Given the recent rise of autonomous shipping, the knowledge of environmental seaway awareness has become imperative for automated control systems onboard and autonomous units in general. The real-time wave data enables the decision-maker to evaluate dynamic wave loads on the marine structure and efficiently monitor/operate the vessel's conditions on and off-site. To this end, the wave buoy analogy (WBA) aims to benefit from 6 DOFs ship responses to estimate the induced wave specifications. Although this concept has been extensively scrutinized, the integration of AI and its subsets, machine and deep learning in this field is new. So, the objectives of the current research are twofold;the first is to take advantage of temporal and spectral information for seaway estimation in a deep learning model. The second is to propose a solution addressing two significant issues of WBA: the time lag between the exciting wave and corresponding estimation and stabilizing outputs. The study uses a setup to integrate an ARIMA-EMD predictive filter to adjust sampling window size adaptively on the upcoming data based on the anticipated fluctuations. A major advantage is that filter helps to reduce time lag while improving estimation stability. The response data is synthesized according to a tested semi-submersible platform at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) research institute, where the time series is transformed into the pictorial presentation through several processing stages to feed a deep learning network. For training, the concept of transfer learning has been utilized by a pre-trained network, AlexNet. The result is promising and provides a foundation for attaining real-time wave updates in operational scenarios.

The Internet has surpassed print media such as newspapers and magazines as the primary medium for disseminating public news because of its rapid transmission and widespread availability. This has made the study of how to gauge interest in online stories a pressing concern. Mashable News, one of the most popular blogs in the world, is the main source for the dataset used in this study, which was collected at the UCI data repository. Random forest, logistic regression, gaussian naive bayes, k-means and multinomial naive bayes are the four kinds of machine learning algorithms used to forecast news popularity based on the number of times an item has been shared. Gaussian naive bayes provides the most accurate predictions, at 92%. The findings suggest that Gaussian naive bayes method improves prediction and outlier detection in unbalanced data. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Mobile Adhoc Networks (MANET) evolves towards high mobility and provides better provision for connected nodes in Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANET) and that faces different challenges due to high dynamicity in vehicular environment, which encourages reconsidering of outdated wireless design tools. Several applications like traveler evidence system, traffic management and public transportation systems are supported by intelligent transportation systems (ITS). In order to improve traffic safety, public transportation and compact eco-friendly contamination ITS supports well using smart city urban planning scheme. In this survey we reviewed more number of papers and extracted various insights about the high mobility node and its environment. Parameters like packet delivery ratio, traffic security, traffic density, transmission rate etc. are considered and measured its contribution towards the attainment of parameter in the scale of high, medium and low. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The Covid-19 epidemic ushered in a new era of hybrid learning. After the Covid-19 pandemic, information technology (IT) acceptance is no longer a problem. And given that it is the "postdigital", technology-related constructs should be updated and devoted to creating a lifelong agile learning environment (LE). The research question is how to manage collaborative learning (CL) activities through online integrated platforms to better serve outcome-based education (OBE). This research reviews the digital transformation advancement in learning management systems and points out that the digitalization LE breeds postdigital learning, which is based on IT "affordance" and well organization and distribution of course resources. When led by OBE, this paper employs qualitative synthesis research and to foster personal development summarizes the appropriate method for managing CL activities as student-centered lifelong learning, organization of role-based activities, and all-around assessment. Finally, the findings are a conceptual framework for student-centered learning within digitalization LE and an illustration of a curriculum with a customized Feishu of ByteDance performing CL. The contribution involves learning in less structured environments, such as an advanced enterprise collaboration and management platform, which prompts creative and innovative approaches to uncertainty and change. As a result, the practical implication facilitates students to find both their will and their own creative and exploratory ways of lifelong learning.

