The parallelization of the bidimensional FFT-2D is considered over an heterogeneous system using master-slaves approaches. General analytical models for the parallel programming paradigm on heterogeneous networks have been considered to tune the parallel algorithms. To obtain the optimal set of processors for a parallel execution appears in a natural way in the proposed methodology. Our proposals have been validated in an heterogeneous platform that comprises three different types of processors and an heterogeneous network.

Some datasets and computing environments are inherently distributed. For example, image data may be gathered and stored at different locations. Although data parallelism is a well-known computational model, there are few programming systems that are both easy to program (for simple applications) and can work across administrative domains. We have designed and implemented a simple programming system, called Trellis-SDP, that facilitates the rapid development of data-intensive applications. Trellis-SDP is layered on top of the Trellis infrastructure, a software system for creating overlay metacomputers: user-level aggregations of computer systems. Trellis-SDP provides a master-worker programming framework where the worker components can run self-contained, new or existing binary applications. We describe two interface functions, namely trellis_scano() and trellis_gather(), and show how easy it is to get reasonable performance with simple data-parallel applications, such as Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) and Parallel Sorting by Regular Sampling (PSRS).

The management of distributed service systems is a complex task as changes in the system and the environment may induce reconfiguration tasks to be handled. In this paper, we deal with the automated reconfiguration of service-oriented, embedded systems. Depending on the environment such a system encounters, some of the services may need to be reconfigured depending on certain conditions like temperature or battery state. In our approach, the task of automatic adaptation to a changing environment is divided into two parts: At design time, various configurations are generated for a service and are mapped to specific environmental conditions. For this we adopt the approach of model-based management and GRBAC to ease the creation of complex management policies. At runtime, a reconfiguration service gets aware of changes in the environment, selects the appropriate configurations for the services it is responsible for, and enforces the new configurations.

On inter-connected computer network environments, multimedia communication systems are usefully for the users to communicate with each other. The systems must guarantee end-to-end QoS. (quality of service) according to requirements from the system users and available resources. If the system can dynamically use translator or mixer functions defined by RTP, more flexible peer-to-peer communication is realized. In this paper, we design a new middleware system with transcoding functions for flexible intercommunication environment by relocatable decision.

The growth of the Internet connected devices population has fuelled the emergence of new distributed computer paradigms;one of these paradigms is the so-called Fog-to-Cloud (F2C) computing, where resources (compute, storage, data) are distributed in a hierarchical fashion between the edge and the core of the network. This new paradigm has brought new research challenges, such as the need for a novel framework intended to controlling and, more in general, facilitating the interaction among the heterogeneous devices conforming the environment at the edge of the network and the available resources at cloud. A key feature that this framework should meet is the capability of uniquely and unequivocally identify the connected devices. In this paper a hash-based naming strategy suitable to be used in the F2C environment is presented. The proposed naming method is based on three main components: certification, hashing and identification. This research is an ongoing work, thus, the steps to follow since a device connects to the F2C network until it receives a name are described and the major challenges that must be solved are analyzed.

Parallel computing and distributedcomputing are the popular terminologies of scheduling. With advancement in technology, systems have become much more compact and fast and need of parallelization plays a major role for this compaction. Wireless computing is also a common concept associated with each new development. Scheduling of tasks has always been a challenging area and is an NP-complete problem. Moreover, when it comes to wireless distributedcomputing, reliable scheduling plays an important role in order to complete a task in a wireless distributed system. This work proposes an algorithm to dynamically schedule tasks on heterogeneous processors within a wireless distributedcomputing system. A lot of heuristics, meta-heuristics & genetics have been used earlier with scheduling strategies. However, most of them haven't taken reliability into account before scheduling. Here a heuristic that deals with reliable scheduling is considered. The scheduler also works within an environment which has dynamically changing resources and adapts itself to changing system resources. The testing was carried out with up to 200 tasks being scheduled while testing in a real time wireless distributed environment. Experiments have shown that the algorithm outperforms the other strategies and can achieve a better reliability along with no increase in make-span, in spite of wireless nodes.

Recent developments in pervasive computing have enabled new features for collaboration and instrumentation in educational technology systems. An infrastructure for the integration of components which support interactive pervasive education aids the development of these features. The e-Fuzion system contains the necessary components and management facilities to dynamically compose an adaptive learning system. e-Fuzion provides a set of distributed objects which allow for sharing of multimedia, recording of learning activity, and availability of real-time feedback information for instructors. Using the Gaia infrastructure, the system supports context-aware components and storage. e-Fuzion provides the extensibility necessary for the development of features to be integrated into educational technology systems.
