Fog computing is a decentralized computing infrastructure in which data, compute, storage and applications are located somewhere between the data source and the cloud. It usually adopts convenient and flexible distributed services, which can realize low-cost and real-time data analysis and intelligent control. Efficient communication and fog/edge collaboration have become popular research issues. In this paper, the offloading problem of dependent tasks in fog/edge collaborative environment is studied. Dependent task is modeled as a directed acyclic graph (DAG), and the scenario that fog nodes are configured with heterogeneous multi-core servers is considered. According to task dependencies and energy consumption requirements, all subtasks executed on different edge devices are prioritized, and the Priority and Dependency-based DAG Tasks Offloading Algorithm (PDAGTO) is proposed. Simulation results have shown that, compared with the existing work, the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the average delay and the total energy consumption of during the procedure of task offloading.

When two or more airplanes find themselves less than a minimum distance apart on their trajectory, it is called a conflict situation. To solve a conflict, air traffic controllers use various types of information and decide on actions pilots have to apply on the fly. With the increase of the air traffic, the controllers' workload increases;making quick and accurate decisions is more and more complex for humans. Our research work aims at reducing the controllers' workload and help them in making the most appropriate decisions. More specifically, our PhD goal is to develop a model that learns the best possible action(s) to solve aircraft conflicts based on past decisions or examples. As the first steps in this work, we present a Conflict Resolution Deep Neural Network (CR-DNN) model as well as the evaluation framework we will follow to evaluate our model and a data set we developed for evaluation.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is widely recognized as one of the greatest threats to public health in the 21st century. Microbial pathogens including bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi are rapidly evolving to become resistant to antimicrobial drugs. Analysis from 2016 reported that at least 700,000 people die every year due to drug-resistant infections;if no action is taken, this number is expected to jump to 10 million human lives per year by 2050 (https://amr-review. org/). Proven methods to help slow the transmission of antimicrobial resistance, such as infection prevention and control practices, and stewardship against misuse and overuse of antimicrobials, are often not effectively implemented due to economic considerations, system inefficiencies, or human behaviour complexities. In response, our team is developing an online and interactive knowledge translation tool intended to accurately represent complex systems and effectively identify intervention opportunities. Using qualitative research methods, we are mapping out the sociotechnical system of the Canadian beef cattle industry from a One Health perspective. We are engaging with system stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness of our information, and consulting potential users to identify the most effective functions and interface characteristics of the tool. We believe that making important system information accessible is crucial to inform opportunities for new products, services and technologies, spark research and business collaborations, prompt consumer awareness and action, and inform policy. Our aim is to create a model that can be emulated to create similar tools in other fields to identify opportunities to help slow the transmission of AMR. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

IPFS is a distributed file system. Each node in the system works in a collaborative manner to implement decentralized file access. Anyone can share files through the system. However, there are some data privacy issues of the system during the sharing of file data. therefore, we need to add the data access mechanism to alleviate data privacy issues in IPFS. In response to this problem, we propose a privacy protection method based on blockchain and improved IPFS. the method utilizes the blockchain to store file information and user permissions, and the improved IPFS can control file data sharing according to the user's permission. At the same time, we have extended the user group and file directory management functions based on smart contracts. through this method, the user can centrally manage the shared users in the system and efficiently organize the file directory while realizing the protection of the private files.

