Owing to the increasing penetration of offshore wind energy in smart grids, accurate forecasting plays a significant role in energy improvement and economic dispatch. However, owing to the intermittent and uncertain nature of wind power, traditional numerical weather prediction methods can hardly capture the fluctuation caused by wind power. this paper proposes a deep-learning based forecasting algorithm to predict offshore wind power under consideration of various environmental factors. In order to reduce forecasting error, an ensemble strategy is utilized to improve the prediction performance. the developed model has been practically tested on an offshore wind farm in Nantong, China. the forecasting results demonstrate the high accuracy and quality of the proposed method for wind power prediction, which provides an efficient reference to optimal power system operation.

Traffic speed prediction is a significant branch of the intelligent transportation system (ITS). A good prediction could alleviate the non-recurring congestion on the road and provide a strong decision-making basis for traffic management and control. However, it is always a challenging research problem due to the complexity of the road network and the dynamics of traffic conditions. Many deep learning-based methods have been applied to the traffic prediction problem, which could extract both spatial and temporal information efficiently. However, for some dataset that suffers from data paucity problem, the generalization ability of the model is not good and the performance degrades. To tackle this problem, we proposed a novel graph-based generative adversarial network for the traffic speed prediction problem. We design a generative network to generate some fake traffic data and use a discriminative network to distinguish between real and fake targets. the generator consists of a GraphSAGE and LSTM model to learn the representation of spatial-temporal traffic data. Several experiments have been conducted on several real-world traffic datasets, demonstrating that our proposed model outperforms other baseline models. the experiment results illustrate the importance of utilizing GAN in the training process, which improves the generalization ability of the prediction model.

Energy has allowed the development of our society and currently, the hydrogen-powered fuel cell is the most promising energy source of the future since it would help to eliminate serious problems such as climate change and economic inequality. the fuel cell converts the chemical energy of the reactants used into electrical energy and produces water and heat as by-products during its operation. the proton exchange membrane fuel cell is expected to play a key role in the future energy system due to its favourable characteristics and its application in mobile phones, electric vehicles, distributed power systems, submarines and aerospace applications. To optimize the operation of the fuel cell, models have been developed that represent it as a structural, dimensional, thermal and state system, which requires -as a contribution to technological development-, a strategic and systemic vision. the document analyzes the technique of numerical methods, to ensure optimal operation of the Proton exchange membrane fuel cell, addressing non-linearities of electrical behaviour and the imprecision of the physical world.

this paper is concerned with discrete time Kalman-type filtering with state transition and measurement noises that may be non-additive or non-linearly transformed. More specifically, we extend the iterative estimation algorithm Posterior Linearization Filter (PLF) for estimation with this kind of noises. the approach solves the prediction and update step simultaneously, which allows to use the PLF iterations to improve the estimation in the non-linear state transition model. the proposed algorithm also produces single step fixed-lag smoothing estimates. We show in examples how the proposed approach can be used with non-Gaussian state transition noises and non-linearly transformed state transition noises.

this study aims to propose the first unsupervised deep learning based framework to detect primitive shapes in unorganized point clouds. the benefits of the proposed model are as follows: first, modeling primitive shapes mathematically and making the annotation and generation of training data automatically can assist in training a network in an unsupervised manner without using any pre-annotated datasets. the proposed approach is able to expand to other 3D point clouds related tasks when the datasets are not big enough. Experiments and results demonstrate that the proposed unsupervised methods can achieve an accuracy on par with supervised approach for primitive shape detection in 3d point clouds.

the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms, including deep neural networks (DNN) for classifying image data, depends on proper preparation of the training dataset. Erroneously labeled images in the training data will degrade algorithmic efficiency and cause unpredictable model behavior, thus reduce its safety. Verifying labels in the numerous available databases remains a complicated and laborious task. In this article, we present a MultiNET approach that allows for efficient verification of labeled image datasets. We adapt a state-of-the-art technique, namely Confidence Learning, extending its flexibility and improving the effectiveness by combining outcomes from various DNN architectures. thanks to the proposed modification, it is possible to automatically detect incorrect labels while minimizing the number of false positives, thus making the verification process much less burdensome. the technique may be of use for researchers and software engineers dealing with externally supplied image datasets.

In this paper, a Conditional Diffusion Model (CDM) based signal anti-jamming algorithm is proposed to solve the problem that traditional algorithms such as Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) are not good at dealing with interference signals in train satellite navigation receivers. We use one-dimensional Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) time domain signals as input conditions, and then use CDM to predict the noise distribution from the fully noisy signal and reconstruct the QPSK signal. Experimental analysis shows that CDM has significant advantages over traditional methods in denoising QPSK signals, and shows higher accuracy under high-intensity noise interference, and the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) can be increased from -25dB to 30dB. this provides precise navigation and positioning support for train operation.

Considering the rising prevalence of neurological diseases like Parkinson's, novel treatment methods have advanced significantly in recent years. One promising approach is transplanting stem cells into targeted brain regions, for which developing precise equipment is essential. A critical method for implanting these cells is columnar injection into brain tissue. the present research focuses on designing and fabricating a microinjector device for the controlled columnar injection of stem cells into the brains of Parkinson's patients. Inspired by existing microdrive models, the newly developed device stands out for using two motors as actuators, two encoders, and a PID controller. this configuration compensates for operational errors and environmental noise, ensuring precise injections at the required rate. the PID controller is designed using system identification, where equations governing the power transmission systems are derived and implemented. To verify the device's performance, the injection rate for a standard procedure (25 microliters at 1 microliter per minute) is measured using encoders and validated with a digital caliper. the instantaneous injection rate is calculated using the encoder and caliper data. While the average of these data is the same, the standard deviation of the caliper data is significantly lower than that of the encoder data. this indicates that the device is functioning as expected and that much of the noise in the encoder data originates from the sensor itself.

Mathematical models of the cardiovascular system and of cerebral autoregulation (CAR) have been employed for several years in order to describe the time course of pressures and flows changes subsequent to postural changes. the assessment of the degree of efficiency of cerebral auto regulation has indeed importance in the prognosis of such conditions as cerebro-vascular accidents or Alzheimer. In the quest for a simple but realistic mathematical description of cardiovascular control, which may be fitted onto non-invasive experimental observations after postural changes, the present work proposes a first version of an empirical Stochastic Delay Differential Equations (SDDEs) model. the model consists of a total of four SDDEs and two ancillary algebraic equations, incorporates four distinct delayed controls from the brain onto different components of the circulation, and is able to accurately capture the time course of mean arterial pressure and cerebral blood flow velocity signals, reproducing observed auto-correlated error around the expected drift.

the analysis of affective states through time in multi-person scenarii is very challenging, because it requires to consistently track all persons over time. this requires a robust visual appearance model capable of re-identifying people already tracked in the past, as well as spotting newcomers. In real-world applications, the appearance of the persons to be tracked is unknown in advance, and therefore one must devise methods that are both discriminative and flexible. Previous work in the literature proposed different tracking methods with fixed appearance models. these models allowed, up to a certain extend, to discriminate between appearance samples of two different people. We propose online deep appearance network (ODANet), a method able to track people, and simultaneously update the appearance model with the newly gathered annotation-less images. Since this task is specially relevant for autonomous systems, we also describe a platform-independent robotic implementation of ODANet. Our experiments show the superiority of the proposed method with respect to the state of the art, and demonstrate the ability of ODANet to adapt to sudden changes in appearance, to integrate new appearances in the tracking system and to provide more identity-consistent tracks. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
