Google's Android Native Development Kit (ndK) is a toolset that lets you embed components to use of native code in your Android applications. It makes possible for developers to easily compile in C/C++ for the Android development platform. Generally, developer does not concern how effective between native code and Dalvik Java code that will causes poor performance of Android. There are some researches discussed about benchmark Java and C/C++. But they do not consider the issues of Dalvik and native code for Android programming or evaluate them in real Android device. In this work, we use a more complete approach to benchmark Dalvik java code and Native code on real Android device. We conducted 12 test programs to analyze the performance and found that native code faster than Dalvik Java code for about 34.2%. © 2011 IEEE.

Since both the information which is existed in an organization and its security play a terrific and significant role in a current competitive world, a stringent planning is required for the Information Security Management System implementation project. In this paper, a planning for executing the mentioned project is proposed by considering five essential processes of project management. Since completion times of some activities are not admissible for the respective project customer, they need to be altered. Thus, a linear programming model with the cost minimization objective function is formulated. In other words, with the model and conditions proposed in this paper, no activity is forced to be eliminated for delivering the project within acceptable time and the dimensions of time, cost, quality and the scope are not sacrificed for one another and they are all noticed simultaneously. This project as it is described in this paper is planned and executed in one of Iranian leading IT-based companies. © 2011 IEEE.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a robust multi-carrier modulation technique for high data rata wired/wireless transmission systems due to its good performance in multi-path channels. In this paper, a chaos-evolutionary programming (CEP) hybrid approach is proposed to achieve a minimum degradation of OFDM transmission over multi-path channels, taking into account, the Doppler effect and Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN), under bit error rate (BER) constraint. CEP is employed to find the optimum length of the guard Interval (GI), which is proposed to overcome the problem of interferences that occur at the receiver. An illustrative example is given to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2011 IEEE.

We consider a distribution network design problem where the decision maker needs to decide the sites of perishable agricultural product distribution centers. Each distribution center has sufficient capacity for the consumer zones it serves, and each consumer zone accepts the products only from one distribution center. The objective is to minimize the total cost that includes location costs and inventory costs at the distribution centers, and transportation costs and decay loss costs on the distribution ways. We show that this problem can be formulated as a 0-1 integer programming model, for which we propose a greedy dropping heuristic algorithm (GDHA) and a genetic algorithm (GA) with alert location-allocation local search method respectively. We present computational results for several instances of the problem with sizes ranging from 10 to 300 consumer zones. Our results show that GA suits for the model's final satisfactory solution, while GDHA suits for the intermediate feasible solution. © 2011 IEEE.

An analysis of over 750 quests from four popular RPGs (Eve Online, World of Warcraft, Everquest, and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes) reveals that RPG quests appear to share a common structure. We propose a classification of RPG quests based on this structure, and describe a prototype quest generator based on that classification. Our aim is to procedurally generate quests that are complex, multi-leveled, and plausible to players of RPGs. We analyze a nontrivial quest from Everquest and one from our prototype quest generator for comparison. © ACM.

Most of the ultrasonic distance measurements are based on the determination of the Time of flight. Digital signal processing techniques for obtaining high accuracy in ultrasonic distance measurements are presented in this paper. The proposed method employs a Wavelet Transform or Short Time Fourier Transform to extract the envelope of the reflected pulse echo, together with a Cross-correlation pulse detection algorithm for Time of flight estimation. The simulated system consists of five elements transducer array as both transmitter and receiver. The transducer array is formed by aligning the transducers with minimum spacing between elements of 2 wavelengths. The results show the accuracy with the theoretical value. The simulation for the above said application has been implemented using LabVIEW (Laboratory virtual instrument engineering workbench) developed by National Instrument, is a graphical programming environment suited for high-level or system level design. Advantage of this approach is the flexibility and very rapid development time offered by this graphical programming software. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Multi-core programming becomes a research hotspot in recent years, as traditional serial programs cannot give full play to the performance benefits of multi-core processor. In this paper, we proposed an optimized approach of JPEG decompression based on multi-core processor, which is an instance of producer-consumer model with implement of list structure. It was shown that the approach improved JPEG decompression performance in terms of decoding time. © 2011 IEEE.

A 3D natural seepage model of a hydropower station was established based on the engineering hydrogeology, the sequential quadratic programming was used to invert the natural seepage field and permeability parameters of the hydropower station. The inversion permeability parameters and reasonable intercepting boundaries were obtained, and the boreholes, whose head difference between the inversion and in-situ is below 20m, amount to the 80% of the total. This indicates that the natural seepage model can reflect the main engineering geological and groundwater distribution features of the hydropower station, the obtained permeability parameters and boundaries are reasonable. © 2011 IEEE.

In the traffic information collection, Multi-sensor can be achieved in time and space information complementary. How to extract and process the discrete data effectively, become an important issue on multi-sensor comprehensive information collection. Based on the principle that same traffic conditions lead to similar traffic status, we present a new multi-sensor detection method for traffic flow by applying Nearness Degree Data Fusion Technology. According to the actual traffic measurement background, in the article we also put forward another improved idea that time factor which has major impact on should be considered into the actual engineering application of the traffic flow detection. Firstly, with reference to noise ratio method of multi-sensor data fusion, the traffic sensor measurements collection is treated as a fuzzy set, it measures the mutual integrated nearness degree of sensors at different times by their maximum and minimum close levels. Then the multi-sensor data fusion methods and algorithms for traffic flow detection based on the defined consistent reliability measurement were designed. At last, an application example experimental was performed by Matlab programming and it proved that the proposed method is simple and effective. The method has good accuracy and stability. © 2011 IEEE.

The implementation of the distance learning and e-learning in technical fields like Mechanical and Electrical engineering is still far behind the similar developments in narrative fields like Economy, management. New approach and new specific knowledge are required to develop such a system. We expect to meet the requirements of distance learning by developing the software-based laboratory exercises, i.e., a virtual laboratory. That's why a graphical user interface (GUI) and simulator is designed here using LabVIEW software for the cable robot of IcasBot (IUST Cable Suspended Robot) with 6 DOFs and 6 actuating cables. This interface is designed to be used for training the users in a virtual environment. This proposed GUI Consists of 4 main sections including of kinematics and Dynamics of cable robot and simulator of robot which is employed to display the virtual motion of the end-effector. Using the proposed GUI in this paper, the user is able to view and study the end-effector motion in a virtual environment before operating the tests on the real robot. Also this software package is designed in a way that could be applicable for simulating all sorts of robots in order to train the users of educational and industrial environments. © 2011 IEEE.