The prevalence of glaucoma as a major cause of irreversible blindness worldwide necessitates advancements in early detection and management methodologies. This paper introduces a novel automated approach to glaucoma detection using the Random Forest (RF) algorithm applied to retinal fundus images, known for its robustness in handling high-dimensional data and pattern recognition capabilities. Our methodology involves a comprehensive feature extraction process to identify key indicators of glaucomatous changes in the retina, enhancing early diagnostic accuracy. We detail the implementation of the RF algorithm, supported by mathematical models to optimize its diagnostic precision. Through rigorous validation on diverse datasets, our method demonstrated superior accuracy and efficiency compared to traditional and other machine learning-based approaches. The RF model showed promising results, achieving an accuracy of 92%, sensitivity of 89%, specificity of 95%, and an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.97. These findings establish a significant step towards revolutionizing glaucoma diagnostics, offering a scalable and reliable tool for healthcare professionals. This study not only contributes to the field of network optimization but also underscores the potential of genetic algorithms in meeting the dynamic demands of wireless network setup, suggesting pathways toward more adaptive and intelligent network solutions. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the rapid advancements in big data and high-performance computing technologies, the application of deep learning models in the fields of computer vision and signal image processing has become increasingly widespread. To address the low efficiency and accuracy in the recognition of multimodal emotional EEG signals, this study integrates the latest deep learning network models, leveraging the advantages of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in EEG feature extraction and the strengths of long short-term memory (LSTM) networks in processing dynamic temporal information. Therefore, this study employs CNN models to extract features from multimodal EEG signals, followed by feature vector fusion using LSTM, and classification using softmax. The network model constructed in this study achieved an accuracy of 92% in the three-class emotion recognition. Compared with traditional classification methods, the CNN-LSTM network model exhibits higher recognition efficiency due to its combined advantages in feature extraction and dynamic temporal information processing. Compared to using CNN or LSTM models alone, this model also shows a significant improvement in recognition accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

Healthcare has undoubtedly brought many advancements through information technology. Specifically, healthcare informatics involves the use of various technologies, data management and communication systems to collect, store, analyze and effectively disseminate information. Therefore, the above serves to improve care as well as patient outcomes, improve efficiency, promote innovation and data analysis, as digitization has become an integral part of our daily lives in today's world. However, with the increased use of interconnected systems and electronic health records, hospitals have become prime targets for cyber-attacks. In this article we will delve into the critical topic of cybersecurity in hospitals as well as nursing facilities. The deepening of this issue was carried out with extensive analysis of the security systems of Greek hospitals. We investigated all their web sites and the security systems already in place on those sites. By checking we found a number vulnerabilities and potential risks. The most important weakness is the lack of legal as well as technical information for all interested citizens and patients. More organizational as well as technical work concerning internal architecture of information systems is needed, towards the improvement of security. In conclusion, we present our proposals on strategies to strengthen healthcare facilities against cyber threats. © 2024 international conferences e-Society 2024 and Mobile learning 2024. In this study, we tackle the path-tracking problem of a nonlinear four-wheel steering vehicle dynamics model subject to model mismatches and propose a model predictive control (MPC) algorithm based on an event-triggered mechanism (ET-MPC). The goal is to maintain closed-loop control performance while reducing the computational and communication burdens of traditional MPC. We introduce an ET-MPC framework utilizing a model-free reinforcement learning agent with proximal policy optimization (PPO). This agent interacts with the MPC system, progressively learning to determine the optimal event-triggered mechanism. To enhance exploration and training efficiency, we incorporate the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) technique into PPO. Experimental results show that the proposed ET-MPC framework, combined with reinforcement learning for reward optimization, demonstrates superior overall performance in path-tracking control of four-wheel steering vehicles. © 2024 IEEE.

The integration of blockchain platforms with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies is increasingly frequent in research and industry. Semantic Web technologies provide peculiar opportunities, since they have been devised for information interoperability at Web scale and enable intelligent software agents for knowledge-driven task automation and decision support. The paper presents a blockchain platform extending Hyperledger Sawtooth with Knowledge Representation and Reasoning features. Semantic Smart Contracts allow annotated resource registration, discovery -leveraging non-standard inference services for semantic matchmaking-, explanation -exploiting logic-based justification provided by the adopted inferences- and selection. A prototypical semantic-enhanced ridesharing service has been built to validate the proposed framework and a time-series data collection infrastructure has been deployed for performance analysis.
