Classmate friendships are a major aspect of university social experience. Taking classes together is one of the main ways for students to build friendships. Consequently, class-level friendship networks have attracted tremendous attention from researchers. They are also very useful in student support and early intervention. However, these networks are normally invisible for educators. Discovering such an important web of students effectively is a pressing problem. Against this background, we propose a data-driven framework called CAndY which automatically discovers the class-level friendship networks based on educational big data. We first represent features through representation learning methods. Secondly, the data is augmented with the randomly shuffling method. Thirdly, a conditional generative adversarial network model is used to mine the class-level friendship networks. A deep adversarial optimization strategy is proposed here for problems caused by network sparsity. To evaluate the performance of the proposed approach, we build a real-world dataset that contains rich student information. Extensive experiments have been conducted and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework.

With technology development approach to cleaning changed as well. The vacuum cleaner robot market suggests a wide choice of different models. Choosing the model with optimal price, engine power, noise level, and other significant parameters is troublesome. In this case, MCDA methods can be helpful, which also proofs that it can also be used to daily decision problems. In this paper, two of them are used: the COMET and the TOPSIS. The first step is to analyze the subject and determine characteristic criteria. The second - selecting some market models which would be ranked. The third - normalize data for the TOPSIS method. After these preparations, both methods can be applied to our models, and alternatives can be ranked. Two MCDA methods were selected to compare MCDA methods based on the distance to reference objects. This simple study case also shows that the COMET method returns more accurate results and presents the advantages of this method. In conclusion, further research directions are shortly discussed. Several studies have been conducted at the Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka since 2004 to integrate Computer Aided Language learning (CALL) for enhanced performance. In contrast to the initial studies conducted 15 years ago, many technological advances have occurred in the recent past making a strong presence in the language classroom leading to major changes in hitherto existing teaching and learning approaches. This paper presents the results of a study conducted over four academic years at the University of Kelaniya in teaching German to intermediate and advanced learners with the assistance of an online learning platform. In addition to the subjects of previous research, this study also includes two new groups of students from international Studies offering selected third year course units in German.

Blockchain has unique advantages in data privacy protection and data integrity. We can solve many security problems, such as the single point of failure and data sharing in the current centralized system through blockchain approach. Existing studies have demonstrated that the application of blockchain in the medical system could improve the patient's medical experience. However, we found that the blockchain-based medical systems didn't consider the problems of long insurance claim cycle and complicated procedures. There are also very few healthcare systems that provide targeted sharing protocols for medical data and personal health data. In this paper, we propose a multi-role healthcare data sharing system framework based on blockchain. In this system, we reduce the storage cost through the collaborative storage of blockchain and IPFS. Then we design a smart contract on insurance to help patients achieve automatic insurance claim. In addition, we design two different sharing protocols to realize the fine management of personal data. The system analysis shows that our proposed blockchain-based multi-role healthcare data sharing system can effectively address the actual needs of users and has perfect performance in data storage, privacy protection, insurance claims and personal data management. © 2021 IEEE.

Nano Aerial Vehicles have become widely used for a variety of complex missions due to their mobility and the ability to access hard-to-reach areas. In most cases, these tasks require the vehicles to land on ground targets or perch on platforms mounted on diverse surfaces. Considering the surface the vehicle will reach, controlling perching is obviously a challenging task. Besides, the reliability of target position and direction estimation has a significant impact on perching performance. In this paper, a multi-sensor-based target pose estimation for autonomous precision perching of nano drones is proposed. First, the perching target, a cube cage containing a small marker inside a larger one, is designed to enhance pose estimation capability at a wide range of distances. Second, we constructed a nano drone with an upward monocular camera and a 5-direction multi-ranger deck. Next, the flying vehicle’s pose toward the perching target is calculated, followed by a Kalman filter for filtering and estimating the missing data. Finally, we introduced an algorithm to merge the pose data from multiple sensors when drones approach close to the target. Real measurements are conducted on the testbed. The experimental results demonstrated the utility and potential of the adopted approach with millimeter-level precision.

The objective of this paper is to propose an interactive practical work platform for the real-time broadcasting of the audio/video flow of a surgical team in the operating room to students in a practical work room. To do this, we combine Voice Over IP (VoIP) with Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) to have an interactive television that makes the viewer active and able to ask questions. The platform is accessible through a unique web interface developed in PHP. To ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the data transferred between the hospital and the university, we used a VPN server. Thanks to the encoding technique used in the platform, the multimedia flow is fluid regardless of the available bandwidth. Thus, the problem of high-speed Internet access in rural areas of developing countries does not affect the quality of the multimedia flow.

With an ever-increasing demand for wireless access capacity, the Millimeter-wave (mmWave) has become a promising technology for the forthcoming B5G/6G communications. Unfortunately, consistent high accuracy beam tracking is still a challenging task due to the narrow beam of mmWave. To address this challenge, we propose an intelligent neural network (NN) embedded Kalman filter (KF) scheme. The KF filter can provide robust beam tracking but with a penalty of accuracy loss, if the state transition function deviates from the changing of beam direction in practical scenarios. In our proposed scheme, the acquisition of the state transition function in the KF is converted to a neural network training process by introducing variance Bayesian inference. Therefore, the proposed scheme is a hybrid model-data-driven solution, which improves the prediction accuracy while inheriting the KF robustness. To verify the effectiveness of our proposed solution, we implement the proposed scheme on a software-defined radio system and conduct field testing. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the existing beam tracking methods in terms of mean square error of beam angle prediction.

To develop problem-solving skills during engineering studies, students must be given the opportunity to act independently and to apply their expertise in professional application situations with feedback that promotes learning. Although practical projects in university teaching deal with real-world problems, individual support and promotion of the students is often difficult due to a lack of personnel and time. Asynchronous learning methods such as e-learning platforms, on which exercises can be made directly available to students, offer a supplement to this. Since the problems of design theory do not contain a unique correct solution but allow a multitude of valid results, the simple true/false question formats of most platforms are unsuitable for the evaluation of design tasks. In this paper a system architecture is presented which provides students with asynchronous design tasks, automatically evaluates solution variants and thus supports the solution process individually by direct feedback. The functionality of the described system was verified and tested by several students, which allowed to demonstrate the usability of the system in the context of education. A subsequent evaluation presents the strengths and weaknesses of the task and the feedback generated by the system. © international conference on engineering and Product Design Education, E and PDE *** right reserved.

In this article, we propose an automatic resource discovery system in a Wide Area Network (WAN). The proposed platform, developed in NodeJs and using ZeroConf, allows to dynamically discover all resources available in the local networks of the partner universities. Each resource is represented by an identifier including its hostname, port and IP address in the remote local network. Thanks to a VPN client, the student can connect to the remote network where the resource is discovered. Then, he has the ability to take control of any resource connected through the noVNC tool. This solution contributes to improving the mutualisation of resources through e-learning training.