We consider the mathematical model of a closed homogenous redundant hot-standby system. this system consists of an arbitrary number of data links with an exponential distribution function (DF) of uptime and a general independent (GI) distribution function of the repair time of its elements with a single repair unit. We also consider the simulation model for the cases where it’s not always possible to carry out the mathematical model (to obtain explicit analytic expressions). the system with n components works until k components fail. With introduction of additional variable, explicit analytic expressions are obtained for the steady-state probabilities (SSP) of the system and the steady-state probability of failure-free system operation (PFFSO) using the constant variation method to solving the Kolmogorov differential equations systems. the SSP of the system are obtained with general independent distribution function of uptime using a simulation approach. We built dependence plots of the probability of system uptime against the fast relative speed of recovery;also plots of the reliability function relative to the reliability assessment. Five different distributions were selected for numerical and graphical analysis as Exponential (M), Weibull-Gnedenko (WG), Pareto (PAR), Gamma (G) and Lognormal (LN) distributions. the simulation algorithms were performed in the R programming language. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Crowdsourcing relies on Internet-wide capability to solve the complicated or large-scale tasks that are difficult to accomplish separately by individuals. However, traditional centralized crowdsourcing systems highly depend on the centralized coordination server to operate, making it extremely vulnerable to the single-point bottleneck and failure. And the whole system lacks verifiable trustworthiness among the participants. this paper proposes a blockchain-based framework for the distributed crowdsourcing without relying solely on any single trusted entity. the solutions for the outsourced tasks are verified with consensus among the participants with a reputation mechanism. We prove by theoretical security analysis that the proposed scheme resists malicious attacks better comparing to other typical crowdsourcing schemes. A prototype system is implemented based on Ethereum to demonstrate the overhead performance in various aspects. theoretical and experimental evaluations show that the proposed scheme possesses reliability, security, quality, and feasibility.

the article discusses the classic problem of ship course-keeping automatic control system design. the proposed design approach uses a relatively new methodology called Active Disturbance Rejection control (ADRC). A comparative analysis of simulation results obtained via ADRC versus a traditional autopilot based on the PID algorithm was performed. the results obtained indicate a significantly higher efficiency of the ADRC autopilot compared to the PID variant. Another important positive feature of using ADRC control over PID is the elimination of the tuning problem. © 2020 the Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Data-driven crowd evacuation learning methods are often used to enhance the realism of crowd simulation. However, the learning results of traditional methods cannot adapt to the dynamic changes of the simple scene, and thus have the disadvantage of poor generalization. To solve this problem, we propose a data-driven crowd evacuation framework based on hierarchical deep reinforcement learning. the framework consists of: a macro-control layer with path programming function and a micro control layer with collision avoidance function. In this paper, a path programming method combining data-driven and deep reinforcement learning is proposed in the macro-control layer. the method combines the pedestrian motion attributes in the video with the DDPG algorithm to learn the pedestrian track in the video from a macro perspective. In the micro-control layer, the track sequence learned in the macro-control layer is used as the motion target to learn the collision-free motion velocity of individuals using the multiple agent deep reinforcement learning method. When the scene changes, the micro-control layer adaptively adjusts the motion speed without the need for the macro-control layer to repeat the path programming learning. the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed hierarchical crowd evacuation framework can not only simulate the real crowd movement behavior and improve the simulation fidelity, but also flexibly adapt to the dynamic changes of the simple scene and enhance the generalization.

It is a challenge for online active pharmacies and medical clinics to protect themselves from a wide range of security threats, from a technical point of view and also from the risks involved when working with personal information, such as patients' electronic records. In general, the security of digital information ensures the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data. In particular, the security of digital medical information must be ensured through the implementation of appropriate control measures. In addition, networking and connecting to the Internet entails additional risks, of unauthorized access to medical data or even fraud. In order to avoid the loss, partial or total destruction of medical data, safety and protection, measures are required. Worldwide security solutions have been developed by equipment and application manufacturers, including increasingly effective technical protection methods. the protection measures are designed according to the degree of sensitivity and the significance of the concerned resources. Our paper presents a software solution developed and implemented by using simple, but efficient algorithms compared to the solutions currently available in the field, created mainly for securing platforms/web pages and medical data files. the algorithms are obtained either by modifying the operators or the procedures of the fundamental algorithms and have been implemented in Java or C. Moreover, the parameters of the functions become constant references, in order to not copy them to objects. © 2020 IEEE.
