Withthe explosion of the Internet, we are evolving a worldwide network computing environment. At this point, the surged challenge is the next evolutionary technology for the Internet-oriented applications. A KODAMA (Kyushu university Open & distributed Autonomous Multi-Agent) system is deployed for this demand. KODAMA system can interconnect disparate and distributed agents together to solve some problem whose solution is typically beyond any singular agent's capabilities the key aspects of KODAMA agents are their autonomy, collaboration, flexibility: as well as stability. To obtain all these features, appropriate scheme of collaboration among agents is clearly critical. Our new approach focuses on both raising the level of abstraction at which agents cooperate with each other, and hiding the implementation derails of communications from agents.

the disassembly of products is a key process in the treatment of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. When performed efficiently, it enables the maximization of resources re-usage and a minimization of pollution. However, currently employed automation solutions are mainly custom-oriented and not quite suited to cope withthe dynamic nature of the disassembly environment resulting from the wide variety of products to be disassembled as well as their general shape at their disposal (e.g., scratches and fractions). To overcome these limitations we present an ontology-based automated disassembly system that integrates distributed multi-agent based machine control as well as vision-based real-time path planning and robot automation. On the one side, the usage of ontologies in combination with intelligent agents provides the system with agility and the ability to autonomously perform soft- and hardware modifications in order to perform a particular activity (e.g., by selecting a specific tool). On the other side, the flexible semantic coupling of the ontology withthe vision system supports the "understanding" of the captured image and enables an automated and robust realization of the individual disassembly operations as well as their coordination.

In this paper we propose a distributed broadcasting algorithm for wireb?ss ad hoc networks. In the algorithm, an efficient strategy is used to determine the forward status of a node by just checking whether there exists a ring that contains all its neighbors. the proposed algorithm is more efficient than the existing broadcasting algorithms in the literatures. that is, the size of the forwarding nodes found by our algorithm is smaller and the running time is faster than other broadcasting. algorithms. Reducing the number of forwarding nodes will decrease the probability of transmission collision, and hence improve the packet delivery ratio. the algorithm runs in O (d(2)) time, where d is the maximum node degree. the full coverage is not guaranteed but as shown by the simulation results, the probability of full coverages can be over 99 percent when the network contains 100 or more nodes.

GIS based on Internet as a promising research field brings new opportunities and challenges to geographic information accessing, sharing and disseminating. However, the inherent limitation of current Internet GIS architecture based on connection makes it incompetent to fulfill various requirements of GIS applications under dynamic, complicated and distributedcomputing environment such as the Mobile Internet. As a recently developed paradigm in distributedcomputing, mobile agent can especially benefit (Mobile) Internet applications on providing asynchronous task execution and more dynamics, supporting flexible and extensible cooperation, reducing communication bandwidth, enhancing real time abilities and higher degree of robustness, enabling off-line processing and disconnected operation. this paper presents a mobile agent based approach to query distributed geographic information, which can overcome the drawbacks of the traditional connection-based access method A prototype was implemented to access distributed geographic information transparently by using Aglets, which is a free mobile agent development platform developed by IBM.

Cloud computing has become an emerging computing paradigm which brings new opportunities and challenges to overcome. While the cloud provides seemingly limitless scalability and an alternative to expensive data center infrastructure, it raises new issues in regards to security and privacy as processing and storage tasks are handed over to third parties. this article outlines a distributed OSGi (DOSGi) architecture for sharing electronic health records utilizing public and private clouds which overcomes some of the security issues inherent in cloud systems. this system, called HCX (Health Cloud eX-change), allows for health records and related healthcare services to be dynamically discovered and interactively used by client programs accessing services within a federated cloud. A basic prototype is presented as proof of concept along with a description of the steps and processes involved in setting up the underlying security services. Several improvements have been added to HCX including a Role-Based Single-Sign-On (RBSSO).

the development of a prediction process for estimating the performance of parallel algorithms designed for distributed memory multiprocessor systems is discussed in this paper. this effort is targeted in reducing the waste of computing as well as man power in developing efficient parallel algorithms by providing rough analysis on the execution time of the developed algorithms without actually running the user programs on the actual parallel machines. A preliminary version of this tool has been in use leading to relatively reliable prediction results.

Summary form only given. Grid computing is increasingly being viewed as the next phase of distributedcomputing. Built on pervasive Internet standards, grid computing enables organizations to share computing and information resources across department and organizational boundaries in a secure, highly efficient manner. Grid computing originates in eScience and its early development was driven to a large extent by the requirements of large-scale computing and efficient sharing of huge datasets. eBusiness requirements led to the adoption of emerging Web services technologies - initially developed for distributed business application integration. therefore grid computing can be applied to enterprise computing within and across organizations and pave the way for utility computing. I present major Grid computing projects for both eScience and eBusiness in Japan (including NaReGI and Business Grid) and several key Grid products and applications (including CyberGRIP and Resource Coordinator both developed by Fujitsu). the Global Grid Forum (GGF) is leading the standardization of grid computing. In particular, GGF has developed the Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) and is working throughout the industry to champion this "architectural blueprint" and the associated specifications that will enable the pervasive adoption of grid computing for eBusiness and eScience worldwide
