The aim of the article is to develop a method of planning the work of conductor crews, taking into account the Polish conditions - mainly in terms of compliance with working time regulations by employees. The paper describes the problems of scheduling conductor crews’ work in Polish conditions. The mathematical model of assigning conductor crews to tasks in Polish conditions was developed based on Task Assignment. Moreover, an algorithm was developed for a method of assigning conductor crews to tasks using a block diagram. In this method it is assumed that a timetable is given, based on which tasks performed by the employees are then developed. For such tasks, personnel is assigned to service - train managers and, where required, conductors. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The Precision Agriculture (PA) concept is becoming more and more important in the modern world. Although it faces numerous hardships with technology the biggest problem is the lack of pure standard definition. Solution may be to get inspired from Vehicle to Everything (V2X) model. It is a widely spoken conception of the road system, where vehicle, infrastructure and other traffic elements would be able to communicate with others. However, it is not in the common use, it is a developed technology with tested and established assumptions for various of aspects like transmitting medium. Because such work has been done in that field, it should be considered to implement solutions from V2X to PA, due to the similarities between them. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Deep learning (DL) is being widely used to solve complex problems in scientific applications from diverse domains, such as weather forecasting, medical diagnostics, and fluid dynamics simulation. DL applications consume a large amount of data using large-scale high-performance computing (HPC) systems to train a given model. These workloads have large memory and storage requirements that typically go beyond the limited amount of main memory available on an HPC server. This significantly increases the overall training time as the input training data and model parameters are frequently swapped to slower storage tiers during the training process. In this paper, we use the latest advancements in the memory subsystem, specifically Compute Express Link (CXL), to provide additional memory and fast scratch space for DL workloads to reduce the overall training time while enabling DL jobs to efficiently train models using data that is much larger than the installed system memory. We propose a framework, called DeepMemoryDL, that manages the allocation of additional CXL-based memory, introduces a fast intermediate storage tier, and provides intelligent prefetching and caching mechanisms for DL workloads. We implement and integrate DeepMemoryDL with a popular DL platform, TensorFlow, to show that our approach reduces read and write latencies, improves the overall I/O throughput, and reduces the training time. Our evaluation shows a performance improvement of up to 34% and 27% compared to the default TensorFlow platform and CXL-based memory expansion approaches, respectively.

The observed increase in air traffic volume leads to the development of methods like "free flight" aiming at better use of airspace. The expected consequence of the widespread implementation of this concept is the transfer of some air traffic management tasks to the aircraft. The aim of the research was to analyze the conflict resolution method in the airspace with the distributed air traffic control system (DATCS). The 3HC method was proposed, in which one aircraft bypasses the collision point by making a triple heading change. To determine parameters of the method, a conflict model implemented as a dynamic, stochastic, colored Petri Net (DSCPN) was used. Simulation experiments have shown that it is possible to select the parameters of the method that guarantee safety while minimizing the distance covered by the maneuvering aircraft. The starting point of these maneuvers should be selected as late as possible, i.e. when boundary separation is reached. In case of disturbances, however, the distance in which the collision point is omitted should be increased. The applied model and the simulation approach allow determining the relationship between this distance and the starting point of the maneuvers. It has been shown that the 3HC method can be used in DATCS for both free flight systems, where some of air traffic controller functions is performed by the aircraft crew as well as when it is delegated to an autonomous system of both manned or unmanned aircraft. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper is concerned with a multiple-objective flexible job-shop scheduling problem with dual-resources constraints. Both time and cost-concerned objectives are taken into consideration and the corresponding mathematical model is presented. Based on Maximal fitness function, a hybrid discrete particle swarm algorithm is proposed to effectively solve the problem. The global and local search ability of the algorithm are both improved by modifying the position updating method and simulating annealing strategy with Maximal fitness function. Moreover, external archive is used to reserve better particles. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm demonstrated by simulation examples and the results show that the obtained solutions are more uniformly distributed towards the Pareto solutions. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

After years of research and development, artificial intelligence has become an indispensable strategic technology in the future international competition. With the progress of artificial intelligence algorithms, more and more deep learning models need to be deployed to embedded devices. However, the existing deep learning algorithms have high requirements for hardware computing power, and the performance of some intelligent chips is insufficient, which is bound to affect the performance of the algorithm. Therefore, according to the relevant characteristics of embedded system, this paper designs a set of artificial intelligence chip robustness evaluation system, and builds a task environment for a series of test algorithms. By counting the performance of the same group of algorithms on different chips, we can comprehensively evaluate the robustness of artificial intelligence chip. After testing several mainstream domestic AI chips, the effectiveness of the test method and the differences between chips are verified.

This paper presents an analysis of potential threats to information transmission in a GSM-R system, including technical factors, human factors and organizational factors. Modern telecommunications systems are exposed to a variety of hazards variable in time. In this paper, they are divided into three underlying groups: hardware and software related, intentional and unintentional as well as internal and external. The role of risk assessment in information security management is presented. Distinct phases of risk assessment process are characterized. Methods used in the process of risk assessment and risk planning are discussed, taking into account possible responses to threats and opportunities. Lastly, an original method for identifying threats and detecting vulnerabilities in railway radio communication systems is presented. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Global air transport carries about 7.3 billion pieces of luggage each year and up to 56 percent of travelers prefer obtaining real-time baggage tracking information throughout their trip. However, the traditional baggage tracking scheme is generally based on optical scanning and centralized storage systems, which suffers from low efficiency and information leakage. In this paper, a blockchain and edge computing based IOT system for tracking of airport baggage (BEI-TAB) is proposed. Through the combination of radio frequency identification technology (RFID) and blockchain, real-time baggage processing information is automatically stored in blockchain. In addition, we deploy Interplanetary File System (IPFS) at edge nodes with ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption (CP-ABE) to store basic baggage information. Only hash values returned by the IPFS network are kept in blockchain, enhancing the scalability of the system. Furthermore, a multi-channel scheme is designed to realize the physical isolation of data, and to rapidly process multiple types of data and business requirements in parallel. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first architecture that integrates RFID, IPFS, CP-ABE with blockchain technologies to facilitate secure, decentralized, and real-time characteristics for storing and sharing data for baggage tracking. We have deployed a testbed with both software and hardware to evaluate the proposed system, considering the performances of transaction processing time and speed.

The Internet is the darling of the information age. Its rapid development has brought a lot of wealth to the society, but it has also brought about increasingly serious security problems. In particular, the widespread application of e-commerce has made network security the most important part of the development of network technology. Network security technology is increasingly valued by computer researchers. Most of the existing security products are passive. The firewall can only be statically disabled. Although the Intrusion Detection System can dynamically detect the intrusion behavior, it cannot block the detected attack behavior. However, the impact of the intrusion prevention system on network performance and the high intrusion detection false alarm rate restrict the development and application of the IPS system. Especially on gigabit high-speed networks, performance has become the primary bottleneck of IPS systems. In view of the above problems, this paper proposes a distributed intrusion detection and blocking system that can run efficiently on high-speed networks. Such systems are also known as intrusion prevention systems IPS. Explain the structure of distributed high-speed network intrusion prevention system, and also introduce the related implementation technology and the realization of each part of distributed intrusion prevention system.

The increase in electricity demand has given the distributed Generation (DG) technology a boost in the power system. DG units are increasing expeditiously and majority of them are connected with distribution network in order to feed power in the local load and network as well. However, in order to do the maximum utilization of DGs few issues have to be discussed. Islanding condition is a standout amongst the most vital issue in this context. This paper discusses the various anti-islanding protection methods followed by a comparison between one of the active method with its improved variant on the basis of certain parameter.
