Stitching underwater videos captured by a hand-held camera can essentially enhance the entertainment experience. However, underwater video is difficult to stitch due to its shortcomings in definition, visibility, shakiness and parallax. In this paper, we propose a video stitching system for underwater videos captured by mobile cameras. Our method consists of three components, underwater image enhancement, unified video stitching and 3d projection. The underwater image enhancement is a component based on Relative Global Histogram Stretching (RGHS). After the processing of this component, videos with higher definition and better visibility can be obtained, which will benefit the subsequent video stitching. The unified video stitching is a component based on background identification. Through background identification, we divide video stitching into two steps: background video stitching and foreground video stitching. This makes the stitched panoramic video more stable and the picture more natural, which is the key to heavy shakiness and large parallax problem. In addition, we have also studied the playback of the panoramic video to make it more immersive. We test the proposed system on videos that are captured by hand-held cameras when diving, and use SSIM, UCIQE, UIQM, and stitching score to quantitatively evaluate the generated panoramic video. The experimental results prove the effectiveness and robustness of our method in various cases, and the better video stitching results than existing methods. © 2021 IEEE.

Production of composite structures by liquid composite molding is preceded by numerical modeling of the impregnation process to predict various parameters based on the permeability of reinforcement as the key input parameter. X-ray computed tomography (XCT) combined with computer simulations is a very effective and flexible technique for characterization of material permeability virtually. Although the XCT based virtual permeability method is robust, but it is limited by computation power hence restricted to a comparatively small computational sample which could be non-representative. In this research, an efficient methodology based on the cell approach to calculate virtual permeability of fibrous reinforcement based on micro XCT segmented images is presented and discussed. The 3d model was generated from the stack of XCT images, followed by the division of the model into several smaller domains, called cells, as consecutive and parallel (CaP) cells. The local permeability of each CaP cell was computed with the commercial computational fluid dynamics tool. The obtained permeability values were statistically processed considering each CaP cell, resulting in the global permeability value, and compared with the literature data and analytical predictions. The uniformity in the fiber distribution is assessed for each CaP cell and its effect on the local permeability is also discussed. A methodology for processing XCT segmented image of fiber reinforced composite laminate is assessed and successfully used to evaluate the uniformity of fiber distribution and its intra-tow virtual permeability. © 2023 international Committee on Composite Materials. Researchers have proposed employing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) equipped with dedicated short-range communication (dSRC) devices to provide supplemental vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) links in temporary traffic hot spots where static roadside units (RSUs) are lacking. However, existing studies have largely ignored the limited communication range of UAVs, which leads to the inefficiency of vehicular networks. To address this limitation and enhance the overall performance of vehicular networks, we propose an innovative air-ground cooperative architecture. The architecture involves the utilization of UAVs equipped with dSRC devices, serving as flying-RSUs, to provide temporary V2I links for vehicles. Simultaneously, we consider vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) links to extend the coverage and service capabilities of UAVs. Under this air-ground cooperative architecture, we formulate a service-throughput maximization problem by optimizing the 3-dimensional locations of UAVs. The primary goal is to find the optimal locations of UAVs that lead to the maximum number of served vehicles while satisfying their data rate requirements. Since the problem includes a large number of binary and continuous variables, we propose a hybrid firefly and particle swarm optimization algorithm to efficiently solve it. Simulation experiments based on real taxi trajectory data in Shanghai verify the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.

Vertical Nanowire Field Effect Transistors (VN-WFETs) are an emerging technology with significant potential to reduce footprint and consequently interconnect capacitance, thereby achieving improved energy-efficiency and being naturally compatible with advanced 3d integration approaches. However, while initial estimations have focused on projections and estimations, no work has so far used a detailed compact model to attempt accurate transistor-level simulations for standard cell library characterization thus enabling logic synthesis. In this paper, we propose a design flow to make the link from an existing (laboratory-scale) VNWFET technology and the associated compact model, to standard static logic cell design and characterization, and ultimately logic synthesis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work to prove the possibility of such a realistic design flow tailored to VNWFET technologies.

The importance of social communities around open-source software projects has been recognized. despite that a lot of relevant research focusing on this topic, understanding the structures and dynamics of communities around open-source software projects remains a tedious and challenging task. As a result, an easily accessible and useful application that enables project developers to gain awareness of the status and development of the project communities is desirable. In this paper, we present MyCommunity, a web-based online application system to automatically extract communication-based community structures from social coding platforms such as GitHub. Based on the detected community structures, the system analyzes and visualizes the community evolution history of a project with a set of semantic-rich events, and quantify the strength of community evolution with respect to different events with a series of indexes. Built-in support to quantitative analysis and machine learning tasks based on the quantitative evolutionary events are provided. We demonstrate the usefulness of the system by presenting its ability in predicting project success or failure with the community evolution features. The results suggest the system achieves a prediction accuracy of 88.5% with commonly available machine learning models.

