Facial expression recognition is one of the fields that nowadays has attracted the attention of many researchers. It is possible to automate facial expression recognition using artificial intelligence methods. This will be of great help to researchers, especially in areas such as psychology. Automatic facial recognition can be derived from a static image of facial expression, but a better and more efficient way to do this is through a sequence of images. In this paper, a new method is proposed to automatically detect facial expressions from a sequence of images. Each sequence of facial images begins with a face neutral state and ends with one of the six main emotions. Motion vectors are extracted from the sequence using optical flow algorithm. These vectors are then used to train the conditional random field and finally to automatically determine the emotion. In this paper, in addition to the basic conditional random field, the hidden dynamic conditional random field is also investigated. Additionally, the effect of changing some parameters of these algorithms such as different optimization methods has been investigated. Given that a facial expression is recognized during a sequence of images, random field-based methods can be used for efficient classification of facial expressions reaching accuracy (more than 90%) competitive with the best existing methods for facial expression recognition.

The accelerated rate of scientific development and technology contributes the expansion of products of intellectual activity exchange between countries and the formation of international scientific and technical relations. Scientific and technological progress has gone beyond the national wealth of a single state and has acquired an inter-ethnic character. With the development of modern forms of economic cooperation, the need for specialists with new communication capabilities is increasing. That is why an important task of engineering education is to ensure high quality language training based on multilingual approaches to training and considering the current and future needs of science and industry. In the framework of foreign language training at Kazan National Research Technological University the technocommunicational competence on the base of multilingualism is organized for developing the professional and technical communications. The technology of technocommunicational competence forming can be used in any engineering university, as well as in the system of supplementary vocational education.

The number of software projects developed collaboratively on social coding platforms is steadily increasing. One of the motivations for developers to participate in open-source software development is to make their development activities easier accessible to potential employers, e.g., in the form of a resume for their interests and skills. However, manual review of source code activities is time-consuming and requires detailed knowledge of the technologies used. Existing approaches are limited to a small subset of actual source code activity and metadata and do not provide explanations for their results. In this work, we present CodeCV, an approach to analyzing the commit activities of a GitHub user concerning the use of programming languages, software libraries, and higher-level concepts, e.g., Machine learning or Cryptocurrency. Skills in using software libraries and programming languages are analyzed based on syntactic structures in the source code. Based on Labeled Latent Dirichlet Allocation, an automatically generated corpus of GitHub projects is used to learn the concept-specific vocabulary in identifier names and comments. This enables the capture of expertise on abstract concepts from a user's commit history. CodeCV further explains the results through links to the relevant commits in an interactive web dashboard. We tested our system on selected GitHub users who mainly contribute to popular projects to demonstrate that our approach is able to capture developers' expertise effectively.

data integration is the process of selecting, preprocessing, and transforming data from heterogeneous sources in data-driven projects. This process also requires the most time, effort, resources. data integration is such an involved process due to the many informed decisions one has to make. These decisions are influenced by the complex context of a data-driven project. We argue that using said context could facilitate the decision-making processes and even automate some integration steps. However, the problem we identify in this paper is that the context of a data-driven project is tacit and, therefore, not easily accessible by humans and certainly not by software agents. From the SotA, however, we observe that current models represent the context in crude and simplistic terms. These context models are furthermore built for specific tasks or application domains such as query optimization or a smart home. The current state of affairs is thus is not fit for intelligent data integration. Next to identifying the problem, we postulate that solving this problem requires two steps: formalizing context and using that context for building context-aware agents. We illustrate this notion of "context-aware data integration" with preliminary results obtained with a use case in the domain of GDPR, more specifically the generation of datasets that takes into account informed consent.

Participatory design (PD) is a method that focuses on the nature of collaboration, enabling users to participate actively in the design process and assess the feasibility of the design and give feedback. The characteristics make it suitable for application in the field of education, to train students to explore the user's needs for products and participate in the solution of the problem. However, applying PD in the educational environment is not easy because it is difficult to find product users to participate in the teaching process throughout the school. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to design, construct, and develop a smart voice assistant. It can act like a product user to have a smooth conversation with students. The intelligent voice assistant will give feedback to students. This study has analyzed the dialogue between users and designers by the past PD research and found out the intention in the process of dialogue based on the engineering design process. And based on these intentions, the experience in the use of products, product requirements, unmet, and other information was collected into the database. The developed intelligent voice assistant can partially replace the real user in the PD. An experiment will be conducted to confirm the effectiveness of the developed intelligent voice assistant.

