Cleft lip is one of the most common birth defects. Several operations are performed to form a natural lip. A problem with these operations is that the criteria for the facial symmetry are unclear. Based on this background, we propose a method for evaluating the facial symmetry using 4d point clouddata. We evaluate the facial symmetry in two ways. One is based on the temporal changes in the face landmarks. Corresponding points are searched using two local geometric descriptors. The results are approximated to the 3d lines and these slopes are compared to obtain the left-right difference of the movement. The other is based on the center of gravity. The lip part is extracted from the point cloud anddivided into subregions. The centroid coordinates are then calculated for each subregion and compared to obtain the left-right difference of the facial structure. The experiment is performed using artificially generated 4ddata. As an experimental result, it is shown that our method can find point correspondences with smaller error than comparative methods.

In this study, we propose an algorithm that determines a simple-shaped surgical path from the liver surface to its malignant tumor in 3d voxel space. The method has a good affinity with dICOM (digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine standards) captured by MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or CT (computed tomography). It also accounts for voxel density, which reflects the probability of the existence of blood vessels along the cutting path. The algorithm selects a path that avoids high-density voxels and the entangled blood vessels that spawn them.

Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is an integral process in manufacturing design, providing assurance of quality and structural integrity of a manufactured item. FEA involves conducting rigorous stress simulations on a designed model to study its structural behaviour when under specific loading scenarios. Current FEA tools involve viewing and manipulating the 3d model displayed on a monitor screen. A Mixed Reality (MR) user interface allowing for direct manipulation and specification of loading scenarios on a designed model was developed, thus enabling design engineers to find new ways of interacting and visualising FEA results for analysis and thus reducing unnecessary prototyping costs. Three gesture interfaces were developed to allow application of load parameters on a surface of a model, namely: Point-Apply, Point-Hold, and Point-drag. A pilot evaluation was conducted to study the suitability of each as an interface designed for engineers. Results suggest that Point-Hold is empirically the most usable interface compared to the other interfaces.

Aiming at reducing the embedding distortion and improving tamper localization accuracy, a semi-fragile reversible watermarking for 3d models based on IQIM (improved quantization index modulation) with dual-strategy partition modulation is proposed. Firstly, watermark is built based on the position data of vertices and the number of neighboring vertices within the first ring. With IQIM, a dual-strategy partition based on the relationship between the position of quantization coefficients within quantization units and the watermark information is built. It performs single or dual modulation of IQIM to vertices, which is helpful for reducing the distortion induced by watermark embedding in the 3d models. during watermark extraction anddata recovery, the watermark is first extracted based on the model vertex information and the original watermark is regenerated. The dual-strategy partition is performed based on the relationship between the position of quantization coefficient within quantization units and the regenerated watermark. Then, the model vertices are respectively recovered. Finally, by comparing the consistency between the extracted and regenerated watermarks, the integrity of the 3d model can be authenticated and the tampered area can be located. The experiments and analysis show that it outperforms several cutting-edge techniques from the aspects of embedding distortion and tamper localization capability.

Three dimensional user interfaces (3d UI) allow users to interact with virtual objects, environments, or information on the physical or virtual space. With the development of virtual reality technology, Tons of VR products tend to occupy the market quickly. However, the formulation of interface design specifications and the enhancement of user experience always be ignored. More than one-third of the users interrupted their experience during the market research because they did not understand the program operation. 3d UI is fundamental to Interactive in virtual space. Thus, this article introduces the basic overview of virtual reality, focusing on analyzing the main design differences between traditional and three-dimensional interfaces. This study's specific objective was to propose three-dimensional interface construction strategies mainly include: 1) Building a natural harmonious interaction relationship between man and machine;2) driving interface experience optimization through mental models.
