the investigation of the oscillation theory in solving differential equations holds significant practical value and finds extensive applications in domains, such as radio engineering, communication engineering, computer networks, control systems and biology. this paper is concerned with the oscillatory and asymptotic behavior of third-order neutral differential equations with damping and distributed deviating arguments. By employing generalised Riccati transforms and integral averaging techniques, we establish some new theorems to ensure that all solutions of this equation oscillate or converge to zero, and the obtained results extend and improve some known results in the literature. Finally, we provide illustrative examples to demonstrate the significance of our main results.

A multi-server queueing system with various types of customers arriving in accordance with a Batch Marked Markov Arrival Process (BMMAP) is considered. the service times have exponential distribution with the rate corresponding to the type of customer. the system does not have a buffer. the customer acceptance discipline is assumed to be partial admission. the operation of the system is described by a multi-dimensional continuous time Markov chain. the stationary distribution of the states of the chain and the key system indicators (such as loss probabilities of customers of different types and the sojourn time distribution) are computed. the results are illustrated numerically. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Current security protocols such as IPSec and TLS/SSL provide security mechanisms to authenticate and protect the communication between end-hosts over the Internet. Nonetheless, new communication scenarios like mobility and heterogeneous networks have exposed some technical limitations of these protocols. Both protocols employ the IP address as end-host identifier to establish security associations between the parties, entangling the end-host identification with its topological location. In order to overcome these limitations, we propose the Identification Layer Security (IDSec), a security model to provide authentication based on public key cryptography with denial of service resistance capabilities and data integrity and confidentiality. IDSec introduces a new communication substrate based on cryptographic identifiers which natively support new services such as mobility and heterogeneous networks with security embedded in the identification layer. In order to validate the proposal, a prototype was implemented and evaluated, analyzing the performance of legacy applications in static and mobility scenarios.

Cloud services (CS) offer virtual, reliable, and flexible hardware and software resources as part of the distant Cloud Computing (CC) concept. the wide variety of products from different providers create the necessity for users to collect data and define criteria for comparing alternatives with reliable evaluation methods and techniques. this paper presents a combined approach based on Analytical Hierarchy Process(AHP), Information Entropy, and Multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) techniques. the set of evaluation criteria is decomposed and logically structured in a reasonable number of blocks which weights are computed more easily and effectively with a reduced number of AHP pair-comparisons. With the integration of Information Entropy, the weights of individual criteria within each block are defined objectively on basis of real primary data for quantitative and quantifiable parameters. this hybrid approach is applied in a case study based on QoS and QoE criteria with popular evaluation techniques like TOPSIS and MOORA. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the goal of this paper is to carry out a sensitivity analysis to examine the effect of different distributions of service time when blocking is applied with the help of retrial queueing systems having the property of two-way communication. this eventuates in outgoing calls (secondary customers) which are performed by the service unit after a random time in its idle state. Primary customers arrive from the finite-source according to an exponential distribution. this model does not contain queues so the service of an incoming request starts immediately if the server is functional and in an idle state. Impatience of the customers and server failures are characterized by this system which also follow an exponential distribution. the novelty of the investigation is to illustrate the effect of blocking with several figures obtained by simulation using various distributions of service time on the desired performance measures. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the accuracy of the neural networks can usually be improved by increasing the size of the dataset and the layers or operators of the network, as it has strong composability. But, it makes a challenge to train these models efficiently, due to the limited resources of a single device, such as memory, computational resource and so on. For this challenge, it has become an inevitable trend to automatically implement model parallelism across multiple devices. this paper proposes Aware, an adaptive distributed parallel training method, to search distributed parallel strategy automatically for deep learning model. It firstly proposes an operator fusion strategy with computation and communication awareness to simplify the computational graph of deep learning model. And then, it introduces position-aware graph embedding algorithm to extract the structural features of models, which can make the searched parallel strategies to transplant to other networks with similar structures. On this basis, we use reinforcement learning algorithm to search distributed parallel strategy automatically. this paper makes experiments with neural networks such as Inception V3, NMT, GNM, NasNet and ResNet, and uses CIFAR10 and PTB datasets to compare the two methods of Hierarchical and Placeto. the results show that compared with Placeto, Aware achieves up to 5% reductions in runtime. Aware achieves more than 8% reductions in runtime compared with Hierarchical. Moreover, it has better transplantation and generalization capabilities, and supports pre-training for large-scale network parallel strategy search and accelerates convergence. © 2022 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have received considerable attention in recent years as they have great potential for many distributed applications in several different scenarios. Whatever the scenario, most WSNs are actually connected to an external network, through which sensed information are passed to the Internet and control messages can reach the WSN. Despite the need of integrating WSN and Internet, this is a complex task. this paper presents SAGe (Sensor Advanced Gateway), a gateway for integrating Wireless Sensor networks and the Internet. SAGe enables the communication between services running on Internet hosts and WSN nodes, allowing their integration at service level. In order to show SAGe in action, we present distributed applications that spread out through theWSN and Internet, emphasizing SAGe functionality. © 2010 IEEE.

In distributed optimization, parameter updates from the gradient computing node devices have to be aggregated in every iteration on the orchestrating server. When these updates are sent over an arbitrary commodity network, bandwidth and latency can be limiting factors. We propose a communication framework where nodes may skip unnecessary uploads. Every node locally accumulates an error vector in memory and self-triggers the upload of the memory contents to the parameter server using a significance filter. the server then uses a history of the nodes' gradients to update the parameter. We characterize the convergence rate of our algorithm in smooth settings (strongly-convex, convex, and nonconvex) and show that it enjoys the same convergence rate as when sending gradients every iteration, with substantially fewer uploads. Numerical experiments on real data indicate a significant reduction of used network resources (total communicated bits and latency), especially in large networks, compared to state-of-the-art algorithms. Our results provide important practical insights for using machine learning over resource-constrained networks, including Internet-of-things and geo-separated datasets across the globe.

We consider analysis and design of distributed filters for continuous-time stochastic systems, where the partial information about the states is measured by a distributed set of sensor units. these units are represented by nodes in an undirected and connected graph, whose edges represent the communication links between sensor units. It is stipulated that the communication between sensor nodes is time-sampled randomly and the sampling process is described by a Poisson counter. Our proposed filtering algorithm for each sensor node is a stochastic hybrid system: It comprises a continuous-time differential equation, and at random time instants when communication takes place, each sensor node updates its state estimate based on the information received by its neighbors. For this setup, we compute the expectation of the error covariance matrix for each node which is governed by a matrix differential equation, and relate its convergence with the mean sampling rate. © 2021 Owner/Author.

this paper proposes a fully distributed, density-control, and multi-hop dynamic maintenance algorithm (DCMA) to repair the coverage holes in wireless sensor networks. Decision and movement of the nodes are autonomous and involve only limited distance to maintain the connectivity. While maintaining the coverage and connectivity, the proposed algorithm aims at minimizing average moving distance and energy consumption of sensor nodes. Further, it takes the density measures into consideration when deciding which node to move and to what direction and distance to improve the non-uniform distribution of sensor nodes. Simulation results reveal that the proposed algorithm performs better than other maintenance algorithms in terms of coverage, convergence, energy consumption, uniformity, and sensitivity of communication range. © 2010 IEEE.
