Printing 3d objects is exciting and engaging for young learners. However, how can this emerging technology benefit the development of skills, such as Computational Thinking (CT) anddesign Thinking (dT), through a meaningful process of imagining, designing and tinkering with objects that could be used in real-world problems? Our knowledge is still limited, due to the complexity of designing 3d printable models from scratch with the existing digital tools. This paper discusses a web-based tool that enables learners to create anddynamically manipulate the behavior and properties of 3d printable models with high-level programming. This design aims to foster computational thinking, creativity, anddesign thinking skills as it focuses on the design process of the model, its behavior and its usage after printing. It also presents the results of a pilot study in which secondary school students engaged in a design Thinking project for designing and printing sustainable everyday objects using this design. The study revealed new kinds of educational potential of 3d printing including the understanding of complex mathematical and CT ideas that were too complicated before, and the connection of CT practices with real-world problems through the implementation of a design Thinking project with digital media.

Understanding Astronomy involves the perception of 3d phenomena, most often too small or too vast to be easily interpreted or visualized. This research aims to develop and evaluate an Augmented Reality application prototype for learning 3d Astronomy concepts and phenomena in middle school. Relating the technology impact with the educational experience, this work evaluates the usability, in a real classroom context, of a developed prototype. The results revealed a high degree of acceptance and satisfaction among the students.

We focus on the sensor fusion for vehicle-side and roadside 3d object detection and tracking. Although quite a few sensor fusion algorithms have been proposed, some of which are top-ranked on various leaderboards, a systematic study on how to integrate three crucial sensors (LidAR, camera and millimeter-wave Radar sensors) to develop effective multi-modal 3d object detection and tracking for vehicle-side perception is still missing. Therefore, we first study the three sensors' strengths and weaknesses carefully, then compare several different fusion strategies to maximize their utility. Finally, based on the lessons learnt, we propose a simple yet effective multi-modal 3d object detection and tracking framework (namely EZFusion). Without fancy network modules, our proposed EZFusion makes remarkable improvements over the LidAR-only baseline, and achieves comparable performance. For intelligent transportation, far-range perception with roadside sensors is vital. The main challenge of far-range perception is performing accurate object detection and tracking under far distances (e.g., > 150m) at a low cost. To cope with such challenges, deploying both millimeter wave Radars and high-definition cameras, and fusing their data has become a common practice. Towards this goal, the first question is to conduct the association on the 2d image plane or the BEV plane. We argue that the former is more suitable because the magnitude of location errors in the perspective projection points is smaller at far distances on the 2d plane, leading to more accurate association. Thus, we first project the Radar points to the 2d plane and then associate them with the camera-based 2d object locations. Subsequently, we map the camera-based object locations to the BEV plane through inverse projection mapping (IPM) with the corresponding depth information from the Radar data. Finally, we engage a BEV tracking module to generate target trajectories. Our system is capable of achieving an average l

To investigate the complex topic of technology-enhanced learning, the design science research process suggests iteratively creating many separate artifacts. This time-consuming process leads to repeated implementations of similar features in parallel artifacts. We deduced that common requirements exist in the learning scenarios which can, thus, be fulfilled as reusable modules. In this paper, we identified these requirements and present our open-source toolkit with solutions for identifying learners in a login, importing 3d content from the web and managing this downloaded content, automation of interactions with mixed reality agents as mentors, integration in existing learning infrastructures and collecting data for learning analytics. With this modular design science research approach, multiple artifacts can be developed in parallel to investigate separate use case environments and other researchers can build upon the technical solutions to concentrate on the learning concept of their own mixed reality artifact.

3d grey image segmentation has become a promising approach to facilitate practical applications with the help of advanceddeep learning models. Although a number of previous works have investigated the vulnerability of deep learning models to backdoor attack, there is no work to study the severe risk of backdoor attack on 3d grey image segmentation. To this end, we propose two backdoor attack methods on 3d grey image segmentation, including Full-control Backdoor Attack (FCBA) and Partial-control Backdoor Attack (PCBA), on 3d grey image segmentation by leveraging a frequency trigger injection function and a rotation-based label corruption function. Our proposed trigger injection function is applied to insert a 3d trigger pattern into the benign 31) grey images in the frequency domain while ensuring the invisibility of the trigger pattern. And the proposed rotation-based label corruption function is employed to yield the crafted labels with the aim of decreasing the performance of segmentation. Finally, through comprehensive experiments on a real-worlddataset, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed backdoor models, the frequency trigger injection function, and the rotation -based label corruption function.

This paper presents results anddescribes a solution and techniques allowing for transformation of highly detailed real world maps into simpler maps for using in 3d mobile games applications running on medium and low computing power devices. This approach is especially interesting for 3d apps developers focusing on real world maps that can be implemented in games like tycoons or strategies. The obtained results show possibility of achieving good compromise between level of details extracted from original maps and high performance of realtime 3d graphics generated on mobile device.
