Some applications require fast queries on big tables whose rows are as large as one billion. If we store table data without any compression on disks, the operation of loading the table data into host memory itself costs quite a long time. To speed up queries, we resort to data compression. Table data is first compressed before being saved to disks. In the query stage, compressed data is loaded into host memory, decompressed and then accessed. To speed up decompressing, we make use of the massively parallel capability of GPU devices. In order to make full use of the GPU computing resources, GPU kernels should avoid divergent execution as much as possible, and should make efficient use of the GPU local memory. Guided by these criteria, we have designed a GPU decompression algorithm. Its basic idea is to decompose the decompression task into a few sequential basic operations, and then accomplish each basic operation parallel by using GPU threads. Experiments showed that the average throughput rate of the decompression algorithm implemented with OpenCL could reach to 13.12 GB/s when using AMD RX 6600. The reduced loading time and decompression time significantly improved the query speed in the query stage. © 2023 SPIE.

Beyond-planarity [24, 28] has been developed in the areas of graph drawing and topological graph theory as a core topic. Planar graphs have been a key class here since several decades, although most of the graphs in practical applications are not planar at all. We show how, given a sufficiently large point cloud sampled from an embedded 2-manifold in n, we may obtain a global representation of the embedded manifold as a cell complex with vertices given by a representative subset of the point cloud. We apply a known projection based approach (into approximations of tangent planes) from the studies of surface reconstruction and computer graphics, and we extend this with the application of techniques from topological graph theory for the purpose of topological identification of the sampled surface. We apply our methods to samples taken from orientable and nonorientable surfaces. Since our new approach is based on a cell complex rather than a triangulation, it does not derive from or apply Vornoi diagrams or any Delaunay structure. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Deep neural networks (DNNs) are memory and computationally intensive;hence they are difficult to apply to real-time systems with limited resources. Therefore, the DNN models need to be carefully optimized. The solution was a model based on a convolutional neural network (CNN) called MobileNet that decreases the computational and space complexities with classification precision loss by utilizing depthwise separable convolutions. This study uses MobileNet vl architecture to improve image classification complexities to reach an acceptable complexity that can be used in real-time applications that require a hasty response from the model. In this study, the MobileNet model was trained on a dataset consisting of 5000 images to be classified into the 5 human face shapes oval, square, heart, oblong, and round. The model has an F1-score of 0.781, recall of 0.782, precision of 0.78, and achieved an accuracy of 98.8%. With this level of accuracy, a real-time application that is result-driven would benefit significantly from this model. © 2022 IEEE.

Technologies that monitor human health, diagnose health problems, or contribute to the study of brain functions and translate them into commands in the pursuit of finding replacements for those who have lost limbs to improve their lives are techniquesworth studying. Today, the Neuroimaging technique functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) has become one of the pioneering technologies in various applications, especially in the medical field, and this technology has gone through major events and attracted the attention of researchers for numerous and diverse studies. Considering recent indications for this method, a brief review highlights the state-of-the-art of this method and offers various recent uses of its directions toward clinical application scenarios, in particular in the field of artificial limbs and neurological rehabilitation. In addition, this review provides insight into the expected uses of this method shortly. The research methodology included the theory of fNIRS, its basic principles, systems, and its relationship with other neuroimaging methods considering contemporary scientific modernity. Among hundreds of scientific publications, the selection of popular and fruitful research and articles related to the subject of review and their analysis led to beneficial results. Monitoring, diagnosing, and finding solutions to physical problems may fall a great deal on the responsibility of this technique, which is still in the circle of modern scientific research that has yielded discoveries even at the expense of the challenges it faces by combining it with another technology to fill its inherent flaw, which means encouraging the expansion of future studies of this technology, which may be the most promising technology for several clinical applications shortly.

This paper proposes to design and implement GPU virtualization on the Private Cloud Desktop merged into the Teaching and Practical Platform of Zhijiang College of Zhejiang University of Technology to fill in the blanks to create and apply rending 3D applications. The analysis of the performance of the vGPUPCD has been also studied in this paper and some properties has to be tested on the experiments: 1) The video memory size of vGPU has been interaction with the memory size and the amounts of CPU cores and the minimum resources requirement has to be evaluated by experiments that the memory size is the memory size of system demand and add to the twice of the GPU video memory size and the 1G video memory of vGPU is equipped with 2 virtual CPU cores and so on. 2) The GPU memory usage of vGPUPCD has consumed 10% more than the local PCs if the same performance are reflected when opening or rending the 3D applications because vGPU has occupied no more than 10% of the GPU memory usage through the cloud desktop is powered on. © 2022 IEEE.

