Node failure is one of the most typical issues in distributed storage systems. the classic fault-tolerance methods can meet the fault tolerance needs of systems deployed in edge storage, 5G IoT, and other high-performance data centers. However, mobile distributed systems contend with inconsistent network signals and relatively low bandwidth in weak network environments. the traditional fault-tolerance schemes have difficulty ensuring distributed storage and data repair simultaneously, posing a considerable challenge to data storage reliability. To address this problem, we proposed a hybrid fault-tolerance scheme based on potential replicas, called HFPR, which trades off storage overhead and performance for weak network mobile distributed storage systems. HFPR first stores data with the erasure code redundancy and then gradually increases data redundancy by reserving potential replicas, enabling the system to disperse network transmission pressure and reduce network transmission. To maximize replica utilization and control the storage overhead of potential replicas, we design a node state prediction mechanism and a file lifecycle management mechanism. Evaluation results show that, compared with the traditional hybrid fault-tolerant scheme with the same storage overhead, HFPR achieves better replica-level repair efficiency in data repair and a reduced probability of degraded reads by approximately 50%. During data distribution, HFPR can minimize data write amplification by up to 1.1× and additional network transfers by up to 77.5%. © 2022 IEEE.

In the current 5G core network, the rigid TCP cannot satisfy the real-time service control requirements. the Quick UDP Internet Communication (QUIC) protocol is believed to be an emerging alternative to TCP in highly dynamic networks. Adopting multi-path protocols is an intuitive solution to improve the transmission rate and reliability. However, conventional schedulers are hard to adapt to complex and dynamic 5G/6G networks. In this article, we put forward a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) based path selection strat-egy, DeepPath, for the underlying multi-path QUIC (MPQUIC) protocol. DeepPath adopts a tailored Deep Q-Learning (DQN) algorithm to learn an optimal decision-making policy. To effectively model the dynamic and heterogeneity of the path, DeepPath takes complete account of the average of RTT, the standard deviation of RTT, the size of the congestion window, and the average queue length in the state setting. the double network is trained jointly to accurately fit the path value in the offline part. In the online part, the multi-path scheduler makes greedy decisions in real-time to get the maximum goodput. DeepPath is deployed on a natural 5G core network and evaluated in extensive experimental environments. the results prove that DeepPath outperforms existing multi-path schedulers in the metrics of delay. © 2022 IEEE.

As RPKI is becoming part of ISPs' daily operations and Route Origin Validation is getting widely deployed, one wonders how long it takes for the effect of RPKI changes to appear in the data plane. Does an operator that adds, fixes, or removes a Route Origin Authorization (ROA) have time to brew coffee or rather enjoy a long meal before the Internet routing infrastructure integrates the new information and the operator can assess the changes and resume work? the chain of ROA publication, from creation at Certification Authorities all the way to the routers and the effect on the data plane involves a large number of players, is not instantaneous, and is often dominated by ad hoc administrative decisions. this is the first comprehensive study to measure the entire ecosystem of ROA manipulation by all five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs), propagation on the management plane to Relying Parties (RPs) and to routers;measure the effect on BGP as seen by global control plane monitors;and finally, measure the effects on data plane latency and reachability. We found that RIRs usually publish new RPKI information within five minutes, except APNIC which averages ten minutes slower. At least one national CA is said to publish daily. We observe significant disparities in ISPs' reaction time to new RPKI information, ranging from a few minutes to one hour. the delay for ROA deletion is significantly longer than for ROA creation as RPs and BGP strive to maintain reachability. Incidentally, we found and reported significant issues in the management plane of two RIRs and a Tier1 network.

With the exponential growth of personal data use for machine learning models, significant privacy challenges arise. Anonymisation and federated learning can protect privacy-sensitive data at the cost of accuracy but there is lack of research on hybrid approaches. this paper uses federated learning and traditional centralised machine learning to evaluate the effectiveness of different anonymization strategies in environments with independent and identically distributed data. It considers the two layers of data collection (layer one) and model training (layer two) on three scenarios: (i) local data collection and local anonymisation for federated model training, (ii) central data collection before anonymisation for centralised model training, and (iii) central aggregation of locally anonymised data for centralised model training. Our assessment shows that the performance of the models generally decreases with increasing anonymity constraints, but the extent of decrease varies across different scenarios. In addition, we propose a dual-layer federated learning framework that applies differential privacy to ensure privacy during both data collection and model training stages. Evaluation on real-world datasets demonstrates that our framework achieves both acceptable data anonymization and model accuracy. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

