Crowd sensing is a way to obtain multiple sensing data onto users or mobile devices and is widely used in industrial Internet, smart city, smart medical, etc. However, when users upload sensing data involving sensitive information such as a user identity and location, there will be risks of data privacy leakage and user tracking. For the problem of this scenario, we propose a blockchain-based pseudonym generation mechanism, which uses pseudonyms to realize user anonymity and user identity authentication. The average speed of pseudonym generation and authentication in the simulation experiment is about 0.1s, the experimental results verify the availability and effectiveness of the distributed pseudonym mechanism. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper considers metrological characteristics of distributed mobile measuring systems used for characteristics control of objects distributed in space. Mobile measuring systems travel along the prescribed routes and make physical values measurements in prescribed points and at prescribed time. In the course of time both metrological characteristics of measuring means and the values of controlled parameters change. The methods of determination of measuring means metrological characteristic magnitudes variations and controlled physical value magnitudes variations are considered, the deviations of measurement results value relatively reference value are analyzed. In order to raise the accuracy and truthfulness of measurements the algorithms of their analysis are considered. © 2020 IEEE.

Social media networks as well as online graph analytics operate on large-scale graphs with millions of vertices, even billions in some cases. Low-latency access is essential, but caching suffers from the mostly irregular access patterns of the aforementioned application domains. Hence, distributed in-memory systems are proposed keeping all data always in memory. These in-memory systems are typically not optimized for the sheer amounts of small data objects, which demands new concepts regarding the local and global data management as well as for the fault-tolerance mechanisms to mask server failures and power outages. In this paper, we propose a novel backup distribution and parallel recovery approach aiming at fast recovery of servers storing hundreds of millions of small objects. All proposed concepts have been implemented within the open source distributed system DXRAM and have been evaluated in the Microsoft Azure cloud with up to 72 high performance virtual machines in two scale-sets. For evaluation, we used two benchmarks: the Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark and a recovery benchmark. The experiments show that the proposed recovery strategy is able to recover servers with 500,000,000 small data objects in less than 2 seconds and, also, to efficiently mask server failures under heavy load. Furthermore, DXRAM outperforms the state-of-the-art system RAMCloud in additional recovery experiments with large objects (2.4x faster) and even more with small objects (> 9x).

Virtual machine (VM) live migration provides spatial flexibility by rearranging VM placement (i.e., VM shuffle) in several scenarios, including server consolidation, power consumption saving, fault tolerance, QoS management and network congestion resolving. However, VM live migration would consume scarce bandwidth and even cause network congestion. Since the bandwidth used by VM migration is usually the same as the services running in the VM, migration traffic would dominate network path and affect other application traffic as the traffic of a VM migration is usually several GBs. It gets worse in VM shuffle where plenty of VMs are needed to be moved. In this paper, we explore the opportunity to manage online VM shuffle and minimize the impact to data center networks. An efficient online VM shuffle scheduling method named SmartShuffle is presented. SmartShuffle tries to minimize the VM shuffle duration by coordinating VM migration in a proper scheduling order. VMs benefiting others maximally are migrated preferentially. We employ the simulated annealing algorithm to search for a solution for SmartShuffle. Our evaluation shows that SmartShuffle decreases the shuffle duration dramatically.

This position paper outlines the need and rational for developing large-scale emulation facilities structured to allow the scientific method tenets to be met on a per experiment basis. The work specifically focuses on the need to develop emulation-based test beds on the 1000+ machine scale, as expressed within the US. Defense Advanced Research Program Agency's (DARPA) BAA-08-43 Broad Agency Announcement of May 2008 for a National Cyber Range, the University of Victoria's Fall 2008 application to the Canadian Foundation for Innovation for a Canadian at-scale Emulation Laboratory (CASElab), and the recent HP-Intel-Yahoo global cloud computing test bed initiative. The work places these proposed large-scale facilities both within the general context of the standard research tools (i.e., analytical analysis, simulation studies, ad hoc testing, and smaller-scale emulation), as their placement against other available test beds, most notably Emulab, DETERlab, and PlanetLab.

Interprocess communication mechanisms, one of the effective factors for response time in High performance computing. Existing standards for interprocess communication between a heterogeneous operating systems such as MPI implementation at library level lead to lower performance and Increase response time compared to implementation at the operating system kernel level. We propose an approach to enable the use of IPC in heterogeneous distributed systems such as grid computing. This mechanism uses distributed shared memory for communication between Linux and Windows operating systems. Windows IPC mechanism uses shared memory and remote procedural call. Linux Inter-zprocess communication (IPC) converting Windows remote procedure call (RPC) to Proportional System V shared memory in kernel level. We propose wrapper for the use of our mechanism with distributed application.

In this paper two cascade control system (CCS) structures designed in order to control the position of the magnetic sphere of a Magnetic levitation laboratory equipment are presented. The proposed CCS structures consist of a TP-based controller (TP-C) in the inner control loop and a Proportional Integral Fuzzy Controller (PI-FC) with integration of controller output (Fuzzy-OI-TP-CS) and a PI-FC with integration of controller input (Fuzzy-II-TP-CS) in the outer control loop, respectively. The parallel distributed compensation technique (PDC), the modal equivalence principle and the modulus optimum method are used in the design of the suggested CCS structures. The experimental results validate the proposed control solutions. Finally, a comparative analysis is also included.

Object Enhanced Time Petri Nets (OETPN) can be used for specifications analysis, design (including synthesis), implementation, integration and maintenance of software applications in the domain of reactive systems, cyber-physical systems, embedded systems, real-time systems, internet of things etc. due to their ability to describe complex structures, concurrent behavior, reaction to the environment events, distributed processing, and task migration. OETPNs are extended from classical Petri Nets (PNs) by having tokens modeling passive and active objects (threads of executions). The system behavior is determined by a number of guards and mappings associated with each transition. In order to verify systems that are developed with OETPNs, Time Petri Nets (TPNs) are used with the clock-stamped state class (CS-class) technique. A new method for converting OETPNs to TPNs is proposed so that the reachability graph can be generated and computed the end-to-end time for each thread aside. A complete system analysis, implementation, and verification is provided for a synchronous and asynchronous approach for the real-time point of view.

The EC H2020 mF2C Project aims at developing a software framework that enables the orchestration of resources and communication at Fog level, as an extension of Cloud computing and interacting with the IoT. In order to show the project functionalities and added-values three real world Use Cases have been chosen. This paper introduces the mF2C Use case 3: Smart Fog Hub Service (SFHS), in the context of an airport, with the objective of proving that great potential value and different business opportunities can be created in physical environments with a great concentration of smart objects, to showcase the wide range of scenarios on which mF2C can impact, validate the project in industrial events and determine a massive interest of relevant stakeholders.

Peer-to-Peer and Web Services are two concepts for distributed computing which have gained much attention within the academic community. The former one offers a paradigm where resources are shared among participants of a network and the need for central components is minimized. The latter one was developed with the intention to provide interoperability within heterogeneous environments. This paper presents the results of a project bringing these two concepts together by means of a filesharing system. In this context differentWeb Service standards are analyzed with respect to their usability for Peer-to-Peer computing.