This research presents a novel approximation accurate value of analysis of the nonlinear vibration to evaluate the frequency of sandwich plates that have both functionally graded parts and porosities. Kinematic relations are created and controlled differential equations by making use of the first ordinal differential shear deformation theory. It is assumed that the FGM plates are made of an isotropic material with a porosity distribution consistent over its whole surface. Under the power-law scheme, the only direction in which the qualities of the material fluctuate smoothly is in the direction of thickness. Various variables, including gradient indices, boundary conditions, distribution of porosity and geometrical attributes, are subjected to analyses to determine the effect these alterations have on the parameter of nonlinear vibration of sandwich plates with FG surfaces. Employing the FOSD theory, researchers conduct a thorough numerical examination. The results obtained with a variety of boundary conditions illustrate the distribution of porosity and the nonlinear vibration properties exhibited by FG sandwich plates. The evidence presented here demonstrated that the FOSD theory and the approximation technique had a reasonable agreement with one another. In this work, the FOSD theory was used by deriving the equations for extracting the natural frequency and response of the nonlinear vibration of the functionally graded materials with porosity distribution for one material. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The Internet and Web services have developed significantly since their inception. Web Services standardize data flow between programs. Service-Oriented architectural (SOA) is a software architectural strategy for designing applications that use network services like the web to convey data. I'll introduce web services and SOA theory well. Web services offer standardized data flow between applications, improving system compatibility and integration. Web services using SOA are designed as a set of services that other applications may utilize inside and outside an organization's network. This technique allows services to be designed, deployed, and updated separately and reused across applications, increasing flexibility and scalability. When exchanging data between applications, two standards - REST HTTP and SOAP/WSDL web services - are used. The former provides a uniform interface, self-descriptive messages, and resource identification through URIs, while the latter uses an XML-based protocol and is platform- and language-agnostic. This study carefully compares SOAP and REST web service delivery techniques and examines security issues. This article addresses web service WSDL document security issues and provides a cryptographic way to protect them using the WSSecurity standard. WSDL documents contain sensitive information, hence web service security must be addressed. Cryptography and WS-Security can protect application data. © 2023 IEEE.

Texture synthesis is a challenging problem in computer vision that aims to generate realistic and diverse images of surface patterns for applications like game development and 3D rendering. Existing methods often suffer from limitations such as low resolution, lack of details, unnatural artifacts, and inability to capture complex and periodic patterns. In this paper, we investigate each of these obstacles in a novel application of StyleGAN2-ADA, a state-of-the-art generative adversarial network (GAN), to a proprietary custom dataset (BWW-Texture) for synthesizing high-quality textures. We create a large and comprehensive dataset of texture images from three categories: wood, brick wall, and plastered wall. We train StyleGAN2-ADA on our dataset using transfer learning techniques from a pre-trained model on human faces (FFHQ). We evaluate the quality of the generated textures using a user study. Our model outperformed two popular text-based image generators: Dall. E 2 and Stable Diffusion 2.1. We also demonstrate the practicality of our model by using the generated textures in 3D graphics software. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper we present an improved version of MAUI [9] (MAUI - Maintenance Assistance User Interface), extending the user-study, giving detailed insight into the implementations and introducing a new User-Interface for mobile use. MAUI is a novel take on tele-assisted tasks on cyber-physical systems. In its core we do not only provide real-time communication between workers and experts, but also allow an expert to have full control over the worker's user-interface. By precisely separating levels of our software-stack, we enable features like hot-patching and hot-loading of any content or web-based application. Our results show reduced error-rate on task performance once an expert takes over virtual task to relieve the worker. Conditions evaluated include the worker operating on his own and the worker being actively supported. While in operation gauges have to be read, switches to be press and virtual user-interfaces of machinery have to be controlled. Furthermore, we explore the creation of user-interfaces through a developer-study and use the feedback to create a mobile version of MAUI.
