High contention frequently explodes in E-commerce scenario when promotions are held. However, modern multi-core main-memory databases cannot achieve ideal performance under high contention. Transactions contending for the same resources must be executed serially in traditional architecture to guarantee correctness, which severely chokes database management systems. In this paper, we propose to optimize the transaction processing scheme for highly contended E-commerce workloads. First, we analyze the characteristics of these workloads in detail. Second, we design to filter ineffective operations at IO layer instead of sending them to executing layer, considering the limited number of items involved in the promotion. third, we make out a homogeneous operation merging scheme to share database execution resources, e.g., locks, and improve parallelization. We implement a prototype, Filmer, to demonstrate our idea. Filmer launches filtering and merging for contended transactions to make full use of system resources and improve parallelization. Extensive experiments show that filtering and merging improve the throughput by up to 1.95x and 2.55x respectively. © 2022 IEEE.

As the IPv6 protocol has been rapidly developed and applied, the security of IPv6 networks has become the focus of academic and industrial attention. Despite the fact that the IPv6 protocol is designed with security in mind, due to insufficient defense measures of current firewalls and intrusion detection systems for IPv6 networks, the construction of covert channels using fields not defined or reserved in IPv6 protocols may compromise the information systems. By discussing the possibility of constructing storage covert channels within IPv6 protocol fields, 10 types of IPv6 covert channels are constructed with undefined and reserved fields, including the flow label field, the traffic class field of IPv6 header, the reserved fields of IPv6 extension headers and the code field of ICMPv6 header. An IPv6 covert channel detection method based on field matching (CC-Guard) is proposed, and a typical IPv6 network environment is built for testing. In comparison with existing detection tools, the experimental results show that the CC-Guard not only can detect more covert channels consisting of IPv6 extension headers and ICMPv6 headers, but also achieves real-time detection with a lower detection overhead. © 2022 IEEE.

As the network-structure complexity and the passenger volume continuously grow, how to accurately perform passenger flow guidance is a crucial issue for metro operators. Transfer route recommendation is a core approach for passenger flow guidance. Existing works are limited in obtaining route attributes (such as transfer walking time and waiting time, etc.). Furthermore, most of existing methods may not work well in the scenario of sudden passenger flow, because of their limited capability to accurately measure the real-time crowding. To address these issues, a data fusion based transfer route recommendation method (DFTRR) is proposed. Specifically, we first propose a spatio-temporal diversity-based method (STD) to measure the trajectory similarity. Based on that, we fuse two kinds of heterogeneous data, i.e., swiping records of smart cards and Wi-Fi signal records of mobile devices to extract a passenger's complete trip. And then we present the historical median travel time to alleviate the computation issue of route attributes. Meanwhile the mean crowding level is introduced to accurately measure the real-time crowding of routes. Finally, a generalized travel cost based on median travel time, number of transfers and mean crowding level is constructed for transfer route recommendation. the experimental results illustrate that the accuracy of STD algorithm is higher than the baseline 34.92% at maximum;DFTRR can offer the optimal transfer route according to passengers' preferences under sudden passenger flow. © 2022 IEEE.

the paper proposes a novel approach to multicriteria optimization of strip modal filters (MF) that uses a modified algorithm of evolutionary strategies (ES) and a random search (RS) method. the results of such optimization are compared with the results of the genetic algorithm (GA). As an MF, we considered two structures: a structure based on a 3-conductor microstrip line and a 2-conductor MF with broad-side coupling. the MFs were optimized according to the amplitude criterion and the matching criterion. For all algorithms, we obtained the optimal values of the multicriteria objective function for both MFs. the best convergence of the optimized parameters and the objective function was for ES and GA. the results of RS optimization are close to those of GA and ES. Based on the results of this study, we identified the most preferred algorithms for optimizing these MFs and provide recommendations regarding the application of evolutionary algorithms and the RS method for optimizing structures with modal phenomena. © 2023 IEEE.

Data anonymization is a fundamental and practical privacy-preserving data publication (PPDP) method, while searching for the optimal anonymization scheme using traditional methods has been proven to be NP-hard. Some recent studies have introduced genetic algorithms (GA) into data anonymization to address this issue, revealing potential solutions. However, the discussions are restricted to a few privacy protection models and evolutionary algorithms (EAs). this paper extends this field by introducing differential evolution (DE) for the first time to optimize data anonymization schemes under the constraints of the t-closeness privacy model. To further enhance the algorithm’s performance, this paper designs a two-layer evolutionary framework (TLEF) that effectively explores optimal solutions by leveraging the unique properties of both GA and DE in a balanced manner. Experimental evaluations conducted on 16 test datasets highlight the advantages of DE in addressing optimal t-closeness anonymization and validate the effectiveness of the TLEF. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the software and hardware complex for UAV flight controlling over a railway without the operator participation and the satellite navigation systems use is presented in the paper. the UAV is controlled offline using a computer vision system consisting of a video camera, a microcomputer and a flight controller. the pilot participates only during takeoff or landing. An algorithm has been developed that runs on a microcomputer and recognizes the rails and their positions on the video image. Next, the microcomputer generates commands to control UAV's pitch, yaw, and roll so as to ensure the flight along the rails. the implementation of the algorithm does not affect the UAV weight and size parameters and power consumption and does not affect its flight range and durations. Another important feature of this work is radio silence mode, which makes the drone immune to radio interference. Experimental testing confirmed the algorithm reliability and the UAV steady flight along the railroad. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we focus on semantic-aware computation offloading for executing the deep neural network (DNN) inference tasks in a mobile edge computing (MEC) system. To cope with the challenges of insufficient wireless resources during task offloading, we propose a compress-then-offload mode, in which each user first compresses its raw large-size task data into a small-size semantic feature and then uploads it to the edge server for remote execution. Specifically, we establish the relationship between the compression ratio and computation ratio for different DNN tasks. To achieve energy-efficient offloading, we formulate an optimization problem to minimize the energy consumption of all users by jointly optimizing the compression ratio, computation allocation, uploading time, and DNN layer selection. We propose a low-complexity iterative algorithm to solve the original non-convex problem. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed semantic-aware computation offloading scheme can substantially reduce users' energy consumption compared to the conventional offloading, especially with scarce wireless resources. © 2024 IEEE.

Property Directed Reachability (PDR) is a widely used technique for formal verification of hardware and software systems. this paper presents an incremental version of PDR (IPDR), which enables the automatic verification of system instances of incremental complexity. the proposed algorithm leverages the concept of incremental SAT solvers to reuse verification results from previously verified system instances, thereby accelerating the verification process. the new algorithm supports both incremental constraining and relaxing;i.e., starting from an over-constrained instance that is gradually relaxed. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, we implemented IPDR and experimentally evaluate it on two different problem domains. First, we consider a circuit pebbling problem, where the number of pebbles is both constrained and relaxed. Second, we explore parallel program instances, progressively increasing the allowed number of interleavings. the experimental results demonstrate significant performance improvements compared to Z3’s PDR implementation SPACER. Experiments also show that the incremental approach succeeds in reusing a substantial amount of clauses between instances, for both the constraining and relaxing algorithm. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
