With recent technological advancements, modern societies are becoming more and more dependent on the automated machines. It is in order to cope with their fast-going lives. Modern automated machines adapt their sequence of actions depending on their environment and events. The FSM (Finite state machine) is used to mathematically express those sequences of actions or instructions. In this article two FSM machines types, Moore and Mealy, are discussed. Showing different results in order to demonstrate the importance of FSM modeling. An edge detector circuit is designed by employing both Moore and Mealy machines. It is a FSM design example, can be used for students concepts building and demonstration. These designs are implemented in VHDL. A comparison is also made based on both implementations.

Go-Motion: An Android Application Detecting Motion Gestures for Generating Basic Mobile Phone Commands Utilizing Kanade-Lucas-Tomasi (KLT) Algorithm is an application designed to facilitate a natural way of communication with machines, specifically, Android mobile phones, by using hand gestures. The research aims to provide an alternative way of using command on phone by implementing imageprocessing techiques. The researchers used hand gestures to possibly communicate with the mobile device. The application stores a hand gesture and re-label the hand gesture as a phone command. The application uses the feature point extraction methods of KLT algorithm to detect the static gestures of the hand to call applications installed on the phone. ISO-9126 software evaluation criteria was used to the application and resulted as very satisfactory. The research recommends to enhance the accurateness of this process, whereas when a saved hand gesture opens a new application.

images can substantially change their appearance and shape when they are acquired using different modalities, with lighting variations or at widely different viewpoints. Even with the state-of-the-art technology, e.g., the generalized dual-bootstrap iterative closest point (GDB-ICP) method, it is still difficult to register those challenging images. To handle this issue, this paper proposes a novel log-polar feature guided iterative closest point (LPF-ICP) method for image registration. In particular, by taking log-polar (LP) image features (including corners and bulbs) as seed, the LPF-ICP method first forms the initial bootstrap regions and the related similar transformation via the matching of LP seeds. Then, driven by the single-scale Harris features (including corners and edges), the proposed method gradually expands the bootstrap regions and updates the transformation estimate until the regions cover the entire image overlap. Finally, the experimental evaluation shows that the LPF-ICP method succeeds in registering all the 22image pairs contained in the Rensselaer dataset, while the GDB-ICP method only succeeds 19 of them.

Visible and infrared images are essential for electrical inspection robots to detect equipment or components. Here how to combine these two kinds of information is a critical problem. image registration is one of the necessary processing procedures. While used in practice, traditional intensity-based or feature-based registration methods appear many deficiencies such as low accuracy, low reliability or low speed. In this paper, we propose an efficient registration method based on the quadrilateral features of electrical equipment. Contour and straight line detection technology is utilized to reconstruct the quadrilateral structural information of the monitoring object from original images. Experimental results indicate that our proposed registration method can align visible and infrared images fast with high accuracy and be less likely to be influenced by image quality or other irrelevant objects.

Anthropometry is mostly conducted by the tailors as well as interior designers. This study aims to develop Digital Anthropometry for Human Body Measurement Using OpenCV on Android Platform which automatically measures human body using android phone. These body parts to be measured are represented by a marker;shoulder width, sleeve length, body length, back-waist length, back-neck-to-cuff, cross-back, outseam and inseam. For the accuracy, the distance requirement of the device is 30 inches away from the subject for upper body and 62 inches for the lower body. The required color shirt of the subject is a white and black pants or shorts, the required background color is white and bright surrounding is required.

The security is key concern in our daily life. A key protected access control module is an elementary part of all security systems. It allows only the authorized people to enter into a restricted zone. This work focuses on the design and development of a digital code lock system with display for students demonstration purpose. Being designed for illustration purpose, the system has easily accessible inputs and outputs to each module. In order to keep the system cost effective with an ease of reimplementation. The low cost and easily market available discrete analog components are employed. The digital part is kept configurable with the help of a microcontroller based implementation. It allows an easy alteration of the master code in order to improvethe system security. The digital module implementation is done via C language. The system implementation is described. Testing results are also presented. These results assure a proper functionality of the designed system.
