This paper proposes approaches to minimize the touch current of mobile devices. By modeling an equivalent circuit of a touch current, the cause of the touch current occurring in the mobile devices is analyzed. Through the analysis results, the circuit that minimizes the touch current is proposed. Furthermore, the validity of the proposed circuits is verified through simulation and experimental results.

To enable the low-cost design of 5G IoT Standard reduced capability (NR-REDCAP) devices, hardware-software trade-offs must be made for various signal processing baseband kernels. Dedicated hardware for a kernel provides better speed and power efficiency but limits the device’s programmability. With the varying range of user equipment (UE) deployment scenarios and dynamic wireless channel conditions, flexible solutions like DSPs are favorable for implementing channel estimation, channel equalization, and waveform modulation/demodulation algorithms. Due to stringent requirements on latency for algorithms like decimation, synchronization, and decoding, designers might favor dedicated hardware over DSP-based solutions. Such dedicated hardware increases the device cost as it needs to be added to the modem design solely to implement synchronization. In this work, we study the most critical operation mode of synchronization for the NR-REDCAP standard, i.e., during the Handover between cells. Whereas for the enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) 5G NR standard, dedicated hardware might be the best implementation choice for decimation and synchronization;in contrast, for NR-REDCAP, a cost saving can be achieved by implementing and optimizing the kernels onto the vector DSP. After algorithmic and structural optimizations, our results show that the synchronization procedure can be accommodated on a vector DSP with a clock frequency of 500 MHz. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This paper proposes a mobile molecular communication system in which directional information is encoded on pulse frequency. In the proposed system, a sender bio-nanomachine generates pulses of signal molecules periodically, the pulses of signal molecules propagate in the environment, and the receiver bio-nanomachine learns the direction to the sender bio-nanomachine from the frequency of pulses that it observes. This paper presents its model and conducts computer simulations. Results show that receiver bio-nanomachines using frequency-based directional sensing are capable of moving closer to the sender bio-nanomachine successfully. Results also show that the performance of the frequency-based directional sensing scheme depends on the noise strength and that, as the noise strength increases, the mean time to reach the sender and its variance increase. The paper proposes a new frequency-based modulation scheme for mobile molecular communication and contributes to the field of molecular communication.

5G networks will comprise multiple, versatile infrastructures at finest granularity consisting of multiple disaggregated pools of network, compute and storage resources. To support the 5G network architectures and satisfy the access network demanding performance requirements, transport networks consisting of various converging technologies shall provide mechanisms to support deployment flexibility and scalability. The deployment of the complementary or alternative transport network technologies in real network deployments shall take into account various factors such as area specifics, technologies' deployment feasibility, traffic/usage forecasts considering long-term services roadmaps and certainly, the implicated costs. Thus, transport network planning and dimensioning shall be tightly accompanied by the techno-economic analysis of the various deployment alternatives. This paper provides insights on the techno-economic aspects of 5G transport network technologies and its applicability on the architectural concepts of 5G-XHaul and 5G-PICTURE 5G-PPP projects.

The fifth generation of mobile networks is rapidly evolving and novel architectures and communication paradigms are constantly proposed. Heterogeneous wireless networks and particularly dense small cells are a key enabler for increased throughput and high-quality communications, although such densely distributed access networks suffer the effect of inter-cell interference. The coordinated multi-point operation is already considered as a promising technique for mitigating this problem by allowing the coordination of multiple transmission points that serve the user. In this study, the coordinated multi-point is applied in a simulated wireless network in order to measure its performance under varying conditions, including a varying number of static or roaming users, variable required SINR levels and transmission power required to satisfy the requirements. The simulation results indicate that the scheme can achieve significantly low transmission power levels, while serving wireless users at the edge of the cells with SINR of 20dB, suggesting this technique for future network implementations.

Various simulation based approaches are developed to study wireless network performance and capacity traditionally. However, these simulation based approaches has its own limitations in supervised and unsupervised learning. Since big data techniques become more available, using big data techniques to understood the huge amount of the LTE network measurements and diagnosis data, evaluate and predict the LTE network capacity and performance becomes a very promising approach. This paper investigates the LTE network performance from the aspect of data analytics and statistical modeling. In this paper, we develop a methodology of data analytics and modeling to evaluate LTE network performance based on traffic measurements and service growth trends. A relational algorithm is developed to obtain the relationship between LTE network resources and LTE KPIs and a forecasting algorithm is developed to trend the network resource consumptions based on traffic and service growth. The numerical results show a high accuracy, robustness, and reliability of the proposed methodology.

This paper presents how a novel magnetic resonant coupling motor constructed without any iron core or permanent magnet can be simulated and link to its physical phenomenon. Unrelated to general operational principle of existing conventional electric motors, the application of resonant wireless power transfer system using magnetic resonance coupling technology is the key feature of the motor presented. The paper presents how the design concept of the motor could be simulated from an established modeled topology in an advanced finite element analysis tool. Even though simple in design, the motor presents challenges in analytical modeling and analysis which makes the simulation process and methods used key issues to consider.
