3d printing offers a very innovative opportunity for creating cheap or special rf-components like waveguides, couplers or antennas. However, these components require electrical conductive materials to be built of. Therefore, selective laser melting of metal powder is also an attractive production technology. In this paper, horn antennas and a directional coupler at 24GHz are shown and their production technologies are compared. By presenting a K-band branchline coupler it is shown that selective laser melting has some advantages over 3d printing.

In this work is proposed a general algorithm to design event reconstruction of chemical/physical process to elaborate nanostructures through anodization in small pieces of aluminum, in order to get Aluminum Oxide (AAO) simples ready to be characterized, furthermore to be integrated as sensors of physical variables. By studying the evolution of border’s curves composed of figures from AAO sample, which is captured through Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) is possible to make an integration in 3 dimensions (3d), furthermore the 3d figure obtained can be explained through mathematical model to estimate its geometrical evolution after physical/chemical reactions. In this work, there are analyzed images from every stage of the process to elaborate nanostructures based on AAO templates, such as for example the following sequence: image before cleaning process, images before electro polishing, images before anodization process;and finally, images after anodization which are expected to obtain a kind of nanostructures. Every image were processed studying [1], [8] in order to obtain a mathematical equation as reference to understand the geometry of the 3d structure based on its 2d image for every stage. By other side, with this information and processing every stage image, it was achieved a mathematical equation to describe the geometry of the structure between stages by "Optimal Prediction analysis" that is so important to get understanding of the structure geometry with internal process. © WMSCI 2019 - 23rd World Multi-conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics, Proceedings. In this paper, a method of analysis of conformal RF components has been proposed. In this approach, modeling of a curved structure is based on mesh deformation of planar objects rather than the construction of conformal geometry at CSG level. Since the model is represented as a 3d mesh, the deformation only requires the calculation of nodes position in the bent structure. The results of the proposed algorithm have been validated with simulation from other software and measurements, whereby method correctness has been confirmed.

The detection of trace carbonyl compounds has a great impact in human production and life. In this work, we developed a silicon based sensor with nanowire forests directly grown on a micropillar array to detect the trace level carbonyl compounds based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique. This 3d sensor was further integrated with a microfluidic chip. After surface chemical modification, the device was capable of capturing trace carbonyl compounds for preconcentration and further SERS detection. The proposed device was suitable for the fast, in-field detection of trace carbonyl compounds in liquid and gas samples. © 2019 CBMS-0001.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PdAC) is one of the most lethal cancers and carries a dismal prognosis. Surgery remains the best chance of a potential cure for patients who are eligible for initial resection of PdAC. However, outcomes vary significantly even among the resected patients of the same stage and received similar treatments. Accurate preoperative prognosis of resectable PdACs for personalized treatment is thus highly desired. Nevertheless, there are no automated methods yet to fully exploit the contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) imaging for PdAC. Tumor attenuation changes across different CT phases can reflect the tumor internal stromal fractions and vascularization of individual tumors that may impact the clinical outcomes. In this work, we propose a novel deep neural network for the survival prediction of resectable PdAC patients, named as 3d Contrast-Enhanced Convolutional Long Short-Term Memory network (CE-ConvLSTM), which can derive the tumor attenuation signatures or patterns from CE-CT imaging studies. We present a multi-task CNN to accomplish both tasks of outcome and margin prediction where the network benefits from learning the tumor resection margin related features to improve survival prediction. The proposed framework can improve the prediction performances compared with existing state-of-the-art survival analysis approaches. The tumor signature built from our model has evidently added values to be combined with the existing clinical staging system. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Accurate coronary artery centerline is essential for coronary stenosis analysis and atherosclerotic plaque analysis. However, the existence of many branches makes accurate centerline extraction a challenging task in coronary CT angiography (CCTA). In this paper, we proposed a branch-aware coronary centerline extraction approach (BACCE) based on double deep Q-Network (ddQN) and 3d dilated CNN. It consists of two parts: a ddQN based tracker and a branch-aware detector. The tracker can predict the next action of an agent accurately which can trace the centerline. The detector can detect the branch points and radius of coronary artery, and it makes our BACCE able to trace the branches automatically. Benefiting from the detector, our BACCE only needs one seed point to extract the entire coronary tree. Moreover, we proposed a new reward calculation based on dot product of two vectors and a new agent movement strategy based on twenty-six adjacent voxels, which were proved to improve tracing speed and accuracy. We evaluated the BACCE model on the public dataset in CAT08 challenge and experiment results demonstrated that our method achieved state-of-the-art results in terms of time-cost(7s), OV(96.2%), OF(88.3%), OT(96.5%) and AI(0.21mm) metrics. Moreover, we also demonstrated results on qualitative evaluation at the end. In this paper, we present an architecture for distributed augmented reality (AR) services. The presented architecture is based on a client-server design, which supports semantic modeling and building contextual AR presentations for a large number of users. It encompasses two approaches: SOA and CARE. The Service-Oriented Architecture enables building distributed systems that provide application functionality as services to either end-user applications or other services. In turn, CARE allows semantic modeling of AR environments, which combined with SOA enables dividing responsibility between loosely coupled semantic services distributed on the internet. We also provide the results of an experimental evaluation of the performance of a prototype based on the above-mentioned architecture. The findings are promising and demonstrate that an application of semanticweb techniques can be an effective approach to implementation of large-scale contextual distributed AR services.