The SLAM algorithm has been extensively researched and has gained significant relevance in our daily lives, particularly with the advancements in robot technology and autonomous driving. Currently, SLAM can be largely divided into 2d SLAM and 3d SLAM. In the case of 2d SLAM, accurate mapping and localization of the plane can be achieved with low computational requirements. However, it has the limitation of not considering 3d information. In contrast, 3d SLAM can generate maps and perform localization in complex indoor spaces with obstacles by incorporating 3d data on objects. However, it may face challenges in real-time implementation in embedded systems due to high computational demands. In this paper, we propose a 2.5d SLAM using the Life Long Feature(LLF) algorithm. First, 2.5d SLAM is a projection of 3d camera feature points that are not perceived by the 2d-Lidar onto the 2d-Lidar plane. The transformation matrix to project camera feature to 2d-Lidar plane is calculated by optimizing least-square problem of the same points recognized by the camera and 2d-Lidar. Additionally, the LLF algorithm enables the updating and maintenance of camera feature points based on the robot's current position, even when the camera is not perceiving objects. The difference in Field Of View(FOV) between the camera and the LidAR causes the problem of being recognized as a dynamic object and removing feature points. The LLF algorithm can solve this problem even when the object is within the range of the 2d-LidAR but not visible in the camera's FOV. In experiment, we confirmed our proposed 2.5d SLAM with LLF algorithm show better performance in detecting 3d objects and Mapping than pervious 2d SLAM.

3d NANd memory has become indispensable for high-density data storage, offering superior scalability and cost-efficiency. However, with shrinking memory cell sizes and increasing cell densities, precise control over fabrication parameters is crucial for optimal performance in advanced memory applications. The variability in string current is a significant concern for device performance and reliability. This paper employs technology Computer-Aided design (TCAd) simulations to investigate the impact of the dimensional variations on the string current, which subsequently alters the critical electrical properties of 3d NANd flash memory cells. We investigate variations in cell spacing, tunneling and blocking oxide thickness and channel thickness, that result due to process variations during etching, deposition and lithography. Our study assesses the impact of these factors on critical performance metrics, including on-current $({I}_{{on}})$ , threshold voltage $({V}_{{th}})$ , maximum trans-conductance value $({G}_{{m}})$ and sub-threshold slope (SS) of memory cells. The results indicate that changes in the plug depth have a negligible effect on the electrical parameters, while variations in cell spacing have a significant impact on these metrics. Under a worst-case 20% process variation in all dimensions, ${I}_{{on}}, {V}_{{th}}, {G}_{{m}}$ and SS deviate by approximately 78%, 21%, 38% and 14%, respectively. These results emphasize the need for precise fabrication control and variability-aware design to maintain the reliability and efficiency of high-density 3d NANd memory in advanced applications.

Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) microscopy enables imaging systems, performing label-free imaging with high sensitivity, high spatial and spectral resolution, 3d sectioning, and fast image acquisition. Nevertheless, due to the weak Raman cross-section of biomolecules, SRS images often suffer from low SNR, so SRS applications in biological/biomedical imaging can be compromised. In this paper, noise measurements in detection system of our in-house built Stimulated Raman Scattering microscope are carried out, demonstrating that it is shot noise limited.

This paper presents a tri-level coded differential signaling scheme for data transmission across 3d stacked ICs using inductive coupling links. The conventional H-bridge transmitters based single-ended signaling scheme increases the cross-talk due to interference between the inductive coupling links. The proposed transmitter involves a differential signaling scheme, which increases the signal-to-noise ratio by 5× times for the same I/O density. However, unlike the conventional differential signaling scheme which has a pin efficiency of 50%, the proposed tri-level coded differential signaling scheme has a pin efficiency of 83%. The complete design has been implemented in TSMC 65 nm technology for a communication distance of 25 μm having pin pitch of 130 μm. The simulated energy efficiency of the transceiver at 12.5 Gb/s data rate is 2 pJ/bit and it occupies an area of 0.044 mm 2 for an I/O density of $2.84\ \text{Mb}/\mathrm{s}/\mu\mathrm{m}^technology$ .

A path planning method for navigation experiment of Mars exploration is proposed. In this experiment, a cognitive navigation application is designed to research the working pattern of our Radiator-based Artificial Landmark Navigation (RALN) technique;and a path planning method is used to make the pre-set exploration path of this experiment. Regarding the path planning method, first, a series of threat sources, such as the harmful gas, windy weather, and uphill, are simulated. Second, a Sin-Cos Particle Swarm Optimization (SCPSO) method is developed. Third, both the threat sources and the SCPSO are considered to solve the optimal computation of path planning in the navigation experiment. Many experiment results have shown: compared with classic Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) the mean fitness function of SCPSO can be improved almost 10.0 when the iteration time is 100;and the processing time only increases about 3.0 s. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
