From washing machines, automatic doors, robot vacuum cleaners, to the self-driving system, or robot arms, automation has become common in modern life. The experience of using these products or systems depends on the performance quality and users' trust in the automation system. The experience can also differ from person to person since people have different desirability of control. This paper constructs a research framework and experiment design to explore the correlation between the humans' trust in robots, individual desirability of control, and their experiential quality in a human-robot cooperative task. When people can participate in a robot's task performance, our result suggests a positive correlation between trust and desirability of control.

Student response systems (SRS) are a popular and effective tool to promote active learning on site, improving student engagement and attention, motivation and learning performance. Traditionally, SRS are designed for on-site settings. However, the safety measures in relation to the recent COVID-19 pandemic result in remote teaching at an unprecedented scale, with online courses becoming the rule. In this paper, we discuss the utilization of interactive SRS in such remote settings for which they initially were not designed. Over the last term, we conducted several empirical surveys across different groups of computerscience students on undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and covering a broad age spectrum. The results indicate that, while common interactive features of videoconferencing tools, such as chat or polls, are well appreciated, there is still a need for dedicated SRS with game-based elements and feature sets beyond standard multiple-choice questions.

Facial expressions are important data to understand how systems in social environments impact people in it. The presence of new technologies and new coupled forms of interaction with the ubiquity of computing and social networks, present challenges that require the consideration of new factors as emotional. Socioenactive systems represent a complex scenario that requires the treatment of technological aspects in which the consideration of the social dynamic, enhanced by concepts such as affective computing and enactive systems. This work presents a proposal for facial recognition in the wild applied to outputs of socioenative systems. These results reinforce how the design of socioenactive systems can promote positive changes in the emotional state of children in an educational context and promote social interactions.
