Missing data is a significant problem impacting all domains. State-of-the-art framework for minimizing missing data bias is multiple imputation, for which the choice of an imputation model remains nontrivial. We propose a multiple imputation model based on overcomplete deep denoising autoencoders. Our proposed model is capable of handling different data types, missingness patterns, missingness proportions and distributions. Evaluation on several real life datasets show our proposed model significantly outperforms current state-of-the-art methods under varying conditions while simultaneously improving end of the line analytics. © Springer international Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018.

Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) in design is an essential facilitator for the development and implementation of smart cities, where modern cooperative transportation and integrated mobility are highly demanded. Owing to greater availability of different data sources, data fusion problem in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) has been very challenging, where machine learning modelling and approaches are promising to offer an important yet comprehensive solution. In this paper, we provide an overview of the recent advances in data fusion for Mobility as a Service (MaaS), including the basics of data fusion theory and the related machine learning methods. We also highlight the opportunities and challenges on MaaS, and discuss potential future directions of research on the integrated mobility modelling.

The deluge of data on scholarly output created unique opportunities for identifying the drivers of modern science, for studying career paths of scientists, and for measuring the research performance. These massive data and processing methodologies have given rise to an exciting new field, namely Science of Science (SoS) as the successor of what is called scientometrics or informetrics for many decades. Science of Science is the offspring of the fertile cooperation of many disciplines, such as network science, statistics, machine learning, mathematical analysis, sociology of science and so on. In this article, we provide a comprehensive coverage of recent advances in SoS related to network analysis, prediction and ranking, and investigate the issue of scientist ranking from a multilayer network perspective. Towards this goal, we contrast by experiments the well-known h-index and the recently proposed indicator C3-index to a generalization of PageRank for multilayer networks, namely BiPlex PageRank, which is based on solid tensor analysis. Both the obtained results and the brief survey of SoS will deepen our faith to SoS and stimulate further efforts in this transdisciplinary field. © 2018 Association for Computing Machinery.

This paper aims to the proposal of a method for acquiring data from industrial processes for further data mining analysis and for obtaining new knowledge from the process data. This paper covers initial stage of a project which is devoted to process data analysis for failure prediction and process optimization. This project will be in further stages evaluated in real automotive production company. In this paper we try to point out current state of data acquisition in automotive production companies and also the importance of collecting process data in order to meet Industry 4.0 requirements.

In the digital world IT security is every ones responsibility, ranging from ensuring that your devices are installed with the latest anti-virus and firewall software, through safe personal accounts, to being smart about how to handle yourself online. The digital natives are online from the very early stage of their life and when they are mature enough, their education to be IT security aware becomes crucial. This paper presents the relationship of IT security awareness with social factors, the features of digital learning and the use of smart phones within the framework of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) using the Structural Equation Modeling (SIM) with the AMOS programme in the Hungarian context. These external factors as input variables are in correlation and this paper also strives to explore the nature of computer and internet literacy as well as IT security awareness of the member of the early Z generation.

The application of current reverse engineering techniques can be integrated into a modern field of tools that support the development of the economy not only in the engineering industry. The main idea of this paper is to diagnose problems with a non-destructive method by use of the created device and reverse engineering tools, to obtain data that will be merged into individual views and obtain a cloud of points transformed into spatial views of hard-to-reach machine part locations.

Modern digital technologies shift educational practice and methodologies toward collaborative and computer-supported learning. On the one hand, the attitude and approach of students in higher education raises the questions whether the Z generation fully accepts technologies, uses fully self-directed online learning, or requires the blended learning approach. On the other hand, educational methodologies are going through reforms and focuses on the integration of digital technologies available in the digital society. This paper firstly investigates the computer usage, the digital learning behaviour and habits of the early Z generation among Hungarian students. Beyond the e-learning courses offered in Hungary by universities either as stand-alone courses or part of blended learning, it must be considered how Z generation students, opposite to earlier generations, who used mostly professional literature and libraries, gather and gain information and knowledge from the web. Secondly, this paper analyses whether the members of the early Z generation form a transitional generation between the Y and the Z generation being rather digital immigrants and not digital natives.

Farmers explore the capabilities for applications of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) with image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning, so its logical to ask where best to apply this technology for maximum effect. Machines can do automated tasks better, cheaper and faster. One can use the camera from the sky and measure things on the earth especially on cropland from drones and satellites. Over time, drones have increased in capabilities and fallen in cost, and their use has greatly expanded especially in complex terrain. High quality remote sensing with spectral imaging using drones makes them interesting for regular use in Precision Agriculture (PA). Drones are often used in agriculture in ways that were highly controversial only a short time ago even there are no unified legislation on drones usage in agriculture. In this paper we address problem of Remote Sensing (RS) technologies combined with Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) platforms to support and develop selected agriculture operations like map or sensor-based Variable Rate Application (VRA).

This paper describes the voisTUTOR corpus, a pronunciation assessment corpus of Indian second language (L2) learners learning English. This corpus consists of 26529 utterances approximately totalling to 14 hours. The recorded data was collected from 16 Indian L2 learners who are from six native languages, namely, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi and Gujarati. A total of 1676 unique stimuli were considered for the recording. The stimuli were designed such that they ranged from single word stimuli to multiple word stimuli containing simple, complex and compound sentences. The corpus also consists of ratings representing overall quality on a scale of 0 to 10 for every utterance. In addition to the overall rating, unlike the existing corpora, a binary decision (0 or 1) is provided indicating the quality of the following seven factors, on which overall pronunciation typically depends, - 1) intelligibility, 2) phoneme quality, 3) phoneme mispronunciation, 4) syllable stress quality, 5) intonation quality, 6) correctness of pauses and 7) mother tongue influence. A spoken English expert provides the ratings and binary decisions for all the utterances. Furthermore, the corpus also consists of recordings of all the stimuli obtained from a male and a female spoken English expert. Considering factor dependent binary decisions and spoken English experts' recordings, voisTUTOR corpus is unique compared to the existing corpora. To the best of our knowledge, there exists no such corpus for pronunciation assessment in Indian nativity.

A large amount of the daily activities carried out by people takes place in buildings, which implies the need to maintain optimal thermal comfort conditions, while trying to keep energy consumption at acceptable levels. This work presents the design of a nonlinear controller aimed at improving the operation of a fan-coil unit (FCU) based on feedback linearization techniques. data for modeling and control purposes were obtained from a room of the CIESOL bioclimatic building located at the University of Almería, South East Spain. Results demonstrate how advanced control techniques help to improve the operation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in buildings.
