In this paper an optimal control design approach is used to compute optimal strategies of intervention in terms of the combined actions of vaccination and social distancing. the aim is to define times and modalities of reduction of the individual limitations compatibly with a cost associated to the epidemic effects on the population healthy, to the social and economic consequences of the containment measures and to the vaccination campaign. A mathematical model, obtained adapting and improving a previously proposed and validated one, is introduced to this control design aim. Simulation results obtained for different choices of costs and constraints are also reported and discussed.

this paper presents a nonlinear 4-channel bilateral teleoperation system, without using force sensor. In the design procedure, the adaptive control laws estimate and compensate the exerted forces on both master and slave robots. the estimated forces are then used in a control loop for modifying the trajectory of both robots to meet the full transparency condition. the stability and the transparency of the teleoperation system are analyzed, based on the Lyapunov theorem. Some simulations are also presented for a two planar two-degree of freedom manipulator to show the efficiency of the proposed control algorithm.

this paper investigates the design of a multivariate B-spline neural network using the orthogonal least squares algorithm for non-linear system identification. the B-spline neural network is a type of basis function neural network which has been developed from the function approximation approach based on B-spline functions. Usually, this kind of neural network is trained using the gradient-based algorithm. In order to overcome the problems regarding the stability of the training procedure, a learning procedure based on the orthogonal least squares algorithm is suggested in this paper. this approach allows for the setting of the B-spline functions knots and also of the neural network's weights. An experimental study was conducted in order to identify a neural model for the three-Tank system laboratory set-up using the multivariate B-spline neural network designed withthe suggested procedure.

A regulator and model following controller via input-output feedback linearization for discrete-time nonlinear systems were derived using discrete-time piecewise multilinear models in this paper. the piecewise multilinear (PML) system has nonlinear dynamics, and is built by the corner values of the regions. Input-output feedback linearization was applied to the PML for the conversion of each PML system into one linearized system called the Brunovsky normal form. Two examples were exhibited to confirm the advantages of the controllers in numerical simulations.

We present recent results on hadron structure using lattice QCD simulations with physical values of the light, strange and charm quark masses. We overview progress on quantities that probe the three-dimensional structure of the nucleon focusing on recent results on Mellin moments and the direct computation of the x-dependence of parton distribution functions employing mainly the quasi-parton distribution approach within the large momentum effective theory.

Model predictive control (MPC) have received wide attention in many industrial field owing to its optimization capability for the practical control plant with constraints. However, the control performance of the closed-loop system is rarely considered in MPC design. In this paper, a relatively simple performance tuning approach for MPC-based engine speed control is investigated based on the inverse linear quadratic (ILQ) regulator design technique. Considering the nonlinear and time-varying properties of the engine system, the linear tracking dynamical system is deduced from the mean value model of gasoline engines by means of the feedback linearization method. then the MPC optmization problem can be formulated withthis linear tracking dynamics. In order to realize the convenient performance tuning, the MPC quadratic weightings are designed to be only related to a single tuning parameter according to the inverse optimality conditons of LQ problem. the experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed speed tracking controller and tuning method provides a trade-off between the response sensitivity and the magnitude of the control input.

In this paper, a solution for the asphaltic emulsion temperature simulation and control in an industrial tank is proposed. the asphaltic emulsion heating process is a distributed parameter one and its model is expressed using a partial differential equation. In this context, an original solution of including a distributed parameter process in a control structure is presented. the numerical simulation of the control structure is made using the method of the matrix of partial derivatives of the state vector associated with approximating solutions and Taylor series. through the possibility to controlthe temperature value of the emulsion and to monitor its value in any point from the tank, the main problem of the energy consume reduction is solved in the present paper. this aspect is due to the fact that, in normal storage conditions, the emulsion can be maintained at a minimum temperature, respectively its temperature is increased only before being delivered to the tank cars.

the paper designs a performance test method which is based on the international network test theory and the actual operation of urban rail train safety detection sensor network. Withthe establishment of the benchmark testing systemthat takes transmission delay, packet loss rate, throughput and back to back as indexes and the overall network performance test evaluation model, the performance test method proposed by the article can be used to evaluate a network that has identified network topology and protocols, and choose rational network topology and protocols when designing a network.
