Currently, the Internet of things (IoT) technology elements are increasingly being introduced into day-to-day life. this technology is especially applied in forecasting weather conditions not only city- or region-wide, but also in a specific house as part of the “Smart Home” system. Cost management (gas, heating, water, etc.) requires more and more accurate measuring instruments (meters, sensors). In this case, the choice of the analysis method for the received data and intelligent systems for their processing is fundamental. the aim of the study is to develop a prototype of an intelligent system for analyzing meteorological data using IoT technologies. the present paper described the structural scheme of the weather station and its sensors. the algorithm for acquiring and processing data from the weather station sensors has been developed. As a result of processing, data on air temperature, air humidity, and the sum of active temperatures are sent to the intelligent decision-making system.

Many of the reliability methods used in power electronics require extensive experimental data, resulting in long product design cycles. this work focuses on developing a simulation-driven approach to assess the reliability of a discrete silicon carbide MOSFET by monitoring $2^{\mathrm{n}\mathrm{d}}$ level solder degradation under power cycling in the thermal and thermo-mechanical domains. Active power cycling tests are performed to determine the loading condition at which end-of-life is reached due to a 20% increase in thermal resistance. Numerical analysis using finite element simulations is conducted to gain a physical understanding of the failure criterion from a mechanical point of view. the proposed methodology aims to accelerate the quality assurance and product qualification processes of discrete power electronic devices.

IoT paradigm has revolutionized our daily routine life, connecting a plethora of smart devices, sensors, frameworks, intelligent systems and humans, in order to provide innovative solutions to everyday problems. With the advent of emerging technologies, Cyber-Physical systems (CPSs) shown great potential in latest years in various application areas, such as healthcare, urban environments, agriculture, transportation, environment monitoring, home automation e.t.c. As they comprise of parts interacting with the physical environment and others having computing and communication capabilities, they constitute a prominent example of systems-of-systems, while the autonomous operation of their components should be ensured. Autonomous components should be smart enough to adjust in the environment they operate, while learning from their peers. the presentation targets at open issues in CPS engineering to promote their autonomy utilizing AI tools and methods and discusses ongoing projects on smart CPS in three different levels: 1) Smart aggregators to manage sensor and actuators and collaborate within each at the edge with no central control. the principles of developing a self-control management middleware for this purpose along with implementation results will be explored. 2) Service integration in a smart CPS environment ensuring the quality of complex services provided to users. A quality-aware event-based platform for the coordination of micro-services aiming at the development of CPS applications and the notion of event fabrication to manage missing events from sensors will be presented. 3) the integration of humans into smart CPS and their wiliness to become part of them. A multi-view design approach focusing on human concerns towards smart systems and the concept of human critically will be discussed. these efforts are presented in the context of specific case studies from prominent CPS domains, targeting smart building management, smart farm management and remote pati

Following the continuous advancement of CMOS technology, propelled by transistor miniaturization and Moore's Law, the scientific community is currently exploring emerging paradigms to discover novel approaches for developing computational systems. One of the emerging alternatives is Field-Coupled Nanocomputing FCN, which, unlike conventional CMOS, doesn't rely on electric current as the state variable for encoding information. Instead, logic is dictated by the coupling of near fields. this paper presents critical concepts for understanding how information flow control is a crucial aspect in the design of Field-Coupled Nanocomputing circuits. We have reviewed the leading alternatives for FCN implementation, examining how each executes information control and how this ultimately impacts EDA tools.

the expanding use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in vital areas like traffic management, surveillance, and environmental monitoring highlights the need for robust communication and navigation systems. Particularly vulnerable are Global Navigation Satellite systems (GNSS), which face a spectrum of interference and jamming threats that can significantly undermine their performance. While traditional deep learning approaches are adept at mitigating these issues, they often fall short for UAV applications due to significant computational demands and the complexities of managing large, centralized datasets. In response, this paper introduces Federated Reservoir Computing (FedRC) as a potent and efficient solution tailored to enhance interference classification in GNSS systems used by UAVs. Our experimental results demonstrate that FedRC not only achieves faster convergence but also sustains lower loss levels than traditional models, highlighting its exceptional adaptability and operational efficiency.

the reliable guidance of power grid systems due to the massive demand, the expansion and maintenance of electrical power requires more restrictive requirements to improve the continuity and the quality of the power system. Faults that occur in electrical power networks demand high-quality power system protection and control devices, which has appeared as a prime of importance. this work introduces a line-to-ground fault location estimation approach for a 138-mile transmission line length utilizing a proposed hybrid model of particle swarm optimizer and feed-forward neural network, by adapting the shape of a neural network according to results accuracy which leads to dynamic configuration of neural network. the proposed model predicts fault position utilizing data gathered like pre and post-fault situation currents and voltages for both sides of the transmission line being tested. Random forest and classical neural networks trained with cross-validation techniques are imposed to compare results. Results indicate the superiority of the proposed model for both training and testing processes by yielding minimum total mean square error.

