the paper investigates a microoptoelectromechanical accelerometer that implements optical measuring transducer built on the optical tunneling effect. the article discusses the issues of micromechanical sensing element (MSE) optimization for an MOEM- accelerometer fabricated by silicon on insulator (SOI) technology. the results represent the requirements to the design to achieve a sensitivity of 1 μg m/s2at a calculated eigenvalue of the MSE. the main parameters of the mechanical part of a MOEM-accelerometer affecting its sensitivity are dimensions, mass, resonance frequency and corresponding stiffness of the spring suspension. Following the Brownian noise that characterizes the accelerometer's sensitivity, the relations between the parameters are determined. Two designs of the MSE are considered according to the fabrication process. One design contains only a device layer;the second one implements a SOI-wafer basic layer as a weighting additive. the latter design occupies less area. To prevent MSE deflection stipulated by its larger dimensions and to increase the number of sensors fabricated from a single SOI wafer, MSE with additional mass are more reasonable to use. the MSE mass at an eigenfrequency of 10, 20, 50 and 100 Hz should exceed 0.01.10-6 kg, while at a frequency of 200 Hz, the mass should exceed 0.023.10-6 kg to comply with the requirement of minimal measurable acceleration of 1 μg m/s2. Subsequent increase of the MSE mass at the same eigenfrequency decreases the thermal mechanical noise. © 2023 IEEE.

As the global population grows and water resources become scarce, the only way to effectively conserve and utilise them is by adequately treating and reusing them. In Sewage Treatment Plants, ensuring a safe gaseous environment for the worker’s health is essential. Exposure to toxic gases for a long duration may cause health issues for workers. It is essential to understand these factors and take necessary precautions to prevent further deterioration of their health. In this work, we aim to develop a sensor-based system that measures the intensity levels of toxic gases like Methane, Ammonia, Carbon dioxide, and Hydrogen Sulphide emitted from the plant and spread to its environment and to alert at the right time to safeguard the humans around. We compared these gas levels with data captured in good air to demonstrate the high density of the toxic gases in the plant. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

the model of perishable inventory system with orbit is examined under (s, S) and (s, Q) policies. the stability condition of the system is derived and the joint distribution of the number of customers in orbit and the inventory level is obtained by using matrix-geometric method. Formulas for calculation of the performance measures are developed. the behavior of performance measures under given policies are analyzed and comparative numerical results are presented. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Vehicular networks based on distributed machine learning have gained extensive research attention due to their outstanding performance compared to traditional methods. Specifically, machine learning systems can output vehicle control signals based on inputs from the object detection models. However, it has been demonstrated that machine learning is susceptible to security issues, where adversarial samples may mislead models into producing incorrect outputs. In this paper, we propose a novel adversarial patch attack against transformer-based object detection models. Our attack can make the object of a specific class invisible to object detection models. To enhance the attack performance and transferability of the adversarial patches, we designed the Gradient Self-Ensemble module and Transformer Masking Matrix module. these modules obscure parts of the inputs to each encoder and decoder and aggregate the outputs of all decoders within the model to generate adversarial samples, significantly improving the success rates of black-box attacks. We successfully suppressed the model’s inference capabilities and deceived multiple transformer-based object detection models. Our work highlights the vulnerability of object detection models in vehicular networks to adversarial patch attacks in both digital and physical domains. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Tremor is a common disorder associated with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis. In this paper, an approach for suppressing tremor signals was developed by combining linearization action and Repetitive control with Functional Electrical Stimulation, which is applied to wrist flexors and extensors. the effectiveness was confirmed by experiments performed via MATLAB and LabView. the response results were collected using the MyRIO hardware platform.

the paper considers the problem of machine learning for recognizing events that can occur with a control object operating in its environment. Information about the state of the environment is formed by means of technical vision systems as a result of its targeted online monitoring. Such events, triggered by a set of recorded facts and influencing environmental factors, become a training sample. the sample is used for machine learning with deep neural networks. the neural model obtained during the learning process is used in the object control system to recognize and predict potential events and their consequences. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

this paper discusses the importance of electric vehicles in modern society and the challenges associated with communication systems in such vehicles. To overcome these challenges, the paper proposes a model for supporting communication on electric buses by connecting each sensor device to a control area network (CAN). However, the severe nonlinearity and high complexity of the message frame frequency pose significant obstacles to successfully implementing this research in the CAN protocol. the paper highlights the need for continued research and development in this area to enable the effective use of electric buses in our daily lives. © 2023 IEEE.

We previously proposed a measurement framework for OpenFlow-based networks to promptly locate high-loss links with a small load incurred by the measurement on both the data-plane (e.g., the number of transmissions of probe packets on each link) and the control-plane (e.g., the number of accesses to switches) until locating all high-loss links. One of key components is the multicast measurement route of probe packets traversing all links in both directions. However, the previously proposed Eulerian cycle-based measurement route scheme called the backbone-and-branch tree (BBT) that uses only a single measurement host (MH) may build a too long measurement path in a large network, resulting in a low measurement accuracy and an intolerance to very high-loss, e.g., failure, links located in upstream of a measurement path. therefore, in this paper, we newly propose an enhancement of the BBT with multiple MHs, called BBT-mMH, which can control the measurement path lengths to maintain an acceptable measurement accuracy with a small overhead on both the control-plane and data-plane. the numerical simulation demonstrates potential benefits of our proposal. © 2022 Global IT Research Institute-GiRI.

Conventional multiple systolic arrays architecture excels in dense matrix multiplication. However, it faces challenges such as inefficient computation when dealing with sparse matrices. In this paper, we propose MSA2, an accelerator designed for efficient sparse matrix multiplication based on a multi-core architecture with loosely coupled CPUs and systolic arrays. To address the issue of load imbalance, we introduce a sparsity-aware strategy, intelligently and flexibly allocating workloads to individual cores. Additionally, we propose a sparse matrix representation that is tailored to the systolic array, eliminating the dependency on the skew module, thereby saving area. According to the experimental results, the reduction in load imbalance reaches up to 3.1×. On average, MSA2 achieves an improvement of 17.5× over MACO, 5.5× over MACO with preprocessing, 1.4× over Mentha, and 2.6× over SIGMA, while reducing the runtime of BERT-base/VGG19/ResNet50 by up to 58% compared to Mentha and SIGMA. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In educational settings, automated program repair techniques serve as a feedback mechanism to guide students working on their programming assignments. Recent work has investigated using large language models (LLMs) for program repair. In this area, most of the attention has been focused on using proprietary systems accessible through APIs. However, the limited access and control over these systems remain a block to their adoption and usage in education. the present work studies the repairing capabilities of open large language models. In particular, we focus on a recent family of generative models, which, on top of standard left-to-right program synthesis, can also predict missing spans of code at any position in a program. We experiment with one of these models on four programming datasets and show that we can obtain good repair performance even without additional training.
