Facial expression recognition is a hot research direction in the field of pattern recognition andcomputervision. In this paper, the images of customer's face are used to detect the facial expression in them to enhance the customer based services. The convolution neural network using the VGG-16 architecture is used as the deep learning model which extracts essential features in an image and enables us to recognize the expression of the customer. A customer service system architecture is designed using two neural networks, a convolution neural networks using the VGG-16 architecture our baseline and the Google cloud platform vision application program interface to explore the needs of different models based on the client usage.

This paper presents a system to monitor the wear process in machines using computervision andimageprocessing techniques applied to wear particle analysis. Particles are classified using their visual attributes to predict wear failure modes in engines and other machinery. The aim of the current work is to develop an automated system to classify wear particles and thereby predict wear failure modes in engines and other machinery, such that it obviates the need for specialists and reliance on human visual inspection techniques. The paper describes an interactive control system CAVE (computer Aided vision Engineering) in terms of the stages involved in processing data to acquire morphological features of wear particles from microscopic images and their automatic classification.

image stitching is an imageprocessing method, where multiple photographs covering different parts of the same scene, are combined to form a single wide-angle image. Stitching is a very challenging task, and during the past decades many algorithms have been developed for it. Unfortunately, there has been no objective way to measure the quality of stitching results. To mend this shortcoming, we propose a novel method for testing stitching algorithms. The testing process starts from an arbitrary reference image that is used to create synthetic input data for the stitching algorithm that is to be tested. To make the testing realistic, various camera-related distortions along with perspective warps are applied to the input images. From this input data, the stitching algorithm creates a wide-angle image that is then compared to the reference image, from which the process started.

Its importance necessitates the quantitative evaluation of image segmentation results. A few methods have been developed, based on the general principals. In this paper, we propose a novel segmentation evaluation method based on region cardinality ratio and variance. It addresses the limitations in the prior methods and attempts to remove them. The results of our method are superior to the prior quantitative segmentation evaluation techniques due to the explicit usage of inter-cluster relation.

The algorithm consists of a special pre-processing sub-algorithm, gray level image segmentation (the Suk & Chung similarity algorithm), background split and merge of small regions sub-algorithm, and segmentation algorithm based on shape analysis (merge and split).The developed algorithms have been tested in a laboratory and works satisfactory.