this study examines decision-making in software re-engineering within businesses, focusing on the challenges and considerations involved. Financial constraints, time, and staff efforts are critical factors in these decisions. the study identifies difficulties faced by top-level management with legacy systems, existing systems, underused systems, and packaged software due to user resistance and customer dissatisfaction. the primary goal of the study is to assess the importance of software quality factors, especially from the users' perspective, in making re-engineering decisions. It uses the ISO 9126 Model to analyze quality elements in the case study software, aiming to provide guidance for deciding whether to proceed with re-engineering. the study explores functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability as factors influencing re-engineering decisions, based on the ISO 9126 model. To understand user interactions and program performance, the study used unstructured participant observation in the case study software, highlighting the challenges faced by top management due to user resistance. these findings were further confirmed through face-to-face interviews with software users and department employees, offering insights into their perspectives on software quality elements. the results reveal that, despite some flaws, the system has valuable features and capabilities. Most employees express a desire to undergo re-engineering to enhance service quality, align with ISO 9126 standards, and leverage the expertise of competent staff for re-engineering activities.

Compared with traditional Si, SiC devices have become feasible candidates for the next generation of power semiconductors due to their low on-resistance characteristics and excellent high temperature, high frequency and high voltage performance. At present, a large number of silicon carbide diodes have been used in the market, mainly including junction barrier Schottky(JBS) diodes and Merged PiN Schottky(MPS) diodes. they have achieved a good balance between forward conduction, reverse blocking performance and surge and avalanche reliability. In this paper, a 1700V blocking-voltage 4H-SiC MPS is designed and simulated, which uses multiple-zone gradient modulation field limiting ring (MGM-FLR) junction termination structure. the device structure and termination protection parameters are optimized in the paper, under the optimal parameters, Technology computer Aided Design(TCAD) simulation results show that the designed 4H-SiC MPS cell can withstand 2170V blocking-voltage and the forward-voltage drop is 1.5V without considering the termination protection. When considering the MGM-FLR termination structure, the blocking-voltage is up to 1988V, where the efficiency of termination protection can reach to 92%.

One of the indispensable assets of the electrical systems and its most expensive components are power transformers. Condition assessment of power transformers is crucial and must be performed precisely to detect any abnormal conditions and prevent failures. Most transformer condition assessment relies on evaluating the insulating oil quality that achieves the cooling inside the transformer and the electrical insulation role. Hence, insulating oil performance is an important term for the reliable operation of power transformers. Under field aging, there is critical degradation in the chemical properties of the transformer oil, which may cause the occurrence of arcing, thermal, and partial discharge fault types. One of these chemical degradations caused by transformer aging is the generation of dissolved gases. Hence, dissolved gas analysis (DGA) is considered an in-service common and effective technique for detecting oil condition assessment under field aging. In addition, this technique can diagnose fault types. this paper studies the effect of oil aging on dissolved gas generation. For this purpose, it presents an analysis of the generation of dissolved gases for four old transformers of the same oil type (Diala B) and different ratings that exist in the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). this analysis of transformer oils was studied from 2010 to 2021.

the paper investigates a microoptoelectromechanical accelerometer that implements optical measuring transducer built on the optical tunneling effect. the article discusses the issues of micromechanical sensing element (MSE) optimization for an MOEM- accelerometer fabricated by silicon on insulator (SOI) technology. the results represent the requirements to the design to achieve a sensitivity of 1 μg m/s 2 at a calculated eigenvalue of the MSE. the main parameters of the mechanical part of a MOEM-accelerometer affecting its sensitivity are dimensions, mass, resonance frequency and corresponding stiffness of the spring suspension. Following the Brownian noise that characterizes the accelerometer's sensitivity, the relations between the parameters are determined. Two designs of the MSE are considered according to the fabrication process. One design contains only a device layer; the second one implements a SOI-wafer basic layer as a weighting additive. the latter design occupies less area. To prevent MSE deflection stipulated by its larger dimensions and to increase the number of sensors fabricated from a single SOI wafer, MSE with additional mass are more reasonable to use. the MSE mass at an eigenfrequency of 10, 20, 50 and 100 Hz should exceed 0.01.10 −6 kg, while at a frequency of 200 Hz, the mass should exceed 0.023.10 −6 kg to comply with the requirement of minimal measurable acceleration of 1 μg m/s 2 . Subsequent increase of the MSE mass at the same eigenfrequency decreases the thermal mechanical noise.
