Cloud computing is the latest technology in the field of distributed computing. It provides various online and on-demand services for data storage, network services, platform services, etc. Many organizations are unenthusiastic to use cloud services due to data security issues as the data resides on the cloud services providers' servers. To address this issue, there have been several approaches applied by various researchers worldwide to strengthen security of the stored data on cloud computing. The Bi-directional DNA Encryption Algorithm (BDEA) is one such data security techniques. However, the existing technique focuses only on the ASCII character set, ignoring the non-English user of the cloud computing. Thus, this proposed work focuses on enhancing the BDEA to use with the Unicode characters. © Springer India 2015.

In the paper we consider expanded routing and spectrum assignment problem in distributed computing system based on elastic optical network. Computational tasks generated by clients at network nodes are divided into subtasks and sent to data centers to provide computations. The problem consists in simultaneously dividing computational tasks into subtasks and for each subtask assigning data center, route and spectrum in elastic optical network. The considered traffic type is an extension of classical anycast traffic, since one on few data centers may be the target (destination) of each demand. In the paper, we formulate a new optimization problem as an ILP model and propose meta-heuristic algorithm based on tabu search method. Then, we present computational experiments for exemplifying network, reporting the quality of heuristic solutions an characteristics of considered optimization problem.

Cloud computing is becoming an essential component for Internet services. However, its energy consumption has become a key environmental and economic concern. The distributed nature of Cloud infrastructures involves that their components are spread across wide areas, interconnected through different networks, and powered by diverse energy sources and providers, making overall energy monitoring and optimizations challenging. In this paper, we present the opportunity brought by the Smart Grids to exploit renewable energy availability and to optimize energy management in distributed Clouds. The presence of smart sensors which are both integrated into the electricity Grid and connected to the Internet, indeed offers for the first time the possibility of exploiting the availability of various energy sources, and of making complete energy measurements of all the Cloud resources - computing, storage and especially networking resources - problems which have previously been intractable.

Recent advances in the micro electromechanical systems technology MEMS, wireless communications and digital electronics allowed to create inexpensive, low-powered, multi-functional nodes. They are small and "talk" directly with each other. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is considered to be a distributed, self-organizing system of a large number of sensors and assistive devices that communicate with each other through the radio channel. Sensor networks are based on the joint work of a large number of tiny nodes that consist of data collection and processing modules and a transmitter or a transceiver. Such networks have significant advantages over the set of traditional sensors. The main problem in sensor networks is a short stint due to high power consumption and the incompatibility of various hardware. Because of the absence of a clear standardization in sensor networks, there are several different platforms. All platforms meet the essential basic requirements for sensor networks: low power consumption, long operating time, low-power transmitters and presence of sensors. Each platform is in its own interest substantiated and has its own peculiarities. They will transmit the observation data to the central nodes where data collection, storing, and processing will be performed. The main purpose is to enhance the security wireless sensor networks.

n 2012, 14 Italian institutions participating in LHC Experiments won a grant from the Italian Ministry of Research (MIUR), with the aim of optimising analysis activities, and in general the Tier2/Tier3 infrastructure. We report on the activities being researched upon, on the considerable improvement in the ease of access to resources by physicists, also those with no specific computing interests. We focused on items like distributed storage federations, access to batch-like facilities, provisioning of user interfaces on demand and cloud systems. R&D on next-generation databases, distributed analysis interfaces, and new computing architectures was also carried on. The project, ending in the first months of 2016, will produce a white paper with recommendations on best practices for data-analysis support by computing centers.

Cloud computing is popularly used environment where many hardware and software resources are delivered as a service especially over the Internet. Since a majority of cloud applications require voluminous data processes ability at petabyte scale, a database management systems (DBMSs) catering to these applications forms a critical component in the cloud software stack. Cloud database has emerged as the amalgamation of distributed storage and virtualization technology. With growing market of distributed Web applications and rising trend of cloud computing, a need for a database suitable for cloud computing environment has drawn focus. This paper is intended to frame a set of criterions for database to be suitable for cloud computing environment which could provide us with much needed features such as high availability, flexible schema, lower cost of investment, scalability, elasticity, etc. We have also tried to evaluate the compliance of our proposed set of criterions with respect to some of the commercially used cloud databases. This proposed set of criterions would help to figure out the extent to which a database is suitable for cloud computing environment. © Springer India 2015.

Cloud computing is a new computing model which uses virtualization technology, distributed computing, parallel computing and other existing technologies to achieve cloud service virtualization and economies of scale, whilst increasingly overwhelming cloud security issues has brought great challenges and concerns to the cloud services providers and cloud users, especially trust and privacy issues with regard to cloud computing and cloud shared storage associated security issues. In the paper, we expound the basic concepts of cloud computing, deployment models, service models and key features, analyze and outline the currently highlighted cloud security issues, report the status quo of cloud computing security, investigate the prevalent and typical cloud computing security problem key solving techniques, and thus render a comprehensive cloud computing security technical reference model, which is composed of associated cloud security solving techniques that result from inevitably multi-faceted cloud security issues. The model is expected to alleviate prominent cloud security issues. This paper generalizes cloud security technology research directions and further development space of cloud security technology and standardization.

This paper presents preliminary findings from a study of user autonomy protection (UAP) in mobile coaching applications. Autonomy refers to doing things out of one's own volition, and is an important ethical principle in the health care sector. Protecting a patient's autonomy can significantly enhance treatment adherence and can have positive motivational effects. We are developing a mobile self-help app to be used by patients undergoing cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), and aim to implement UAP in template-based dialogues. Transcripts of real CBT-I sessions are studied in order to unearth specific speech acts that therapists use to protect the patient's autonomy in practice. © 2015, Weisbecker, Burmester, Schmidt.

The next-generation network, cloud computing, and Internet of thing are a challenging and promising paradigm shift in IT world technology. Diminishing the cost for users for provisioning anywhere connecting at anytime from anywhere network, CloudIMS consists of interconnecting heterogeneous access technology and to respond to a major challenge for serving the increase in demand and scalable network access to share pool of configurable resource of enabling a convenient cloud computing. This paper mainly focused on common approach to integrate the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), the Internet of thing, and cloud computing under the name of CloudIMS architecture which makes multimedia service easy to deploy on a cloud platform. We present the state of art of the different elements of CloudIMS. Moreover, we examine the layers designed for CloudIMS based on next-generation network access for mobile communication devices between different types of technologies (3GPP and non-3GPP), such as global system for mobile communication (GSM), wireless network, worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) and long-term evolution (LTE). Finally, we present an architecture of CloudIMS according to our point of view, followed by a discussion of a use case for the future networks. © Springer India 2015.
