Good-quality environmental data acquisition is key for optimization of plant growing process. In such applications the data is collected using wireless sensor nodes that employ solar panels illuminated with artificial grow lights as the energy source. this contribution describes experimental solar panel testing setup of a wireless sensor node in which quasi-monochromatic and white lights with various spectral characteristics and intensities were used to power plant growth monitoring device. Results from the experiments show significant spectral dependencies that affect solar panel efficiency ranging from 6.4 % up to 20.8 %. therefore, solar panels and grow lights need to match up so as to maximize performance of plant growth monitoring system. © 2020 IEEE.

An important element in the design of automation systems is the identification of the dynamics of the control object. there are many analytical methods for determining object dynamics models. this article presents the results of identifying the dynamics of a fan installed in a spray booth using genetic algorithms. A model of changes in the volume of air stream from the fan was created depending on the frequency of the current supplying the fan motor. the fan with ventilation channels is a system with non-linear and non-stationary dynamics. A linear model of such a system was adopted in the form of a second-order inertial element with coefficients depending on the frequency of the fan supply current. Calculations were carried out based on the results of measurements in a real object. © 2020 the Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

the paper presents research focused on decision reducts, a feature reduction mechanism inherent to rough sets theory. As a reduct enables to protect the discriminative properties of attributes with respect to described concepts, from the point of data representation, a reduct length is considered to be the most important measure of its quality. However, such approach is insufficient while taking into account the performance of a reduct-based rule classifier applied to test samples. When many reducts of the same length are available, they can lead to vastly different predictions. the paper provides a description for the proposed procedure for iterative reduct generation, which results in decrease of diversity in the observed levels of accuracy, supporting reduct selection. the procedure was applied for binary classification with balanced classes, for the stylometric task of authorship attribution. © 2020 the Authors. In the paper there is discussed the problem of constructing and implementation the mathematical models for control algorithms of concurrent processes. For the control object example there was taken an example of 3D Cartesian machine. the control algorithm is mathematically described with use of Finite State Machine methodology in canonical and concurrent variants. Automated manufactures, nuclear power plants, railroad transportation, and spacecrafts can be reviewed as examples of very complex modern technical systems. the subsystems of such systems contain dozens of sensors, actuators, etc. To achieve the system goals we need to implement the specific schedule of right synchronized and logically coordinated processes involving various onboard devices. the system control means should be autonomous and dependable. It must implement needed control to complete system tasks in the changing environment and even in case of some faults of the equipment. the other important aspect is compliance with the limited levels of the available onboard resources during the whole mission - electric power, etc. the paper discusses the notion of such autonomous dependable control. the aspects of complexity and requirements for "intelligence" to provide needed control having been analyzed. We discuss perspective approaches to synthesis and verification of such intelligent and dependable control. © 2020 the Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

the state explosion problem faced by concolic execution is significantly serious when detecting program bugs especially in large scale software systems. To mitigate the issue, we propose a practical concolic execution approach to detect vulnerabilities in this paper. First, we identify the correlation between symbolic memory and control flow by statically analyzing the software under test, and distinguish the critical symbolic memory and ordinary symbolic memory according to the above correlation. then, we design different strategies for two kinds of symbolic memory in order to generate state when performing concolic execution of the target software. We present these ideas in a prototype system, Pracolic, and evaluate it with four file systems in Linux, i.e., ext4, XFS, Btrfs, and ReiserFS. Experimental results show that Pracolic can effectively mitigate the problem of state explosion in concolic execution, and outperform S2E, a state-of-the-art analysis system, on state reduction and code coverage for large scale software systems. © 2020 ACM.

Organizational structures control goal-directed activities of companies or groups in an efficient manner. these activities are typically described using rules, roles, and responsibilities. In this paper we focus on doxastic reasoning of groups and individuals in organizations situated in dynamic environments. We model organizational structures using partial orders what is general enough to serve our purposes. In particular, we show how belief bases associated with organizational units/entities are to be structured to reflect the induced hierarchies. the main logical tool ensuring efficiency is belief shadowing, a relatively recent approach to transient belief change. As the main contribution, we develop Drocs, a computationally friendly framework for organization-centered doxastic reasoning. An illustrative case study is also provided. © 2020 the Authors. Discretisation often constitutes a part of initial data preparation stage. It translates continuous domain of features into granular, by assigning a number of intervals to represent attributes' values by nominal categories. Typically all real-valued features are subjected to transformations, regardless of their characteristics. the paper presents research on discretisation executed with a discerning approach. To all available attributes, feature selection mechanisms were employed, in the form of rankings that order variables based on their importance. Exploiting this discovered knowledge on attributes, discretisation was then driven by a ranking, and either highest or lowest ranking features were selected for transformation. the influence of selective discretisation on the performance of classification systems was studied for three popular inducers. the procedure was employed in the field of stylometry, and a task of authorship recognition, considered as a binary classification with balanced classes. the experiments show that discretisation based on importance of features can lead to better performance than in the case of transformations applied to all attributes. © 2020 the Authors.