Multiple academic and industry-based communities have engaged in defining the theoretical constructs, practical approaches, and technical standards for technology-enabled systems of human learning. However, conceptual and architectural models of Adaptive Instructional Systems (AISs) often focus on the functions of the technology, with the learner as a user external to the system. We offer an AIS model that considers the learner as a key component at the heart of a learning system. The learner, along with other human actors and environmental conditions, interact with technology components in a distributed learning system. Modular components surrounding the learner are interoperable. data flow between the components using standards-based interfaces for instrumented and adaptive learner experiences. The model builds on functional components identified by Glowa & Goodell (2016) in Student-Centered learning: Functional Requirements for Integrated Systems to Optimize learning. The model is further informed by the IEEE workgroup P2247.1 developing a standard for the classification of adaptive instructional systems. It examines the learning system at a conceptual level and then maps those conceptual categories to functional components as modules in a distributed learning system. The model is rooted in the process of learning engineering as defined by the IEEE Industry Connection Industry Consortium on learning engineering (ICICLE). We envision future design and development of adaptive instructional systems benefiting from an emerging learning engineering discipline that embraces an iterative problem-solving approach. The proposed AIS model is a self-improving system by design that embodies key learning engineering processes. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Teachers' digital competences are the key to streamlining the existing processes and tasks of teaching work, as well as a ticket to qualitatively new ways of managing the learning process of pupils and students. The change in the content of education, accompanied by expanding demands on teachers' competences, is reflected by the number of scientific studies, research plans, and scientific literature. However, there is a lack of systematic summary of research findings in the field of digital competences of teachers, who can be considered the main actors of paradigmatic change in education. It is, therefore, appropriate to analyze the research studies carried out in the area of digital competences of teachers, which will enable the reflection of the current state of knowledge in this area. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to elaborate a systematic review study that provides an insight into the methodology of these researches and their main results. Methodologically, the paper is based on the analysis of published research on the digital competences of teachers. The result is a systematic review study summarizing the basic findings.

The paper substantiates the problem of timely determining the need for specific educational services and competent and instant provision of these services in the context of the requirements of relevance, variability, and attractiveness in the higher education system. It was noted that in order to provide higher education of the appropriate degree in specific specialties, postgraduate education, and additional educational services, educational and professional programs, curricula, work programs in academic disciplines, didactic training projects, diagnostic tools require the development. In accordance with the types of educational services of higher educational institutions and educational documentation, which reflects the characteristics of the provision of these educational services, factors that influence the type and nature of the developments have been established. The tasks that can be assigned to the developer of educational documentation have been formulated. The types of information and computer operations the execution of which is relevant to the performance of each of the tasks and sets of tasks have been justified. On the example of the curriculum, the work of the computer system supporting its compilation has been demonstrated.

Knowledge graphs have two views: an entity graph in the instance view and a concept graph in the ontology view. Recent studies reveal that modeling the two graphs jointly can benefit the understanding to either one. However, the existing work has flaws on both modelling the hierarchical structures in the Euclidean space, and capturing the deep cross-view interaction between an entity and its corresponding concept. In this paper, we propose to explore hyperbolic space for two-view knowledge graph embedding, which provides more effective and efficient embedding learning mechanism, especially for hierarchical structured knowledge. We also propose to capture the deep cross-view interaction between an entity and its corresponding concept through modeling local structure information from intra-view neighbor nodes with hyperbolic attention mechanism. Finally, we propose to maintain the structural correspondence between the concept graph and the entity graph by first encoding two graphs with the same embedding model respectively and then aligning the two graphs with a hyperbolic transformation. Our empirical study conducted on two benchmark data collections proves that our model outperforms several state-of-the-art two-view knowledge graph embedding models.

Plethora of available heterogeneous transactional data and recent advancements in machine learning are the key forces that enable the development of complex algorithms that can reach human-level performance on an increasing number of tasks. Given the non-linear structure composed of many layers of computation, these highly accurate models are usually applied in a black-box manner: without a deeper understanding of their inner mechanisms. This hinders the transparency of the decision-making process and can often incorporate hidden decision biases which are potentially present in the data. We propose a framework for generating decision-making models conforming to Decision Model & Notation standard based on complexity-reducing techniques. An ensemble of decision-tree classifiers in a layered architecture is proposed to control the bias-variance trade-off. We have evaluated the performance of the proposed method on several publicly available data-sets tightly related to socially sensitive decision-making.
