(1) Theoretical research on asymptotic homogenization for unsteady-state thermal conduction, linear viscoelasticity and thermal expansion in the thermo-viscoelastic composite is respectively studied and analytical methods for effective density, specific heat capacity, numerical implementation methods for effective thermal conductivity, linear viscoelasticity and thermal expansion coefficient are presented. (2) Creating unidirectional-RVE and woven fabric-RVE through experiment method, calculating effective material moduli of GF/PEI composite and investigating the temperature gradient influence on the stress, strain and residual deformation during the forming process through experimental validation and numerical simulation. (3) Proposing a multi-step forming technique to fabricate GF/PEI composite wing leading edge and simulating the forming process of a GF/PEI composite wing leading edge to study temperature gradient and tool-part impacts on the residual deformation, as well as the mechanism of warpage during the demolding process on the macroscale. © 2023 international Committee on Composite Materials. The convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) in Industrial control System (ICS) comes with severe cybersecurity challenges that increasingly pose threats to critical infrastructures. In this challenging environment, numerous standards and data sources exist that aim to facilitate the exchange of information and guide security assessment, detection, and mitigation. Despite this wealth of information, the relevant data is currently fragmented and not available as an integrated knowledge base. Existing approaches to link and integrate Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) across sources and represent them in a machine interpretable and interoperable manner mainly focus on IT security in general, leaving the ICS domain largely unexplored. To fill this critical gap, we present an integrated ICS-SEC Knowledge Graph (ICS-SEC KG) to support analyzing and managing the security of ICSs. We describe the conceptualization and pipeline to construct the KG from a broad range of ICS cybersecurity data sources as well as the underlying processes and infrastructure to continually update it. To ensure quality and consistency, we apply ontology validation and a set of SHACL constraints. We validate our approach in two application scenarios derived from real-world security incidents in the industrial domain and demonstrate its usefulness for threat intelligence exploration and vulnerability assessment. From washing machines, automatic doors, robot vacuum cleaners, to the self-driving system, or robot arms, automation has become common in modern life. The experience of using these products or systems depends on the performance quality and users' trust in the automation system. The experience can also differ from person to person since people have different desirability of control. This paper constructs a research framework and experiment design to explore the correlation between the humans' trust in robots, individual desirability of control, and their experiential quality in a human-robot cooperative task. When people can participate in a robot's task performance, our result suggests a positive correlation between trust and desirability of control.

The eight day long blockage that started on 23rd of March 2021 at the Suez Canal, which is one of the busiest waterways of the world, requires serious contemplation and efficient solutions. The incident could have been evaded by rigorous planning and essentially monitoring the health of ships while entering the canal with respect to weather conditions and minimizing the scope of human error. Additional waterways are infrastructures that cannot be built soon, and therefore, an Internet of Things-based (IoT) system that is proposed here could be a boon and also be implemented rather soon. This paper proposes an IoT-based system level design that could assist shipping industry in considering managing the dynamics of waterways more efficiently by forecasting possible risks related to weather systems and status of ships infrastructure including human error. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The present study is a continuation of the results published in previous publications of the authors, which are used here. In the light of the widespread negative attitude towards the phenomenon of metastability in logic circuits, leading to their frequent erroneous switching, the study substantiated one benefit of this phenomenon. Based on the analysis and manifested useness of metastability, it was found that there are certain problems in the organization of the functioning of computer structures, which can be solved by successful using of this phenomenon. As a result, a definition for the logical operation of asynchronous arbitration is formulated. Based on its logical synthesis and hardware implementation, a two-input asynchronous arbiter is synthesized. For the latter, two possible logic circuits are presented, in which the possibility for operation control is realized. The statement that the synthesized arbiter is as sensitive and fast as possible is substantiated. A definition for arbitration operation is introduced and a logic function for each output of the multi-input asynchronous arbiter is synthesized. This created a methodology for the synthesis of fast combined asynchronous multi-input arbiters. The quantity of the basic hardware units when designing an n-input combined asynchronous arbiter is estimated. Both qualitative and quantitative assessments are given. The analysis of the final latencies of the events is performed and a logical structure for their measurement is proposed. © 2022 ACM.

The article discusses a method for dealing with concentrated acoustic interference in telecommunication audio exchange systems. The study and development of algorithms for processing speech signals that increase the efficiency of information-control telecommunication systems of audio exchange under the influence of external concentrated acoustic noise of high intensity are carried out in the work. A telecommunications system for transmitting speech information is considered, an algorithm for calculating the signal-to-interference ratio is proposed, the influence of noise interference on the perception of signals received at the output of a telecommunication system is estimated. An adaptive algorithm for generating a control signal is proposed, which makes it possible to turn off channels affected by concentrated interference, the efficiency of the proposed algorithm and the dependence of possible losses of a useful signal on the choice of a rejection band are estimated. © 2021 IEEE.

Student response systems (SRS) are a popular and effective tool to promote active learning on site, improving student engagement and attention, motivation and learning performance. Traditionally, SRS are designed for on-site settings. However, the safety measures in relation to the recent COVID-19 pandemic result in remote teaching at an unprecedented scale, with online courses becoming the rule. In this paper, we discuss the utilization of interactive SRS in such remote settings for which they initially were not designed. Over the last term, we conducted several empirical surveys across different groups of computer science students on undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and covering a broad age spectrum. The results indicate that, while common interactive features of videoconferencing tools, such as chat or polls, are well appreciated, there is still a need for dedicated SRS with game-based elements and feature sets beyond standard multiple-choice questions.

Due to the growth of Internet of Things devices, the dimensionality of the data has only increased. These devices generate a large amount of data which, after being processed, is one of the main sources of information for machine learning systems. However, only a small part of this data is truly relevant. Understanding the relevance of this data allows us to process it at the edge of the network and improve the performance of Artificial Intelligence systems. On the one hand, feature selection is one of the most common approaches to reducing irrelevant features. On the other hand, federated learning allows the exploitation of such data by machine learning models without the need to exchange raw data. Therefore, in this paper we present modifications to two widely utilised feature selection algorithms based on the Mutual Information metric to enable them to work in a federated environment. The experimental process conducted on several datasets and data distributions demonstrates the capability of our modifications to operate in such an environment without a loss of information. This enhances execution time and leverages specific particularities of these environments, such as increased security. © 2024 IEEE.

Facial expressions are important data to understand how systems in social environments impact people in it. The presence of new technologies and new coupled forms of interaction with the ubiquity of computing and social networks, present challenges that require the consideration of new factors as emotional. Socioenactive systems represent a complex scenario that requires the treatment of technological aspects in which the consideration of the social dynamic, enhanced by concepts such as affective computing and enactive systems. This work presents a proposal for facial recognition in the wild applied to outputs of socioenative systems. These results reinforce how the design of socioenactive systems can promote positive changes in the emotional state of children in an educational context and promote social interactions.
