These proceedings present the results of the Eleventh internationalconference on Dependability and Complex Systems DepCoS-RELCOMEX which took place in a picturesque Brunw Palace in Poland from 27th June to 1st July, 2016. DepCoS-RELCOMEX is a series of internationalconferences organized annually by Department of Computer Engineering of Wrocaw University of Science and technology since 2006. The roots of the series go as far back as to the seventies of the previous century the first RELCOMEX conference took place in 1977 and now its main aim is to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to dependability problems in theory and engineering practice of complex systems. Complex systems, nowadays most often computer-based and distributed, are built upon a variety of technical, information, software and human resources. The challenges in their design, analysis and maintenance not only originate from the involved technical and organizational structures but also from the complexity of the information processes that must be efficiently executed in a diverse, often hostile operational environment. Traditional methods of reliability evaluation focused only on technical resources are usually insufficient in this context and more innovative, multidisciplinary methods of dependability analysis must be applied. The diversity of the topics which need to be considered is well illustrated by the selection of the submissions in these proceedings with their subjects ranging from mathematical models and design methodologies through software engineering and data security issues up to practical problems in technical, e.g. transportation, systems.

Gridlink provides a communication infrastructure for the implementation of distributed control systems in Java. It is a completely decentralized solution where the communication partners dynamically form a cluster of known instances during execution. Gridlink uses a distributed event bus based on an asynchronous communication model. Current trend in industrial systems is to make devices more intelligent and distribute the control into smaller components. The intelligent devices produce big amount of data which can be provided to plant personnel for maintaining the proper function and desired production performance. Large systems may contain hundreds of intelligent controllers, therefore, there is a need for a system that can easily integrate the devices together and allow dynamic reconfiguration of the group. This paper describes a configuration approach for late binding the intelligent devices into a group, where each device can be controlled and monitored individually or simultaneously. This can be used for creating higher level control or for simplifying the monitoring in situations where the devices within the group may change. The presented approach is also demonstrated by creating an adaptive human machine interface where the group of devices can be operated. The solution utilizes Arrowhead Framework, Orchestration core service and developed management service.

Chinese needs of iron ore have been increased sharply since 21st century and China is the biggest importing country of iron ore in the global. The uncertainty of the iron and steel industry has greatly increased with fluctuations in the iron ore global market, which has been a critical topic for the Chinese iron and steel industry. The price is also relating to the sustainable development of the iron and steel industry. In order to explore the Chinese advantage of iron ore pricing in the world trade, in this paper, the negotiated price of international iron ore is regarded as a starting point, using game theory to analyze the demand of iron ore between Japan and China, besides the process and results of price game between China and the Cartel, and explain the genesis of the current price of the game, the listed suggestions aim to get more measures to solve these dilemmas and problems which China is suffering. We think, China must adapt to the supply-side reforms and develop long-term strategies of importing foreign ore to ensure long-term development of the iron ore market. In addition, these measures are also feasible, such as acquiring equity interest income in the foreign stock market, enlarging new business, building steel firms in the counties with rich ore resources and so on.

Grid computing, was developed by computer scientists in the mid 1990's based on ease of use and access geographically distributed resources which are dynamic and heterogeneous for solving difficult problems. These distributed resources are owned by different organizations. Grid computing provides a framework for parallel/ distributedcomputing. For developing a grid, low-level services (secure access management of resources) and highlevel services (application development and scheduling) should be developed. Dynamic nature of resources in grid architecture is the reason for varied load on resources. So for better management of resources, the scheduling concept comes into account. Scheduling means order of jobs which satisfy the metrics like user's satisfaction and completion time & so on. Better scheduling policy in grid computing improves performance, cost of computation, load balancing and increase reliability and availability of resources. This paper presents various approaches for allocation of resources in grid computing environment. This paper ends up with summary of some existing scheduling approaches by taking into account various metrics used to verify usefulness of existing technique.

Summary form only given. Big data and cognitive computing are driving fundamental changes in technology, business, and society. With its exponentially increasing volume, velocity and variety, big data is hailed as the world's new natural resource. It promises to be for the 21st century what steam power was for the 18th, electricity for the 19th, and oil and gas for the 20th. The biggest value of big data lies in the deep, actionable insights that can be derived from the raw data and leveraged for competitive advantages. Cognitive computing is a key enabling technology for turning big data into insights. Different from the traditional programmable systems, cognitive systems are able to scale and extend human knowledge, reason with purpose, and learn and improve over time. The rise of cognitive systems represents the dawn of a new era of computing, whose focus has shifted from automating the world to understanding the world. In this talk, I will discuss the implications of big data and cognitive computing. I will reflect on our experience at IBM building the Watson Health Cloud, and discuss how big data and cognitive computing can come together to enable innovative health solutions that tackle many of the clinical, societal, and economic issues faced by today's health industry. I will present use cases, highlight the challenges, describe our approaches, and relate to client experiences as appropriate.
