Sequential pattern mining algorithms are unsupervised machine learning algorithms that allow finding sequential patterns on data sequences that have been put together based on a particular order. These algorithms are mostly optimized for finding sequential data sequences containing more than one element. Hence, we argue that there is a need for algorithms that are particularly optimized for data sequences that contain only one element. Within the scope of this research, we study the design and development of a novel algorithm that is optimized for data sets containing data sequences with single elements and that can detect sequential patterns with high performance. The time and memory requirements of the proposed algorithm are examined experimentally. The results show that the proposed algorithm has low running times, while it has the same accuracy results as the algorithms in the similar category in the literature. The obtained results are promising.

Aiming at the problem that previous autoencoders (AEs) were generally unable to handle higher-order modulated signals with a input encoded by one-hot, a strategy of segmented encoding of the input data and a parallel-convolutional neural network (PCNN) model are used to apply the AE to high order modulation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can handle 4096QAM signals and has an acceptable classification accuracy which is beyond the traditional algorithm. In addition, the Gate Recurrent Unit (GRU) layers are introduced into autoencoder for channel coding and result a huge gain.

Family polymorphism is an object-oriented programming feature which facilitates the definition of groups of classes (families) that are allowed to be used together while statically forbidding them to be mixed with classes outside their families. Unfortunately, this feature has not been yet adopted by mainstream industrial-strength programming languages. Consequently, in Java, the idea of non-mixable families is prone to be implemented in a statically unsafe fashion, affecting the programs' intelligibility. In order to support program comprehension, we present an approach to detect code fragments where types of references are correlated within a family; nonetheless, these correlations are hidden behind the references' declarations. We obtained promising results during the initial design and evaluation iterations, based on the analysis of a software system where the presence of families was previously reported.

This paper studies how developers use different programming languages in the iOS ecosystem by examining 161,883 releases of 25,231 third-party libraries spanning 11 years available through CocoaPods, a popular iOS dependency manager. Our empirical study shows that since its release, Swift has been widely adopted, but most libraries, even recent ones, still use Objective-C as their primary programming language. Looking at a small set of 38 open-source iOS apps, instead, we observe that apps are instead predominantly written in Swift by now. We also observe significant C usage across both libraries and apps. Our results suggest that analysis tools for iOS apps should not only support Swift, but also Objective-C and C code.

Civil engineering structures may seriously suffer from different damage states result of earthquakes. Nowadays, retrofitting the existing buildings is a serious need among designers. Two important factors of required performance level and cost of retrofitting play a crucial role in the retrofitting approach. In this study, a new optimal computational strategy to retrofit structures by implementing linear Viscous Dampers (VDs) is investigated to achieve a higher performance level with lower implementation cost. Regarding this goal, a Tcl programming code was developed with the capability of considering damaged structure due to earthquake-induced structural pounding. The code allows us to improve structural models to take into account the real condition of buildings using both MATLAB and Opensees software simultaneously. To present the capability of this strategy, the 3-, and 6-story colliding Steel Moment-Resisting Frames (SMRFs) were selected. Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) was performed based on the interstory drift ratio of floor levels as engineering demand parameter, and S-a(T-1) as intensity measure. Interstory median IDAs of floor levels of colliding SMRFs were plotted to find out the floor level prone to damage and to retrofit only this floor level instead of all stories. The results show that implementing only two linear VDs with a cost of two units can achieve a higher life safety performance level in the case of 3-, and 6-story SMRFs. Moreover, the proposed computational strategy can be used for any structure (with and without pounding conditions), and in all performance levels prescribed in FEMA 356 code.

Addressing the crucial challenge of autonomous navigation for unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs), this paper presents a dual-layer path planning method integrating Probabilistic Roadmap (PRM) and Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO). Combining global guidance with local optimization, this approach effectively mitigates the shortcomings of traditional path planning methods such as blindness and local optimality, thus enhancing the efficiency and feasibility of path planning. Specifically, we propose a PRM-RL dual-layer path planning framework that employs the PRM algorithm to generate sub-goals for guiding reinforcement learning exploration, thereby improving training efficiency. Simultaneously, we utilize the PPO algorithm to optimize paths, considering vehicle kinematics and introducing soft constraints to ensure smoother paths adaptable to diverse application scenarios. The superiority and practicality of our method are validated through ablation experiments and comparative experiments, offering a reliable path planning solution for autonomous navigation of UGVs.

Time series data has the characteristics of strong randomness, complex data structures, and high non-stationarity. Time series probabilistic forecasting is of great significance for quantifying the uncertainty in time series. This study presents a novel probabilistic forecasting approach that is distribution-free and relies on the normalization flow technology. The developed method utilizes normalization flow to transform complex target distributions into simpler ones, which is convenient for probabilistic modeling of the target distributions. Additionally, the method we have developed employs both convolution and attention mechanisms to identify temporal patterns across both short and extended timeframes within the time series. Comprehensive empirical assessments across various real-world time series datasets confirm that the proposed method surpasses standard models in predictive accuracy.

The main objective of this paper is to study the influence of severe utility voltage dips on the wind-energy-based system. The system comprises a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), which allows for both stator and rotor control during unavoidable events such as voltage dips. Two different techniques have been applied to keep the wind system connected to the grid during faults. The first technique implements new crowbar protection by controlling the Rotor-Side Converter (RSC) switches so that either all the upper or lower switches are on. Doing so avoids the need for hardware components such as external resistors and switches. The second technique is to modify the applied control system of the DFIG to alleviate the influence of dips on the system quickly and accurately. The main applied modification is adding a low-pass filter to ensure the steadiness of the reference current of the RSC. Both applied techniques are validated via MATLAB/Simulink simulations. A thorough comparison is presented to illuminate the merits and demerits of each technique. © 2021 IEEE.

Linux as a GPOS has the advantages of high average system throughput performance, a large number of open-source solutions, etc. It is a mature and complete operating system that can be used for in-vehicle system development. However, the vehicle in motion will produce a large number of real-time tasks, that need to be processed by the system promptly, and Linux's kernel preemption mechanism and interrupt mechanism are not designed to deal with real-time tasks, so they need to be improved. In this paper, we analyze the operation principle of each part of the Linux system, expound on the shortcomings of Linux as a real-time system, and then analyze the enhancement principle of Preempt_RT and Xenomai two kinds of patches on Linux real-time, and finally, we analyze the experimental data by carrying out experiments and applying probabilistic statistics to derive the results of Xenomai and Preempt_RT for Xenomai and Preempt_RT improve the task response latency of Linux system by 250% and 114%, respectively.

Models evolved from mere pictures supporting human understanding to sophisticated knowledge structures processable by machines. This entails an inevitable need for computer-understandable models and languages and causes formalization to be a crucial part in the lifecycle of a modeling method. An appropriate formalism must be a means for providing a unique, unambiguous but implementation-independent way of specifying arbitrary modeling languages and for this purpose must be generic and open to capture any domain and any functionality. In this paper we give a pervasive description of the formalism MetaMorph based on predicate logic - an approach fulfilling these requirements. This is done with an extensive proof-of-concept case illustrating the application of the formalism concept by concept. For the case study we use the modeling language ProVis from the domain of stochastic education. The language ProVis comprises only few objects and relation types but with high interconnection and therefore appears as a interesting specimen for formalization and showing the feasibility of the demonstrated approach.
