Stormwater management is a crucial environmental and public health issue, particularly in urban areas, where impervious surfaces limit rainwater infiltration into the soil. Traditional stormwater management systems have limitations in detecting and predicting the behavior of runoff, which can lead to flooding. this study focuses on using the Internet of things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to optimize stormwater systems. Overall, these systems employ various IoT devices to monitor critical parameters of the stormwater network in real-time. the data collected by these devices are processed and analyzed using AI algorithms such as machine learning and deep learning, which enable the system to detect anomalies, predict potential flooding events, and provide decision-makers with valuable insights into the behavior of surface runoff. Integrating IoT and AI technologies in stormwater man-agement improves efficiency, early issues detection, real-time decision-making, and reduced environmental damage. thus, this study shows a possible architecture that exploits IoT and AI technologies to build a stormwater management system that can provide real-time and predictive control and monitoring. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

this paper establishes an optimization model for carbon reduction operation of power systems with renewable energy under the coordinated configuration of generators with traditional and new energy. Using duality theory and KKT conditions, the robust optimization problem with a “minimum-maximum-minimum” structure is decomposed into two stages for solution. the main problem(M-problem) is to minimize the problem structure and adopt a relaxed form, considering the requirements for carbon emission in energy system and the control expectations for curtailment volume in wind and solar power. the subproblem(S-problem) is a maximum minimum structure, where the objective function and constraints contain nonlinear variables. Using the optimization results in the first stage, the scenarios with the worst operation in energy utilization and carbon emission control are determined, and the newly generated variables and constraints are taken back to the M-problem. An studying example with simulation operation results in three scenarios is carried out to give a proof for the proposed method in theory and application.

With the increasing number of real-time monitoring networks, the relevance of the transmitted information has become an important characteristic. Examples of such networks include sensor networks that measure and transmit atmospheric pressure, temperature and other environmental parameters, unmanned vehicles that require up-to-date information about speed, position and acceleration, and other systems. In all of these applications, information becomes obsolete over time and loses its value. In this paper, a single-layer multicasting network with tree topology is constructed. A source generates updates containing information about the state of the remote system and sends them to the root node, which transmits them to n end nodes. the transmission is carried out using a stopping scheme with threshold k. the point of the stopping scheme is to stop transmitting the update to the remaining n-k nodes after the first k nodes acknowledge its receiving. the peak age of information (AoI) at the end nodes is of interest. the analysis is carried out using mathematical and simulation modelling. Approximate and exact formulas for the average peak AoI at the end nodes are obtained, which match the simulation results. the analysis shows that the use of stopping scheme not only improves the efficiency of radio resource utilisation by reducing the number of transmissions, but also reduces the AoI at the end nodes. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

High reliability and efficiency of microgrids are being threatened by cyber attacks. this paper investigates a Secondary Frequency control Scheme (SFCS) for an islanded microgrid with Event-Triggering Mechanism (ETM) under Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. Firstly, the microgrid dynamic model is reviewed and control objectives are formulated. Secondly, a cooperative frequency control scheme combined with distributed event-triggering mechanism is presented to achieve the desired frequency control under DoS attacks. thirdly, the stability and Zeno Behaviour of the closed-loop system are analysed by Lyapunov theory. this novel research is dedicated to creating an application called Lalitha that helps disabled people control an entire workstation only with their hand gestures. Lalitha has proved to be a great tool for providing brilliant user interaction and user satisfaction in terms of controlling the computer only with hand gestures. Especially, for people with disability, Lalitha would be an extremely useful tool. We incorporated Arduino, ultrasonic sensors, and software to create Lalitha. We tested our system with almost 300 people and we got positive feedback about our application Lalitha. In a word, we can claim that Lalitha is simple to set up, easy to use and its performance is brilliant. We have provided all the details of this entire application in this paper. In the rapidly evolving field of human-computer interaction (HCI), Many different industries, from gaming and augmented reality to medicine and accessibility, might benefit from this interface, this research proposes using Arduino and infrared sensors to create a system that can be controlled by hand gestures, Here We use ultrasonic sensors to detect the hand gesture and measure the distance of the palm. Ultrasonic sensors work through the time-of-flight principle (ToF), Arduino is an open-source platform that provides an accessible and versatile way to create interactive electronic projects It serves as the brain of the project. Hand gesture control provides novel approaches that increase efficiency and security in several sectors. In our project, we combine the concept of controlling PowerPoint presentations, and multimedia along with tab switching of various applications through various hand gestures. We designed Lalitha, a gesture-based recognition system that will identify gestures efficiently and control the device based on user instructions. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

