With the increasing number of end users that are using multimedia services, demand for access network high bitrate systems with sufficient quality of services also increases. However, this might not always be ensured by the telecom operators, as they must perform network optimization concerning Quality of Service (QoS) and multimedia data transmission. In this work, we focused on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) performance testing with the help of various tools (iPerf, RFC 6349 or ITU-T Y.1564). The Grafana software tool is used to monitor data streams. Measurements were made to limit the downstream bitrate of up to 20 end users at 100 Mbit/s. Based on the repeated measurements, an aggregation curve is modelled indicating the available bitrate with respect to the network load. © 2025 SPIE.

Knowledge Graphs are an extraordinary source of data due to their vastness, the topics heterogeneity and the presence of sources curated by companies, research groups, volunteers, and dedicated communities. Identifying high-quality Knowledge Graphs requires supporting developers and end-users in comparing and assessing data quality of publicly available Knowledge Graphs. However, no fully working and maintained Knowledge Graph quality assessment tool was found during the review of related research. This article fully describes KGHeartBeat, a community shared open-source knowledge graph quality assessment tool designed to periodically perform quality analysis on a wide range of freely available knowledge graphs registered on the LOD Cloud and dataHub. Users can either visually explore the quality assessment report and compare knowledge graphs via a freely available web-based interface or download data analysis results for further analysis. Moreover, KGHeartBeat is also released as APIs so developers can easily integrate them into any quality management tool. As a proof of concept, we discuss different use cases to show KGHeartBeat in practice, demonstrating how it can be used to compare multiple Knowledge Graphs, assess quality dimensions over time, and report performance analysis in terms of execution time. This study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cybersecurity and data breaches, with a specific focus on the shift toward remote work. The study identifies trends and offers insights into cybersecurity incidents by analyzing data breaches two years before and two years after the start of remote work. data was collected from the Montana Department of Justice data Breach database and consisted of data breaches that occurred between April 2018 and April 2022. The findings inform best practices for cybersecurity preparedness in remote work environments, aiding organizations to enhance their defenses. Although the study’s data is limited to Montana, it offers valuable insights for cybersecurity professionals worldwide. As remote work continues to evolve, organizations must remain adaptable and vigilant in their cybersecurity strategies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Security of applications and data in a cloud setting has become a first-class design criterion. Hardware vendors have proposed trusted execution environments or TEEs where the hardware guarantees an application's data and code security both at rest and in-use, even from privileged entities such as operating systems and hypervisors. software Guard eXtension, or SGX, is a popular, trusted execution environment or TEE solution from Intel. To ensure security guarantees, SGX provides secure sand-box environments called enclaves, which have encrypted physical memory. In the latest version of SGX, we start an enclave with a the specified amount of “static” memory specified by a developer. Subsequently, we add additional memory pages “dynamically” to an enclave depending on an application's memory usage. In this paper, we analyze the impact of the allocation and freeing of static and dynamic pages on an application's performance. We observe that inappropriately setting the static memory size may lead to a performance slowdown of up to 20x. We present Harmony - a profile-guided optimizer that measures the impact of dynamic memory management on an application's performance, and suggests a near-optimal distribution for static and dynamic memory pages. We show that Harmony improves the execution latency of an application by up to 68% and 29% when compared with the purely dynamic and purely static allocation schemes, respectively.

In today’s world of advanced AI technologies, data management is a critical component of any AI/ML solution. Effective data management is vital for the creation and maintenance of high-quality, diverse datasets, which significantly enhance predictive capabilities and lead to smarter business solutions. In this work, we introduce MetaPix, a data-centric AI platform offering comprehensive data management solutions specifically designed for unstructured data. MetaPix offers robust tools for data ingestion, processing, storage, versioning, governance, and discovery. The platform operates on four key concepts: dataSources, datasets, Extensions and Extractors. A dataSource serves as MetaPix top level asset, representing a narrow-scoped source of data for a specific use. datasets are MetaPix second level object, structured collections of data. Extractors are internal tools integrated into MetaPix’s backend processing, facilitate data processing and enhancement. Additionally, MetaPix supports extensions, enabling integration with external third-party tools to enhance platform functionality. This paper delves into each MetaPix concept in detail, illustrating how they collectively contribute to the platform’s objectives.
