In this study, online questionnaires were used to examine the sexting (sexual correspondence) habits of 547 students (113 boys and 434 girls) attending grades seven through 12, in an attempt to identify the correlation between parenting styles and the sense of social control experienced by the participants regarding their sexting habits. Findings of the study indicate that sexting was more prevalent among boys, of high-school age, attending mainstream secular schools in Israel (compared to girls, in middle school, attending national-religious schools, respectively). However, eliminating the religious students from the sample resulted in no gender difference in terms of sexting habits. Furthermore, it was also found that the weaker the degree of social control perceived by the adolescent, the greater was the likelihood that the adolescent was engaging in sexting activities. These findings shed light on sexting, a phenomenon which-despite its prevalence among youths in Israel and throughout the world-is insufficiently addressed by the significant adults in their lives. The implications of these findings for educators and school counselors are considered and discussed.

This paper proposes a Quaternion-based link prediction method, a novel representation learning method for recommendation purposes. The proposed algorithm depends on and computation with Quaternion algebra, benefiting from the expressiveness and rich representation learning capability of the Hamilton products. The proposed method depends on a link prediction approach and reveals the significant potential for performance improvement in top-N recommendation tasks. The experimental results indicate the superior performance of the approach using two quality measurements – hits rate, and coverage - on the Movielens and Hetrec datasets. Additionally, extensive experiments are conducted on three subsets of the Amazon dataset to understand the flexibility of this algorithm to incorporate different information sources and demonstrate the effectiveness of Quaternion algebra in graph-based recommendation algorithms. The proposed algorithms obtain comparatively higher performance, they are improved with similarity factors. The results show that the proposed quaternion-based algorithm can effectively deal with the deficiencies in graph-based recommender system, making it a preferable alternative among the other available methods. In this paper, we present a crossover experiment with a remote usability testing to validate a User Centered Design process applied to a point-of-sale user interfaces redesign, in which the original software product interfaces had a low grade of usability. It was developed as a structured usability remote test plan applied with two samples of users through a crossover experiment. Each sample was composed by 6 participants that had close knowledge about information systems features and other personality attributes obtained by the cashier profile designed through the personas technique. Cashiers are a fundamental role, since they use this software many hours per day, and are very rotative employees, that tend to be young people between 18 and 25 years old. We obtained favorable results, as each sample decreased their execution time in completing the 10 given tasks in more than one minute, which is a valuable time in sales, and it reduced their dependency to ask for help or making operational mistakes in the sale's process. They emphasized some improved points such as "more understandable labels", "more striking and pleasant colors", "better visualization of the components", and "much easier process to use".

Cooperative control of mobile robots allows to transport heavy loads collaboratively between 2 or more robots, these applications have motivated the development of new control strategies to coordinate multiple robots automatically. On the other hand, energy optimization in robotic systems is increasingly important to ensure autonomy and take care of resources. This article introduces an application for cooperative control of 3 mobile robots in open loop, the goal is to coordinate the position and parameters of the triangular shape created from the distances between robots. The control algorithm is designed using the Pontryagin principle, starting from the training model and solving differential equations with numerical methods. Mobile robots are built using 3D printing technology and free hardware with wireless Bluetooth communication to receive orders from the remote station. The application is implemented on a computer by inserting the developed algorithm and generating the control orders, this program is developed in Matlab through a main menu for user management. The results present the simulation and experimentation of the system, highlighting the positions and velocities generated by cooperative control with energy optimization, as well as the images of the movements made by the robots according to the orders sent. Finally, a usability score for the app that demonstrates high acceptance is obtained.

This paper discusses the use of optimal control for improving the performance of industrial processes. Industry 4.0 technologies play a crucial role in this approach by providing real-time data from physical devices. Additionally, simulations and virtual sensors allow for proactive control of the process by predicting potential issues and taking measures to prevent them. The paper proposes a new methodology for proactive control based on machine learning techniques that combines physical and virtual sensor data obtained from a simulation model. A deep temporal clustering algorithm is used to identify the process stage, and a control scheme directly dependent on this stage is used to determine the appropriate control actions to be taken. The control scheme is created by an expert human, based on the best industrial practices, making the whole process fully interpretable. The performance of the developed solution is demonstrated using a case study of gas production from an underground reservoir. The results show that the proposed algorithm can provide proactive control, reducing downtime, increasing process reliability, and improving performance. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The author examines the social, economic and political consequences to human rights in terms of modern ICT technologies and biotechnology advances (CRISPR-Cas9) as well as newly developed medical-based rehabilitation techniques. In addition to the benefits of newer technologies, the author offers a recognition and understanding of the hidden risks and their possible long-term consequences when it comes to human rights. The author, who has been a member of the UN CRPD, the human rights committee on the rights of the persons with disabilities for 8 years, puts whether human rights or science and scientific innovation takes precedence. Both artificial intelligence and biotechnology together with invasive solutions (implants) face a number of ethical issues that still remain unanswered. The author also presents the socio-political and legal aspects that arise in connection with the latest developments (see Elon Musk's brain implant project). Moreover, the author also introduces a new term, homo sapiens conrectus, pointing out that we can speak not only of a correction in relation to modern rehabilitation, but also directly of an upgrade, leading to unpredictable social consequences. This process will also lead us to 'post-Renaissance polymaths', which will revolutionize the world of work and education.

Pitch matching is one of the most basic musical skills, but is hard to stick to because of its monotony. To solve this problem, Orpheus, a serious game based on Greek mythology for training pitch matching is proposed. The player needs to act as Orpheus, the main character of the story who is known as "the father of songs", to use his great power of music to experience the famous love story with Eurydice. The player needs to control Orpheus by singing specific pitches to change his position and action so that Orpheus can complete the tasks and drive the plots. A game prototype was developed with Unity, and a pilot case study was conducted to measure the game experience and assess the game effectiveness. Results showed that players considered Orpheus as challenging but engaging, and they thought Orpheus was better in training pitch matching than the traditional method. In conclusion, Orpheus provides a new training method for pitch matching that is both engaging and effective.
