We report on the status of the data preservation project at DESY for the HERA experiments and present the latest design of the storage which is a central element for bit preservation. The HEP experiments based at the HERA accelerator at DESY collected large and unique datasets during the period from 1992 to 2007. As part of the ongoing DPHEP data preservation efforts at DESY, these datasets must be transferred into storage systems that keep the data available for ongoing studies and guarantee safe long term access. To achieve a high level of reliability, we use the dCache distributed storage solution and make use of its replication capabilities and tape interfaces. We also investigate a recently introduced Small File Service that allows for the fully automatic creation of tape friendly container files.

The current state of information technologies requires high-performance processing and storing of large data volumes. To satisfy these constantly growing requirements, leading IT companies provide cloud computing services pool of abstract, virtualized, highly-scalable resources, available on-demand over Internet. However, this concept still has limitations, which sometimes are too high to give in. striving for the possible solutions in order to escape such limitations and finding a compromise between flexibility of cloud computing and confidence of local resources is an important step for further development of distributed computing. © 2011 CRIMICO (Crimean Microwave conference).

In this paper, we propose a habit-based SWRL generation and reasoning approach in smart home. Definition and recognition of habits of daily living can provide humanized smart home for assisted living application, especially for people with memory deficits. This paper presents Recognizing Habit of Daily Living(RHDL) by discovering and monitoring smart home context information. The habit and habit association of using electrical appliances are defined explicitly for the first time. The generation rules between habit/complex habit and SWRL are designed, and the reasoning is based on the Semantic Web Rule Language(SWRL). The ontology model for the RHDL is designed and the prototype system of RHDL is implemented using protege and Jess tools.

At present, the self-similarity of images has received wide attention in many fields such as image compression. Most of the images have strong self-similarity through the human eye visual system observation. However, the special images with strong self-similarity for human eye observation such as biomicroscopy are not digitally reflected by a certain algorithm, this paper proposes a self-similarity coefficient algorithm that is applicable to special natural images such as biomicroscopy and aerial photography, which has high self-similarity coefficients for biomicroscopy and other images.

intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technology often aims at improving traffic safety and mobility. In recent years, a number of ITS applications have also been developed to reduce environmental impacts from greenhouse gases and pollutant emissions. Typical eco-friendly ITS applications (e.g., eco-routing) focus on reducing overall vehicle emissions. However, pollutant emissions from vehicles would cause more adverse impacts on public health where there are more population living closer to the emission sources (i.e., roadways). To date, eco-friendly ITS applications have not been developed from a pollutant exposure point of view. In this paper, we introduce a new vehicle routing method that goes beyond minimizing overall pollutant emissions;instead, we aim to minimize pollutant exposure to the localized population along the roadways. As part of the method, the human inhaled mass of pollutants is modeled and used as part of the routing cost. Modeling results show that the inhaled mass of fine particulate matter for the selected susceptible population can be reduced by approximately 30% - 80% on a typical workday with the implementation of the proposed vehicle routing method.

With the massive growth of big data applications, the requirement for data processing speed is getting higher and higher in stream computing systems. The storm, as one of the most popular distributed stream computing systems, has received more attention. However, the storm's traditional scheduling strategy is not ideal for processing a large volume of streaming data. The resource scheduling in a distributed stream computing system should consider not only node allocation status but also fluctuating input rates of data stream. To address this problem, this paper has completed the following work: (1) A performance model La-stream (latency-sensitive elastic adaptive scheduling) is proposed and built by adopting a quantitative method for calculating the amount of computation required between task map nodes and node communication. (2) A La-stream based algorithm is proposed. The algorithm dynamically plans a resource allocation scheme with minimal data processing latency among available resources to achieve optimal allocation. (3) Three functional modules of La-steam are proposed and implemented: module Monitor, module Optimizer and module Scheduler. The three modules are integrated into the storm platform with minimal overhead. Several sets of experiments are conducted, verifying the feasibility and effectiveness of La-stream. © 2019 IEEE.

The zhuyin phonetic script not only provides greater learning benefits compared to romanization systems for Chinese Mandarin language students with existing English fluency, but also allows students to take advantage of its use in Taiwan where it exists in both official and popular usage. However, while penenabled computing educational applications can assist traditional pedagogical approaches for accelerating mastery of the script, existing approaches are either constrained in providing writing assessment, catered to native language users, or are less flexible in recognizing more natural writing. We present BopoNoto, an intelligent sketch education application for language students to learn zhuyin. Our application provides a sketching interface for practicing the symbols, and a sketch recognition system for assessing the visual and technical correctness of their input. From our evaluations, BopoNoto successfully demonstrates strong results in understanding and assessing students' written input.

We aim to support the interoperability of service-oriented and large scale domain through integration of two technologies in this paper.
