In this paper, we propose a novel segmentation-guided network for thyroid nodule identification from ultrasound images. Accurate diagnosis of thyroid nodules through ultrasound images is significant for cancer detection at the early stage. Many computer-Aided Diagnose (CAD) systems for this task ignore the inherent correlation between nodule segmentation task and classification task (i.e. cancer grading). Actually, segmentation results could be used as localization cues of thyroid nodules for facilitating their classifications as benign or malignant. Accordingly, we propose a two-stage thyroid nodule diagnosis method through 1) nodule segmentation and 2) segmentation-guided diagnosis. Specifically, in the segmentation stage, we use an ensemble strategy to integrate segmentations from diverse segmentation networks. Then, in the classification stage, the obtained segmentation result is integrated as additional information along with its corresponding original ultrasound images as the input of the classification network. Meanwhile, the segmentation result is further served as guidance to refine the attention map of the features used for classification. Our method is applied to the TN-SCUI 2020, a MICCAI 2020 Challenge, with the largest set of thyroid nodule ultrasound images according to our knowledge. Recent studies show that emotional changes can influence driving behavior. For example, positive valence could enable better takeover performance in regaining vehicle control. On the other hand, a state of anger has been shown to degrade driver situational awareness and performance compared to a neutral state. These emotional states may result from different factors like a vehicle’s internal or external environment. The roadside environment is one of the external factors which might influence driver behavior and performance. Hence, it is necessary to understand how emotional conditions affect driving actions to design safer road environments. However, research involving the use of emotions can be challenging due to methodological issues associated with measuring emotions. Different methods can be used to measure emotion both subjectively and objectively. These could include the use of reliable sources for assessing evoked emotions, since subjective emotional experiences are the essence of a feeling. An objective manifestation of emotion can be captured as a representation of our inner experience. Also, the objective manifestation of emotion is the representation of our inner experience. In this study, we conducted an eye-integrated human-in- the- loop (HTIL) simulation experiment to analyze the driver’s emotional state by comparing both subjective and objective data to find the relation between drivers’ physiologic feelings (i.e., Kansei Engineering method) and biosensor data (i.e., facial expression and eye movement). © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The article discusses methodological issues of creating network virtual enterprises and their management. Here, the network enterprise agent is represented as one of the network nodes that implements directed interactions with other nodes in order to produce and sell marketable products. A multiagent system (MAS) is a virtual enterprise (VE) that is created from various network enterprises on a contract basis. To create an effective VE, we must have a mathematical description of its structure and functions. In this paper, a three-level hierarchical system of diagnostics and performance management for network virtual enterprises is proposed. The functions of the proposed system are described at a formalized level. VE is presented in the form of a set of operators designed to diagnose crisis conditions and manage the effectiveness of its functioning. The main condition for the normal functioning of the VE is the absence of crisis states. Crisis states are manifested in a decrease in output and sales of products, and a deterioration in the financial condition of the VE. A method for diagnosing agents crisis states based on the evidence theory is proposed. It allows you to take into account both stochastic and content uncertainty. A numerical example of using this technique to identify a crisis situation in a certain VE is given. Based on the results obtained, control actions were proposed to remove the entire VE from the pre-crisis state by reengineering it. © 2021 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.

In the context of data access and export control from enterprise information systems, one of the issue is the generation of the rules. Currently, this time consuming and difficult task is highly based on experience. Expert security analysts merge their experience of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with the random exploration of the logs generated by the system to try to envision the most relevant attack paths. This project allowed to explore different approaches for creating support for human experts in security rule identification and validation, while preserving interpretability of the results and inspectability of the approach used. This resulted in a tool that complements the security engine by supporting experts in defining uncommon patterns as security-related events to be monitored and vetted by the event classification engine. The result is a promising instrument allowing the human inspection of candidate security-related relevant events/patterns. Main focus being the definition of security rules to be enforced by the specific security engine at run-time. An initial evaluation round shows a positive trend into the users’ perception, even tough a miss of contextual information still hinders its usage by more business-oriented profiles. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The report examines the importance and transformation of the concept of resource-saving in the digital economy, based on the reasons proposed by the authors for the emergence and characteristics of the information society, whose economy is what is now called the digital economy. According to the authors, a rather constructive definition of the information society is proposed, its main features, including, are briefly considered. determining the meaning of the concept of "digital economy," the reasons for the transition from industrial society to information society. The main risks that may appear during the transition to the information society are described. The new content of the concept of "resource-saving" is considered from the point of view of the implementation of resource-saving as one of the main features of the information society in terms of production, production facilities (products) and resource-saving infrastructure. It was emphasized that the target installations of industrial society production in the form of mass content, pre-planned restrictions on the life cycle of manufactured products are in contradiction with the technological capabilities of the information society. In this regard, it is shown how resource-saving should strategically develop in terms of production, production facilities (products) and resource-saving infrastructure. © 2021 CEUR-WS. Sleep disorders are a public safety concern that can influence the individual’s quality of life by reducing cognitive functions, decreasing alertness, causing mood disturbances and exhaustion, and affecting memory. The evaluation of daytime sleepiness, the risk of developing sleep apnea, sleep quality, and the respective circadian rhythm are important aspects to consider. This research aimed to evaluate sleep disorders, in the Portuguese population, districts, since it is still a gap in the literature. 2087 complete answers were collected, with most of the participants being female, and their ages ranging from 18 to 78 years old. In terms of sleep disorders, 21.37% of the participants have a high risk of developing obstructive sleep apnea, 39.29% have excessive daytime sleepiness, and 61.38% have bad sleep quality. For the circadian rhythm, 57.74% of them are morning type, 36.85% are evening type, and the remaining 5.41% are intermediate type. In this research, it was proved that few elements of the Portuguese population are aware of their sleep quality, and most of the people with excessive daytime sleepiness have bad sleep quality. In addition, it was also demonstrated that the work schedule is adjusted to the circadian rhythm, and the risk of sleep apnea in participants with excessive daytime sleepiness is about 1.8 times higher than in the ones with normal daytime sleepiness. This study is innovative since it integrates four questionnaires on sleep disorders, considers a representative sample from the Portuguese population, and has the largest number of participants when compared with the studies available. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, we analyze a queueing system with two main unreliable servers and backup reliable server. The input flow is defined by the BMAP (Batch Markovian Arrival Process). Heterogeneous breakdowns arrive to the main servers according to a MMAP (Marked Markovian Arrival Process). Service times and repair times have PH (Phase type) distribution. The queueing system under consideration is an adequate model of operation of hybrid communication systems which combine the use of Free Space Optics and radio technologies. We derive a condition for the stable operation of the system, compute its stationary distribution and the key performance measures. Illustrative numerical examples give some insight into the behavior of the system. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
