Road accidents are everyday in road traffic. The driver can influence the possibility of avoiding an accident in emerging situations. The basic defensive manoeuvre made by drivers in an emergency situation is braking before an obstacle, and one of the most important factors shaping the vehicle stopping distance, and consequently the possibility of collision and its potential effects at a given vehicle speed is the driver’s reaction time. The article presents selected results of the assessment of the reaction time of a group of drivers during tests in the driving simulator and on the test track during the actual driving. Based on these results, using the Monte-Carlo method and using the braking model known from the basics of car motion mechanics, calculations of the stopping distance were made and were determined collision probability characteristics depending on vehicle speed and distance from the obstacle. Such characteristics, apart from the cognitive aspect, can also be used in practice, e.g. by court experts, who in cases involving road accidents often have to answer the court’s question about the possibility of avoiding collisions. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A machine learning method (MLM) developed based on fuzzy logic control (FLC) has been proposed to control the vibration of the car's suspension systems. To apply the MLM, a quarter car model with two degrees of freedom has been established via MATLAB/Simulink. The reduction of the vertical car body's acceleration response is the objective function. Through FLC's logic rule and data maps of the different road surfaces, the MLM of ANFIS has been trained via its self-learning process to control the car's suspension system. The result indicates that the vibration response of the car's suspension system controlled by both FLC and MLM is reduced in comparison without the control. Particularly, the MLM has an obvious effect on reducing the acceleration response of the car body under different excitations of the road surface in comparison with the FLC. Consequently, the car's suspension system controlled by the MLM could further enhance the car's ride comfort compared to the traditional control methods. Copyright © 2021 Huaxiang Zhou, et al. According to published statistics, Sri Lanka produces garbage around 7000MT per day, and every organization directly contributes this national amount depending on the waste management practices. 'Waste contamination' is a critical issue that affects waste management, and it should be addressed during the garbage collection process. This has led to environmental hazards resulting in health and other social issues. Hence, it is a responsibility of an organization to separate the garbage during the collection process using a suitable technique. In this paper, we are proposing a smart garbage bin kit that automates the separation of garbage collection, which minimizes human error using AI-based technologies. IoT-based devices connected to a smart garbage bin kit guide the user to the correct bin. At the same time, our proposed system can be easily expanded for new special waste categories as well. The other important issue of the current garbage management is improper time management of the garbage removal process in organizations. This happens due to the lack of real-time data on waste bins, and collection is based on the fixed time interval irrespective of the status and location of garbage bins. In the proposed system of SMART Garbage Bin Kit, the group of all interconnected garbage bins is monitored in real-time to identify the optimum collection path considering the location and the status of garbage bins using an optimized algorithm. Hence, the study presented in this paper integrates several intelligent approaches together with IoT based network to build a cutting-edge device, declared as SMART Garbage Bin kit. The prototype system has been built as a part of the research study to demonstrate its feasibility and sustainability.

This paper considers an intelligent network traffic control technology for high-reliability IoT services based on edge computing technology featuring modular micro-service computing technology, intelligent traffic analysis and predictive technologies for various applications. This paper proposes an autonomous network traffic control system that takes into account the recycling of edge technologies. intelligent internet live monitoring service that provides online display of noise, vibration, gas readings, and field images on site as quickly as possible in the event of a civil complaint and efficiently store to prevent on-site images. This intelligent IoT edge computing technology proposes the structure, procedures, configuration and behaviour of intelligent IoT edge computing technologies, including IoT Things, data collection, data analytics capabilities, and gateways for delivering processed information to cloud servers. It applied smart construction monitoring as a representative service example.

An important element in the communications, providing a high level of requirements for transport by rail, is the need to ensure access to and exchange of data in a strictly defined time regime. Another determinant of is to provide a guarantee of reliability. The achievement of these requirements is possible by evaluating current capabilities and adequate to the needs of implementing modern solutions. However, future hardware and software platforms incorporating new technologies and technologies are not always applicable to rail transport communications systems. Therefore, they require detailed analysis from the point of view of meeting the critical indicators i.e. Kg (availability factor), or MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) and MTTR (Mean time to repair). Another aspect is the use of redundancy. The choice of method depends on the analysis of possible events in the environment in question. Proposed by the authors of the new variant does not require significant investment and is a flexible solution that provides the desired fitness of technical and functional correctness. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

We consider distributed Kalman filter for dynamic state estimation over wireless sensor networks. It is promising but challenging when network is under cyber attacks. Since the information exchange between nodes, the malicious attacks quickly spread across the entire network, which causing large measurement errors and even to the collapse of sensor networks. Aiming at the malicious network attack, a trust-based distributed processing frame is proposed. Which allows neighbor nodes to exchange information, and a series of trusted nodes are found using truth discovery. As a demonstration, distributed Cooperative Localization is considered, and numerical results are provided to evaluate the performance of the proposed approach by considering random, false data injection and replay attacks. © 2019 IEEE.

Nowadays, distributed storage systems have been widely used in the world, e.g, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Baidu PCS, etc.. Although these cloud storage services significantly facilitate the file storage for users, the performance of them varies widely when using in different countries. For example, Google Drive has high upload/download speed in America while it has very low upload/download speed in China. Therefore, to enhance the reliability and security of the cloud storage, in this paper, we firstly design a multi-cloud based distributed storage platform, named as, Normal Drive, by utilizing random linear coding and APIs provided by multiple cloud disks. We then implement the Normal Drive and conduct extensive evaluation from different aspects in five different locations around the world to test the performance of it. The experimental results show that the proposed Normal Drive can significantly improve the transmission performance and enhance the reliability of file storage when comparing with single-cloud based distributed storage system. © 2019 IEEE.

Traditional IT infrastructures are gradually becoming obsolete and an alternative way to store, manipulate, and retrieve data. Namely, cloud computing is gaining momentum to replace the traditional computing environment. Sharing of resources over a distributed network is the main motive of cloud computing in order to provide consistency and reliability of the shared resources while keeping a check on the monetary factor involved. The resources available in cloud can not only be shared by multiple users, but are also be facilitated to reallocate with every demand. So, there has been always a focus on best techniques to provision the available resources in the cloud. Cloud resource provisioning mechanisms must follow some service-level agreements (SLAs) in order to abide by customers demand properly. Terrorism, having spread its roots throughout the world, has become a grieve matter of concern globally. In simple words, terrorism is the use of violence to create fear and alarm. Terrorism being a major challenge, the paper deals with how terrorism can be combated using the fastest growing and most effective technology of computer science, i.e. cloud computing. An understanding of the history, nature and mechanism will contribute towards the eradication of terrorism. Here, we will use a directed graph that will provide us with an interconnected network of terrorists’ activities based on the data collected from the Global Terrorism Database (GTD) for a certain period.