this paper presents the results of modeling a grating element for input/output of optical radiation into Si3N4/SiO2 waveguide structures in the wavelength range from 1.5 to 1.6 μm. the results of the study of the geometric parameters of a diffraction grating on the optical transmission coefficient, in particular: the grating period, undercutting period, etching depth, filling factor, are presented. For a wavelength of 1.55μm the maximum optical transmission coefficient is observed at: grating period 0.875μm;etching depth 0.181μm;fill factor of 0.595μm;undercutting ±0.015μm. the greatest contribution to the change in the transmission coefficient is made by the change in the grating period and is ±0.0022μm and the etching depth is ±0.00762μm%. Based on the results of simulations, taking into account the operating wavelengths and refractive indices of Si3N4/SiO2 films, the following permissible deviations of diffraction lattice parameters were put forward: grating period ±0.022μm;etching depth ±0.0762μm;filling factor ±20%;undercutting period ±0.14μm. Permissible insertion angles were 10-12 degrees. the reflection loss at the input of light into the waveguide was -17 dB, and at the output from -20 to -35 dB. Transmission loss at -3dB was 0.09μm. © 2023 IEEE.

A software module was developed to calculate the main parameters of the SPICE-model of a bipolar transistor based on its static volt-ampere characteristics. this software module is based on the Gummel-Poon model. To build a SPICE-model of bipolar transistors, its functionality includes graphic representation of static volt-ampere characteristics, as well as calculation and output of basic parameters of the Gummel- Poon model (saturation current, non-ideality coefficient in forward connection, base current amplification factor in forward connection, forward Earlie voltage, base resistance and collector resistance). the advantages of the developed software module are: the ability to obtain the basic parameters to build a SPICE-model of bipolar transistors with a minimum set of input data;convenient data input;graphical display of volt-ampere characteristics of the studied bipolar transistor. the disadvantages include a significant error in the calculation of saturation current, base resistance and collector resistance, but it does not have a significant impact on the characteristics of the SPICE-model. We propose a way to automate measurements of static volt-ampere characteristics of bipolar transistors using a simple device built on field-effect transistors, controlled by a microcontroller. © 2023 IEEE.

Currently, the Internet of things (IoT) technology elements are increasingly being introduced into day-to-day life. this technology is especially applied in forecasting weather conditions not only city- or region-wide, but also in a specific house as part of the 'Smart Home' system. Cost management (gas, heating, water, etc.) requires more and more accurate measuring instruments (meters, sensors). In this case, the choice of the analysis method for the received data and intelligent systems for their processing is fundamental. the aim of the study is to develop a prototype of an intelligent system for analyzing meteorological data using IoT technologies. the present paper described the structural scheme of the weather station and its sensors. the algorithm for acquiring and processing data from the weather station sensors has been developed. As a result of processing, data on air temperature, air humidity, and the sum of active temperatures are sent to the intelligent decision-making system. © 2023 IEEE.

the paper presents a software toolkit that includes components of a fuzzy expert system and a geographic information system. Fuzzy expert system methods were applied to improve the decision-making efficiency when working with incomplete and inconsistent data. Geographic information technologies were used to distribute and visualize spatial data on the map. the interaction of both components will increase the efficiency of scientific projects in solving various tasks in research processes. Access to the knowledge base replenishment and processing is carried out by a subject-matter expert (administrator), while a common user has an access to elements of an intelligent fuzzy search and a visualizer (map). the software tool is a web resource capable of functioning on all modern platforms. Our research is aimed at improving the efficiency of decision-making in challenging circumstances. © 2023 IEEE.

With the rapid development of scientific and technological revolution, the Internet of thing systems have been widely deployed in many vertical domains such as smart cities, smart grids, smart agriculture, smart medical healthcare, etc. In these scenarios, it is an urgent problem to provide a high-effect IoT solution to support high computation ability with strong data security and privacy constraints. In this paper, we propose a novel secure data computing platform based on blockchain crowdsourcing computation. Each data sample is transmitted to its private blockchain for secure data storage. To support a high computation ability, we present a powerful edge network constituted of nearby edge gateways, edge devices, etc. thus, these data on the blockchain can be partitioned and allocated to these edge nodes in a crowdsourcing way. We also deploy different AI tools to meet the requirements of vertical applications. Finally, we evaluate our system performance with a real crowdsourced blockchain computation platform to show our effectiveness in vertical application, e.g., face detection. © 2023 IEEE.