We focus on optimal control problems where the cost to be minimized is the total time a trajectory of a control system spends inside a given set K, known as “the minimal time crisis”. the distintctive aspect of this problem is that it involves a discontinuous functional with respect to the state variable, a fact that prevents the straightforward application of the classical maximum principle. Here, we propose a multiprocess approach to define necessary conditions of optimality for this problem. this paper addresses the distributed load frequency control (LFC) problem for multi-area interconnected power systems (MAIPSs) with thermal and wind power generations, considering both inter-area and intra-area transmission delays and random packet losses induced by communication networks. Firstly, a heterogeneous framework of MAIPSs is constructed, where a networked distributed model predictive control (DMPC) scheme is proposed to compensate for transmission delays and random packet losses. Based on this framework, we then developed a distributed closed-loop LFC system model for heterogeneous MAIPS. Subsequently, a Luenberger observer is constructed to estimate the system state of the local area, and a networked feedback controller is designed to ensure stability with a certain H∞ performance level for the networked MAIPSs. Moreover, stability conditions and controller design criteria are provided by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theory. Finally, the control performance of the proposed method is verified through an example of a two-area interconnected power system. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

this paper describes the results of developing a PST5G-enabled robot driving and working function with automatic and remote control. this system is unique because it is mainly configured to use the cloud. All the processes for automatic robot control were reallocated to the cloud side, leaving only the minimum configuration on the edge side to build a system that can run automatically. In order to automatically control a robot in a 5G environment, we organized the necessary elements, investigated the limitations of the elements, measured the delay of each element, and summarized the results. the rapid expansion of Internet traffic can be attributed to the continuous development of cloud computing, big data, 5G networks and further developments in information technology, and the corresponding data center power system that provides power support for information systems is increasing in size. Information systems are generally reliable, but specific failures in the power infrastructure of large data centers can lead to a complete power outage, for example. therefore, it is necessary to analyze whether the power system of a large-scale data center has the potential for such local failures and which equipment failure leads to such events. In this paper, four centralization methods based on graph theory are used to verify the central components within the power infrastructure of a real data center. the results show that the centralization in the power systems of large-scale data centers conforms to the power law distribution, and failures in specific devices can lead to large-scale power outages.

Platooning control of connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs) is emerging as a promising strategy to enhance fuel efficiency, traffic flow, and overall safety at road intersections. However, coordinating multiple self-driving vehicles while ensuring traffic safety and efficiency is challenging due to inherent nonlinearities in vehicle dynamics. Towards addressing this challenge, an optimal distributed leader-tracking control for heterogeneous vehicle platoons with nonlinear dynamics at an unsignalized intersection is proposed. the distributed control system is designed based on reinforcement learning (RL) theory that learns the optimal control actions from the vehicle system data without requiring any prior knowledge of vehicle dynamics. the performance of the developed control strategy is validated through a novel virtual testing platform, called Mixed Traffic Simulator (MiTraS), combining MATLAB/Simulink and SUMO microscopic traffic simulator. the design and structure of MiTraS is explained and various cooperative driving maneuvers are simulated using this platform to demonstrate its potential and effectiveness in validity the theoretical findings of the work. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
