A home-made automatic analyzer to determine the dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in seawater was introduced in this paper. This analyzer was based on ultraviolet-potassium persulphate oxidation method. The analyzer has 7 parts, including sampling, purging of inorganic carbon, enter sample, oxidation, cooling, apart of gas/liquid and analysis of CO2. The program was compiled by programming language of Visual Basic as the control system. All of the action of the analyzer is auto controlled. Different samples are separated by worked air and Milli-Q water and enter the system using six-way valve. With the catalysis of ultraviolet radiation, the organic matter in samples can be oxidated to CO2 quantitatively by K2SO2O8 and analyzed by non-dispersive infrared (ndIR) detector latter. The results showed that the oxidation efficiency, as well as the detect limit and the veracity are satisfying. The home-made analyzer was compared with the high temperature oxidation method, and the results showed that the two methods have little difference. The cost of the instrument is cheaper, and need not expensive catalyst, so the DOC in seawater can be analyzed with much lower prices.

Multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) is a methodology for the design of complex engineering systems and subsystems that coherently exploits the synergism of mutually interacting phenomena. Because of the complex design space of the large-scale system MDO design problem and the serious conflicts between the different design objectives, there is the necessary to seek an objective, flexible, effective way to make multi-objective decision on MDO problem. In this paper, we describe the integration of Advanced Physical programming within Analytical Target Cascading framework to enable designers to formulate multiple system-level objectives in terms of physically meaningful parameters. The proposed formulation with the general integration of Advanced Physical programming and Analytical Target Cascading is used to handle with the multi-objective tradeoff problem in different levels. A mathematical example using MDO method demonstrates the proposed framework.

The discrete characteristic of data points leads to the visualization of three dimensional meshless method numerical results with difficulty. This paper proposes using three dimensional Delaunay tessellation, which constructs the background tetrahedron mesh from three dimensional data points, to visualize numerical results of meshless method with cloud contour by coloring the 4 triangular facets of each tetrahedron. Numerical examples which are performed by MATLAB programming demonstrate that the proposed method is able to generate high quality cloud contour efficiently.

Regression models are well known and widely used as one of the important categories of models in system modeling. In this paper, we extend the concept of fuzzy regression in order to handle real-time implementation of data analysis of information granules. An ultimate objective of this study is to develop a hybrid of a genetically-guided clustering algorithm called genetic algorithm-based Fuzzy C-Means (GA-FCM) and a convex hull-based regression approach being regarded as a potential solution to the formation of information granules. It is shown that a setting of Granular Computing helps us reduce the computing time, especially in case of real-time data analysis, as well as an overall computational complexity. We propose an efficient real-time information granules regression analysis based on the convex hull approach in which a Beneath-Beyond algorithm is employed to design sub convex hulls as well as a main convex hull structure. In the proposed design setting, we emphasize a pivotal role of the convex hull approach or more specifically the Beneath-Beyond algorithm, which becomes crucial in alleviating limitations of linear programming manifesting in system modeling.

Sequence alignment is one of the challenging problems in the analysis of biological data for identifying the diseases. Numbers of Sequence alignment algorithms are developed to identify highly scoring alignment between the sequences. Many of these sequence alignment algorithms use Dynamic programming technique. In this paper a new algorithm, namely, Multiple Sequence Alignment using Particle Swarm Optimization (MSAPSO) is proposed to multiple sequence alignment. This algorithm is developed using Particle Swarm Optimization technique instead of Dynamic programming technique. This algorithm works on both nucleotide sequences and protein sequences.
