision processes can be supported with in a more flexible and intuitive way by an architecture management cockpit.

As a result of growing complexities in business processes, information systems, and the technical infrastructure, a key challenge for enterprise architecture management (EAM) is to guide stakeholders from different hierarchical levels with heterogeneous concerns. EA deliverables, such as models or frameworks, are often highly comprehensive and standardized. However, these can hardly be applied without greater adaption. Although the literature selectively covers approaches for tailoring EA deliverables closer to the concerns of affected stakeholders, these approaches are often vague or not very differentiated. In the paper at hand, we aim at introducing a stakeholder perspective to EAM research that considers stakeholder concerns on EAM across hierarchical levels. To this end, we conduct a case study: Our results show homogenous concerns among stakeholders on EA deliverables. In turn, we found different concerns on the role of EAM in applying these deliverables, dependent on the hierarchical level of stakeholders. These findings stress the necessity for a more differentiated understanding of stakeholder concerns on EAM. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings for an exemplary EAM approach.

In nowadays complex and interconnected society, organizations are required to implement information system security as well as risk management. Nevertheless, in the fast moving and always more regulated environment in which we evolve, dealing with such requirements remains a challenging issue. In that regard, our previous works have consisted in considering the field of enterprise architecture to support Information System Security Risk Management (ISSRM) and more specifically the difficulty to have a clear and manageable documentation for this activity. The output of our research is currently an integrated model built on the mapping of concepts from both domains, allowing dealing with ISSRM using enterprise architecture paradigm. Our objective is now to suggest a visual syntax for this integrated model, deemed as necessary to support the practitioner to document the ISSRM steps. As a candidate for such a visual syntax, this paper analyses the "Risk and Security Overlay" of the ArchiMate language through two complementary aspects: completeness of the notation with regards to our integrated model and cognitive effectiveness with the nine related principles elaborated by Moody, also called "Physics of Notations".

enterprise Architecture Management (EAM) is a prominent discipline for purposefully guiding the complex, co-evolutionary business-IT relationships in organizations. Means to realize such guidance are, among others, mechanisms to coordinate heterogeneous and potentially conflicting stakeholder concerns. Yet, organizations face challenges to successfully leverage their EAM initiatives, often as a result of coordination mechanisms that only reach specific stakeholders or selected contexts. In the paper at hand, we aim at introducing coordination as a research lens for analyzing and designing EAM approaches. To this end, we substantiate the abstract notion of coordination through its underlying formal and informal mechanisms, which are implemented by artifacts, as well as through artifact modalities in an analysis framework. For illustrative purposes, we apply the developed analysis framework to The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). We find informal mechanisms (lateral relations, communication, and socialization) comparably underrepresented, which limits not only coordination effects but may also limit the success of the overall EAM approach. Our findings call for an extended and more comprehensive perspective on coordination in EAM, motivating the complementarity of informal mechanisms as an avenue for future research.

High-level enterprise services are considered as wrappers of business processes and ICT capabilities in enterprise architecture. enterprise services have distinctive features that are not typically observed in Web services, e.g. signicant portions of the functionality of these services might be executed in a human-mediated fashion. As such, a service level agreement should be described as a mixture of human-mediated functionality (e.g., service penalty) and computer-interpretable factors (e.g., reliability, payment). This paper reports our preliminary work in defining a taxonomy for co-relating SLAs with elements of enterprise architecture. It gives insight into the alignment between what the enterprise in questions contractually agrees with its partners (or customers) and what it possesses to be able to fulfill the agreement. We define the service level agreement formally. We adopt the ArchiMate -a widely used language for modeling and analyzing enterprise architectures. We then propose the corelation between items in the agreement with elements in the enterprise architecture. We showcase our work using a real-life case-study in the retailing market of domestic airfare.
