Confidence Based learning (CBL) is a newer method of teaching and learning system that not only identify the knowledge of a typical learner but also takes care of the confidence level in the knowledge for its practical use in professional world. Unlike, other e-learning systems, the CBL first assesses a learner and identifies the knowledge level and skill gaps and the limitation of confidence level. The authors in this manuscript propose a k-ary tree structure to represent tasks and Atomic Competencies (ACs) related to an Instructional Objective (IO). Structure of learning Object (LO) and 2-dimensional assessment technique for CBL is available, but it lacks in proper trace of progressions. A mining technique using LRS for improvised identification of limitations of a learner is also suggested in the research. In this research proposal, the authors explain how a k-ary tree may be used for implementation of the tasks and ACs so that proper diagnosis can be performed, and a customized learning content can be provided. The authors proposed an optimization technique using Huffman/Dynamic Huffman Tree to quantify the progression towards mastery. The research article emphasizes of the progressive model towards the learners' mastery. This not only provide a learning map to the learner but also help the course designer to trace the respective learners' performance.

This paper provides an overview of a team-based approach to learning physics in a second-level course for non-majors entitled Light, Sound, Action (LSA) taught at XX University. Designed using a workshop format, LSA provides students numerous opportunities to learn physics using a number of interactive engagement strategies. These interactive engagement strategies provide the backbone for the structure of the course. Using a carefully crafted set of collaborative activities, students in LSA engage in a wide range of experiences in a team setting. Within these collaborative activities are strategies aimed at enhancing communication and building community within the classroom. Perceptions about the team-based collaborative activities in LSA will be presented based on the responses to a short survey sent to students who have taken the course in the past three years. One emergent theme based on these results is that the community-building, team-based activities used in LSA can serve to transcend the classroom experience and carry over into other domains.

Thai universities are now offering more classes with English as language of instruction. However;for learners who are non-English speakers, juggling both academic and language learning can be a challenge. English Proficiency, while show some significance relations to academic performance of non-English speaking students in English learning environment, the assumption that better English proficiency result in better academic performance might not consistent with the reality, as students possess different level of attitude and psychological state. While previous research could only indicate substantial but unclear relationship between AP and ELP, this research attempted to identify a missing link, namely, 'commitment to learning', that cause student's AP to vary. This research explored and described how student's commitment to education affect the relationship between AP and ELP in a more human-oriented approach by considering human factor and student's psychology into picture. This research employed a holistic approach and took background of each subject into account. Focusing on students of an international bachelor degree program, their psychological profile were established and examined alongside result of academic and English language proficiency to identify pattern in commitment to learning. Pattern of 'commitment to learning' were then investigated. This research further uncovered the 6 factors that influence their level of 'commitment to learning' which could be psychological factors that explain the inconsistency of academic performance and English language proficiency.

The research objectives were to (1) develop the supervision model of professional experience training by using the intelligent portfolio with the service agent (2) evaluate the suitability of the development model, the supervisory model, the professional experience training by using the intelligent portfolio with the service agent. This paper presented the supervision model of professional experience training by using an intelligent portfolio with the service agent. As a result of the study and there was a synthesis of the intelligent portfolio model in order to be the supervision model of professional experience training by integrating the service agent technology. In this format found that the intelligent portfolio with a service agent for the supervision model of professional experience training consisted of the four main components as follows (1) the import factor, (2) the process, (3) the evaluation, and (4) the feedback. With the intelligence of the service agent, the information could be screened and retrieved in accordance with the criteria of the rubric. The results of the research could be applied to the vocational certificate education to enhance the professional skills in practicing vocational training under the curriculum of the office of the Vocational Education Commission. The results of the evaluation of the supervision model of professional experience training by using the intelligent portfolio with the service agent found that the average score on all side was at the highest level.