3d point cloud technology facilitates the automated and highly detailed digital acquisition of real-world environments such as assets, sites, cities, and countries;the acquired 3d point clouds represent an essential category of geodata used in a variety of geoinformation applications and systems. In this paper, we present a web-based system for the interactive and collaborative exploration and inspection of arbitrary large 3d point clouds. Our approach is based on standard-webGL on the client side and is able to render 3d point clouds with billions of points. It uses spatial data structures and level-of-detail representations to manage the 3d point cloud data and to deploy out-of-core and web-based rendering concepts. By providing functionality for both, thin-client and thick-client applications, the system scales for client devices that are vastly different in computing capabilities. different 3d point-based rendering techniques and post-processing effects are provided to enable task-specific and data-specific filtering and highlighting, e.g., based on per-point surface categories or temporal information. A set of interaction techniques allows users to collaboratively work with the data, e.g., by measuring distances and areas, by annotating, or by selecting and extracting data subsets. Additional value is provided by the system's ability to display additional, context-providing geodata alongside 3d point clouds and to integrate task-specific processing and analysis operations. We have evaluated the presented techniques and the prototype system with different data sets from aerial, mobile, and terrestrial acquisition campaigns with up to 120 billion points to show their practicality and feasibility.

The rapid digitalization of the Facility Management (FM) sector has increased the demand for mobile, interactive analytics approaches concerning the operational state of a building. These approaches provide the key to increasing stakeholder engagement associated with Operation and Maintenance (O&M) procedures of living and working areas, buildings, and other built environment spaces. We present a generic and fast approach to process and analyze given 3d point clouds of typical indoor office spaces to create corresponding up-to-date approximations of classified segments and object-based 3d models that can be used to analyze, record and highlight changes of spatial configurations. The approach is based on machine-learning methods used to classify the scanned 3d point cloud data using 2d images. This approach can be used to primarily track changes of objects over time for comparison, allowing for routine classification, and presentation of results used for decision making. We specifically focus on classification, segmentation, and reconstruction of multiple different object types in a 3d point-cloud scene. We present our current research and describe the implementation of these technologies as a web-based application using a services-oriented methodology.

We introduce Screen Space 3d diff, an interactive method for fast and reliable visual differencing on the web. This method is based on the properties of 3d scenes in 2d space such as depth, color, normals, UV, texture, etc. The central idea states that if two objects project into the same screen space with identical properties, they can be assumed to be identical;otherwise, they are different. In comparison to previous works that require large computational overheads in 3d space, our approach is significantly easier to implement and faster to determine disparities. This is because screen space methods scale with resolution and not scene complexity. They also lend themselves to massive parallelization on modern GPU hardware, and have the added advantage of being accurate at pixel level regardless of magnification. The combination of these benefits allows for instant real-time differencing with minimal disruption to the rendering pipeline even on web browsers. We demonstrate two different implementations of this method;one in a desktop application and one in Unity 3d game engine on the web. The performance of the proposed method across a range of devices is presented and practical benefits of our approach are further evaluated in a user study of twenty professionals with several large-scale models that are typical of the Building Information Modelling paradigm. Based on this evaluation we conclude that our method is invaluable in day-to-day engineering workflows and is well suited to its purpose.
