this paper is written as a continuation of works devoted to solving the task of increasing the firewall performance in conditions of high heterogeneity and variability of the parameters of the filtered network traffic. the paper shows a simulation model that is intended for the evaluation of the major performance indicators of a firewall when ranging a filtration rule set. We’ve evaluated the effectiveness of the method for ranging a filtration rule set (it was developed earlier by the authors) for various parameters of the simulation model and different scenarios of network traffic behavior. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the extensive growth of vehicular applications required highly computational resources to execute the application on time, but due to having limited capacity of resources such as vehicles themselves, it causes latency and more computation load. thereby, to reduce the overhead on fixed roadside servers in hybrid vehicular networks, we propose an intelligent resource orchestration scheme for task distribution among vehicles at traffic light junctions and parking areas in hybrid vehicular networks. An artificial intelligence based resource orchestration scheme is proposed for estimating edge members to execute task. Further, a task distribution model is proposed at traffic light junctions. Simulation is done using NS3 and the results shows better performance in term of lesser computational time and lower communication load with higher throughput and minimal latency in the proposed scheme. the scheme exhibits that it is efficient with the comparative benchmarks. © 2024 ACM.

the article proposes a method for assigning a modulation coding scheme (MCS) by a base station (BS) scheduler on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), based on predicting the value of the signal-to-interference-to-noise ratio (SINR) on the mobile user equipment (UE) at the next time slot from a sequence of known values of this ratio in the past. Prediction is performed using machine learning. For this, a neural network was built and applied to solve the problem of multi-parameter optimization using the stochastic gradient method. the trained neural network for the predicted SINR value allows the scheduler to select the modulation-code scheme correctly, thereby ensuring the level of data transmission quality in the radio channel necessary to provide the service. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, we propose method for calculating the distribution of the number of consecutively lost customers in the single-server queueing system with a finite buffer, batch Markovian arrival process and phase type distribution of service time. the most well-known and important performance measure of finite capacity systems is the probability of losing an arbitrary customer. Loss probability is the subject of research in the literature under various assumptions about the nature of the input flow and the distribution of service time. At the same time, this characteristic may be not always a good estimate of the quality of service in queuing systems that arise in the mathematical modeling of telecommunication networks. More indicative in this case is the probability of losing several customers in a row caused by an overflowing buffer. We propose explicit formulas that characterize the distribution and mathematical expectation of the number of consecutively lost customers in the system under consideration. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In recent years, advancements in technology have brought forth a new frontier in visual communication. Holography is a technique that captures and reproduces three-dimensional (3D) images with an unprecedented level of realism and depth, has emerged as a groundbreaking method for conveying visual information. Unlike traditional images and videos, holography recreates scenes with full parallax, enabling viewers to perceive objects from various angles. the transmission of holographic images presents both exciting possibilities and unique challenges. To this end, this article investigates a novel method for transmitting holographic images efficiently across communication networks. this innovative approach involves transmitting data related to control point movements rather than the entire image. the technique focuses on capturing the dynamic 3D movements of a person and transmitting information about the shifts in their control points. To achieve this, a system comprising three distinct applications has been devised. these applications are responsible for recording object motion data, converting it into key point coordinates, transmitting it through communication networks, and rendering the data as movements of a 3D object within an augmented reality (AR) application. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

the modern network technology ecosystem is expanding rapidly in multiple dimensions. Due to the demands of the Tactile Internet and fifth-generation (5G) networks, conventional approaches are no longer producing significant advancements. the imminent integration of immersive technologies holds the potential to revolutionize human existence, ushering in a new era of fully realized and enhanced human-to-machine interactions (H2M). this paradigm shift is poised to offer many benefits and adopt wireless technologies to enable real-time remote control. Concurrently, introducing the Tactile Internet necessitates a fundamental reevaluation of the foundational principles governing current and prospective communication networks. this article delves into an experimental endeavor that seeks to seamlessly integrate immersive technologies within 5G networks. A microservice application was developed for this purpose, simulating the nuanced movements of a person’s hand in space and facilitating the expression of intricate gestures. the article also delves into the strategies employed to minimize latency, enhancing the overall experience. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

the paper considers a network formed by a swarm of drones exchanging data in the absence of information about relative positioning, for example, when there are no connections to a satellite geolocation system and a cellular network. For the scenario where one of the drones is a receiver and the rest are transmitters, using the apparatus of the theory of random processes and the mathematical teletraffic theory, a method is proposed to estimate the main indicators of the efficiency of data exchange between drones, to analyze key performance metrics, namely, message loss probability, data transmission delay, spent energy per message transaction, and battery lifetime distribution. © 2022, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
