Focused on the issue that making satellite CAd models is time-consuming, which is caused by its complex structure and various components, the assembly modeling technology for satellite virtual assembly is studied. The satellite components are stored in a tree structure. Each node in the tree represents a satellite component. The assembly relationship between components is represented by the parent-child relationship between nodes. Besides, constraint is automatically formed between parent and children so that children could be operated with parent. Based on the tree structure, three functions to facilitate the satellite assembly is designed and realized, which could improve the assembly efficiency. The main purpose of this paper is to present a second order reliability, stress andstability analysis of the steel plate girder with the corrugatedweb subjected to the Gaussian random fluctuations in its web thickness. Such an analysis is carried out using the stochastic Finite Element Method (SFEM) based on the generalizedstochastic perturbation technique anddiscretization of structure with the volumetric finite elements. It is numerically implemented using the FEM system ABAQUS and the symbolic algebra system MAPLE. We compare the perturbation-based results with these obtained from the traditional Monte-Carlo simulation and, separately, an analytical solution calculated by a symbolic integration carried out in MAPLE. The reliability index is calculated according to the First Order Reliability Method (FORM) or Second Order Reliability Method (SORM) and can be further used in durability prediction of such structures. A stochastic variable is web thickness, whose randomness comes from an extensive corrosion or manufacturing imperfection.
