Intensity is a very important characteristic of human behavior. Knowing behavior intensity you can make predictions about behavior, which can be used in a number of areas: sociology, economics etc. We present a Bayesian belief network estimating the behavior intensity based on data about last episodes of behavior. We consider the work of this model on the data about posting activity in the social network Vkontakte. The intensity rate predicted by the model and the actual intensity of users posting are compared. © 2020 ieee.

The results of theoretical and experimental studies of acoustic measurements at various angles of incidence of acoustic waves on the membrane of a condenser-type measuring microphone are presented, which have shown that, in order to minimize measurement uncertainty, technical microphones should indicate normalized frequency characteristics of sensitivity at different angles of incidence of the sound wave. © 2020 ieee.

Auto-scaling is a technique that allocates resources according to dynamic workload. This paper focuses on autoscaling with heterogeneous container configurations. The goal is to minimize the cost of container adjustments, and to reduce the resource insufficiency penalty, while maintaining high resource utilization. It is extremely difficult to achieve the minimal cost without knowing the future workloads in advance. Thus, we first propose an optimal dynamic programming algorithm that can scale optimally when given the future workload. This optimal solution is used as the baseline to evaluate other algorithms that do not have the future workload information. Then, we propose two greedy algorithms that do not need workload information in advance, and a heuristic algorithm that first predicts the workload of the next time step using Gradient Boosting Regression, then makes scaling decisions using the optimal dynamic programming algorithm. We evaluate these four algorithms with two realistic workload traces. The experiments show that when the cost to start new servers is much higher than resource insufficiency penalty, our short-term prediction approach will only increase the total cost by only 9.6%, and decrease the utilization by only 10%, when compared with the optimal dynamic programming that knows the future workload.

In cloud environments, the VMs within the computing nodes generate varying memory demand profiles. When memory utilization reaches its limits due to this, costly (virtual) disk accesses and/or VM migrations can occur. Since some nodes might have idle memory, some costly operations could be avoided by making the idle memory available to the nodes that need it. In view of this, new architectures have been introduced that provide hardware support for a shared global address space that, together with fast interconnects, can share resources across nodes. Thus, memory becomes a global resource. This paper presents a memory capacity aggregation mechanism for cloud environments called vMCA (Virtualized Memory Capacity Aggregation) based on Xen's Transcendent Memory (Tmem). vMCA distributes the system's total memory within a single node and globally across multiple nodes using a user-space process with high-level memory management policies. We evaluate vMCA using CloudSuite 3.0 on Linux and Xen. Our results demonstrate a peak running time improvement of 76.8% when aggregating memory, and of 37.5% when aggregating memory and implementing our policies.

In this paper, we present salient properties of the mathematical object: sequence (collection) of arithmetic progressions, with the inverse property: i^th terms of j^th and (j + 1)^th progressions are multiplicative inverses of each other modulo (i + 1)^th term of j^th progression. The theory developed (in my doctoral thesis) on the defined object paves the way for a novel design of cryptographic primitives for (i) symmetric key cryptography, (ii) entity authentication, (iii) end-end encryption, and (iv) crypto-currencies. In addition to being efficient, the proposed primitives are customizable as they support a wide range of values for their security parameters. The customization feature allows proprietary versions, which can be used in both civilian and military applications. The proposed primitives are amenable to parallelization and well-suited for hardware portability. The security of these primitives is based on an well-defined hard problem. Some special cases of the problem are shown to be equivalent to the problem of factoring large integers, a holy grail of mathematics, whose computational difficulty is central to the security of RSA cryptosystem. © 2018 ieee.

After a natural disaster, cellular communications may be hard to meet the needs of disaster relief due to the destruction of infrastructures, such as base stations and power stations. In order to transmit rescue data in time, the disaster relief network based on unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) is advocated to transmit rescue-critical data to the relief center. However, due to the driving-difficult roads in the disaster area and small communication coverage of UGVs, UGVs-assisted dis- aster relief network faces the challenge to quickly and accurately collect wide-range disaster information. To tackle this problem, in this paper, we first take unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV s) to develop a UAV-UGV collaborative disaster relief network architecture, where the UAV s with high mobility, wide view and agility can efficiently help UGVs to perceive the disaster information. Then, to realize the efficient data delivery between UAVs and UGVs with limited bandwidth resources, we devise a game-based bandwidth allocation framework. In specific, the multi-leaders multi-followers Stackelberg game is used to model the interactions between UGVs and UAVs, where each UGV acts as a leader to determines its bandwidth capacity and each UAV acts as a follower to determines its access selection based on the bandwidth capacity. Especially, the non-cooperative game model is introduced to analyze the competitions among UGVs, and the evolutionary game is utilized to study the strategy adjustments of UAV s. Through the backward induction method, the optimal access selection of each UAV and the optimal bandwidth capacity of each UGV are obtained, which form the Stackelberg equilib-rium. At last, extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional counterparts on the utilities of both UAVsand U G V s. © 2021 ieee.

In the cloud computing architecture, virtual machine (VM) live migration is a fundamental research topic which has drawn extensive attention from communities of industry and academy. It is critical to transfer the VM memory pages that contain essential state information to resume the VM on another host during virtual machine (VM) live migration. There are many memory copy methods, such as pre-copy and postcopy. However, these methods have two limitations: application generality and performance imbalance. In this paper, we propose Ada-copy (adaptive copy), an adaptive memory copy strategy for VM live migration. The basic idea of Ada-copy is that the memory copy method of a VM should be determined by its workload characteristics. Specifically, based on the variation of current dirty page rate of memory, Ada-copy can adaptively select the most appropriate migration method to copy memory pages, thus addressing the two limitations of existing memory copy methods. To evaluate the effectiveness of our proposed strategy, we experiment with the Ada-copy on a variety of migration tasks with different dirty page rate and diverse memory usage workloads. Evaluation results show, compared with traditional methods, Ada-copy can significantly reduce the total migration time by 26%, the VM downtime by 42% and the amount of pages transferred by 35% in average.

The article is aimed at studying empirical estimates of the sensitivity of the second task of a posteriori inference in a knowledge pattern. The article presents the results of an experiment on finding the relationship between the distortion of incoming information and the results of learning a knowledge pattern. Formally, information distortions were achieved by changing the estimates of the fixed evidence and finding the norm of the difference between the vectors of the original and the resulting evidence. Obtaining empirical estimates is the first example of studying the second task of a posteriori inference in a knowledge pattern. The relevance of the study is emphasized by the growing popularity of machine learning and, most importantly, data preparation, since ABS is one of the few models that can work with inaccurate data. © 2020 ieee.

As mobile devices become more capable, the need for customization of mobile services becomes increasingly important for users. Nowadays, mobile device sensors are able to collect information from users throughout the day, which gives insight into their profiles. The advent of modern System-on-Chip architectures has enabled mobile devices to tackle machine learning-oriented problems heretofore reserved to desktop computers. The recent success of deep learning makes it a method of choice for understanding the complex user patterns on mobile devices. Unfortunately, training a deep neural network is often considered as too computationally intensive on mobile devices. To address this issue, we consider transfer learning, a technique that aims to take advantage of deep learning features that have been previously learned to improve the learning performance of another neural network. In this paper, we propose a deep learning framework TransferCL, that supports transfer learning on mobile devices. Our approach relies on the collaboration of the multicore CPU and the integrated GPU to accelerate deep learning computation on mobile devices. We consider three major issues - performance/portability tradeoff, power efficiency, and memory management, propose our approaches, and conduct experiments to evaluate them.
