This paper proposes a Nash equilibrium-based model predictive control (MPC) scheme incorporating a cooperative particle swarm optimization (CPSO) to deal with the control of flocking robots whose state vectors are coupled in a cost function. In conventional distributed MPC, the stability is assured by guaranteeing a bounded error between what a subsystem plans to do and what neighbors believe that the subsystem plans to do over a finite prediction horizon. This condition is referred to as compatibility constraint, and the closed-loop control performance largely depends on the responses computed at the previous time step. As an alternative of the compatibility constraint, the distributed CPSO is suggested in an MPC framework, which guarantees the stability without enforcing the compatibility constraint. A numerical simulation is performed on a group of nonholonomic mobile robots to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed MPC scheme incorporating CPSO. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

The Web constitutes huge, distributed and dynamically growing hyper medium, supporting access to data and services. In corporate business due to strong market competition more organizations rely on web to conduct business, website design & management becoming critical issue in web based applications. One of the vital goals of organizations is having attractive & well organized website. Website managers are responsible to take decisions about contents & hyperlink structure in order to capture the attention of visitor's. Visitor's interactions with website are stored in server logs and serves as huge electronic survey of website. In this paper server logs are analyzed using the web log analyzer program to get general statistics about hit's, visitor's, visit's, browsers, operating systems, referring sites, spider URL's, eminent & delicate pages and statistics about error pages, broken links. Obtained results can be useful to website manager to evaluate website, helps in improving the effectiveness of website. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Robotics is an essential component of current and future technological existence of mankind. Interaction between human and technology such as robots and their coexistence with humans will be extremely important. In fact, a fully embodied intelligence is one version of the future but another option is distributed intelligence when a part of intelligence is "somewhere in the Cloud", and the second part is on the robot itself. Certainly there are several questions about connectivity and reduced activity in case of off-line robot life comparing to life in on-line robot existence. Meanwhile, a notion of Cloud Robotics came out, and it brings new challenges and endless possibilities for the future. The paper gives theoretical and experimental research about utilization of selected Neural technology specifically modified MF-ARTMAP neural network for object categorization. We used the categorization test-bed a Humanoid platform NAO connected to Global framework (MASS), which categorize in distributive and incremental approach objects. This approach creates a power of sharing knowledge among other robots and building collective intelligence. Papers gives the results of a pilot study and refers about preliminary results on different experimental data with building a database of objects on off-robot ecosystem. The system also works with fuzzy logic relations among objects and maintain a list of statements about the relationship between objects seen by the robot. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Pattern mining is one of the most pivotal steps in data mining;pattern mining immediately comes after the preprocessing phase of WUM. Pattern discovery deals with the sorted set of data items presented as part of the sequence. Pattern mining, users can recognize the web paths follow on a web site easily. The aim of this research discovers the patterns which are most relevant and interesting by using a Web usage mining process. The server web logs aids are the input to this process. Our target is to discover users' behavior, who has visited the web sites for less number of times. We have enlightened a method for clustering, based on the pattern summaries. We have conducted intense experiments and the results are shown in this paper. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

Image segmentation plays a dominant role in image analysis and image retrievals. Much work has been reported in literature regarding image segmentation based on Gaussian mixture model (GMM). The main drawback of GMM is regarding the assumption that each image region is characterized by Gaussian component, in which the feature vector is mesokurtic and having infinite range. But in colour images the feature vector is represented by Hue and Saturation which are non- negative and may not be symmetrically distributed. Hence the image segmentation can not be accurate unless the non-negative nature of the feature vector is included. In this paper an image segmentation method is developed and analyzed with the assumption that the bivariate feature vector consisting of Hue and Saturation of each pixel follows a left truncated bivariate Gaussian mixture model. In this method the number of components (Image regions) are determined by Hierarchical clustering. The segmentation algorithm is proposed under Bayesian frame with maximum likelihood. The experimentation with six images taken from Berkeley dataset reveals that the proposed image segmentation method outperforms the existing image segmentation method with GMM and finite left truncated bivariate Gaussian mixture model with K-means. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper, the method of data intensive computing is studied for large amounts of data in computed tomography (CT). An automatic workflow is built up to connect the tomography beamline of ANKA with the large scale data facility (LSDF), able to enhance the data storage and analysis efficiency. In this workflow, this paper focuses on the parallel computing of 3D computed tomography reconstruction. Different from the existing reconstruction system with filtered back-projection method, an algebraic reconstruction technique based on compressive sampling theory is presented to reconstruct the data from ultrafast computed tomography with fewer projections. Then the connected computing resources at the LSDF are used to implement the 3D CT reconstruction by distributing the whole job into multiple tasks executed in parallel. Promising reconstruction images and high computing performance are reported. For the 3D X-ray CT reconstruction, less than six minutes are actually required. LSDF is not only able to organize data efficiently, but also can provide reconstructed results to users in nearly instantaneous time. After integration into the workflow, this data intensive computing method will largely improve the data processing for ultrafast computed tomography at ANKA.

The primary aim of this research study is to explore the social and human potential of technologies designed to support awareness and enable autonomy. The concepts of awareness and autonomy are reconceptualized for 21~st century technology-pervasive environments. Using a case study approach, this study focuses on the use experience of faculty and students with an emerging and next generation technology. Multiple methods are employed for quantitative and qualitative data collection along with multiple data analysis techniques. This study makes several contributions to research and practice, including: the development of a conceptual framework for 21~st century autonomies and awareness;an autonomies and awareness research agenda;a reframing of the intuition concept for 21~st century technologies;proposed use of intuitive inquiry as a method for studying people-technology interactions;and a human-centered computing (HCC) approach in support of technology and people in balance, enabling more immediate engagement with social impact and social implications issues. More broadly, this paper provides a strategic and overarching perspective for building new systems within a research context for the 21~st century.

Movie therapy is a kind of means of art therapy which sprang up in the 21st century. This article mainly discusses the significant effect of movie therapy on stimulating human mental health and the new mode of movie therapy, which is a combination of modern computer technology and movie.

Target tracking is a typical and important application of wireless sensor networks (WSNs). In the consideration of scalability and energy efficiency for target tracking in large scale WSNs, it has been employed as an effective solution by organizing the WSNs into clusters. However, tracking a moving target in cluster-based WSNs suffers many problems e.g. energy consumption and need to use complex predictive tracking. In this paper, we propose a novel scheme, called Haar wavelet-based target tracking (HWDPT). We proposed an efficient prediction algorithm for mobile targets tracking based on Haar Wavelet transform. Also, we integrated on-demand dynamic clustering into a clusterbased WSN for effective target tracking. The simulation results validate that the proposed HWDPT protocol performs better in terms of track failed ratio, energy waste ratio and algorithm complexity, respectively.

With the emergence of pervasive computing and the Internet of Things, the numerous sensors of the intelligent surrounding environment will provide more and more context parameters at any time. These parameters will identify the context of an entity (user, object, etc.) more precisely than ever, but in most cases there will be only a few parameters relevant for a given situation or service. The goal of this paper is to prove that the Hierarchical Temporal Memory framework provides an efficient and scalable solution to detect these relevant parameters, if a large enough training set is provided. This opens the way to the adaptive, context-aware services that will emerge in the coming years. As a proof of concept example we analyze here the case of a mobile application that monitors different environmental parameters and learns the situations in which the owner of the mobile phone decides to upload to the Internet a photo immediately after taking it.