It is unclear whether socioeconomic factors affect the incidence of respiratory infectious diseases in China. This article uses generalized linear model and generalized additive model to analyze the relationship between socioeconomic factors and infectious diseases. Studies have shown that both models can reflect the relationship between socioeconomic factors and infectious diseases, but generalized additive model has better goodness of fit. Nationwide, considering the impact of a single economic and social factor on the incidence of respiratory infectious diseases, the GDP Per capita, age structure of population, local fiscal budgetary receipts and proportion of higher education have a significant impact on the incidence rate of five diseases (p © 2020 IEEE.

The theme of the "Industry 4.0" has become relevant. Forecasts of futurologists are starting to come true;the boundaries between the physical, digital and biological spheres are blurring. The breadth and depth of these changes foreshadow a radical transformation of entire branches and areas of social life, including the system of Higher Education. Given the high rate of these changes the Education System should now be focused on training the Engineer of Future "Not Yet Existing Professions". Therefore, the goal of our study is to identify the requirements for the engineering education under the influence of the 4th Industrial Revolution. This study applied qualitative data analysis. The data were taken from different sources and literature and then it were discussed and analyzed. The soft skills of a competitive professional can be listed as follows: (i) IT skills - the role of ownership of information technologies is increasing (ii) Working with information skills. Big data implies "information literacy", which includes searching for information, assessing the quality and reliability of information sources, as well as the ability to effectively use the information received and share it (iii) Teamwork skills. The role of an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving, which implies the possession of professional interaction and teamwork skills, taking into account intercultural differences, is growing (iv) Flexibility, adaptability and learning. The high speed of transformations will lead to the need to retrain and change the profession, which means that the role of self-development skills increases based on the principles of lifelong learning (v) Cognitive skills. The development of the above skills is impossible without the development of the cognitive sphere, including reflection, metacognition and critical thinking. The study of the requirements for professionals in the conditions of the 4th Industrial Revolution showed the need of development the soft skills.

engineering is a field or discipline, practice, profession and art to cater to social needs. Always it works in the real world. Therefore, having hands-on experience and working with a group of people will contribute better solutions to society need. Higher education is the place where students get an opportunity to work with peers with similar interests. Collaborative learning is active learning which contributes many outcomes that are beneficial to learners and all other group members in participating and getting responsibility for their own learning. This research is to find out how we can improve Sri Lankan engineering students' interaction via collaborative learning by using mobile technology. Furthermore, we try to answer the question how Moodle mobile APP based instructional activities can be designed and developed as tools to enhance student interactions among engineering students to achieve outcome based education? Design-Based Research (DBR) approach was taken to develop the course for online collaborative learning. Gilly Salmon's five stage model was adopted to deliver the course. All facts considered, applying Salmon's five stage framework to design blended courses could highly result in providing active online and traditional learning.

This paper describes how a Moodle-based PBL educational model was integrated into the first year of a Bachelor of engineering course in Civil engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. To determine the perceptions of students regarding a PBL application prepared in a Moodle environment, a survey questionnaire was prepared. Students' submission rates and students' discussions were monitored through Moodle log records. Learner's feedback on PBL activities, experience in Moodle, perspective on group discussion and its effectiveness were collected through the structured questionnaire and group interviews. Designing an online PBL environment in Moodle helps to popularize the learning Management System (LMS) among teachers and students engaged in engineering and it will contribute an online PBL model to develop Moodle Web and Moodle Mobile support for PBL.

Lung cancer is one of the leading death causes by cancer worldwide. Early diagnosis increases the patient's cure chances. This diagnosis is made by computed tomography, an imaging exam that provides accurate information about the nodule. However, it depends on many external factors, from equipment quality to the fatigue of expert who analyzes. Image processing techniques might be great allies in early nodule detection, once it has no human limitations. This study presents an evaluation of two deep learning approaches, 3D U-Net and 3D V-Net, with different configurations of architectures, parameters, and data augmentation distribution applied to pulmonary nodules segmentation. The best results obtained mean an IoU of 0.74 and 0.99 for 3D U-Net and 3D V-Net, respectively. The second network obtained the best results because it is a much more robust network than the 3D U-Net, since it is a network developed for volumetric data processing. © 2021 IEEE.
