The widespread use vision systems in robotics introduces a number of challenges related to management of image acquisition andimageprocessing tasks, as well as their coupling to the robot control function. With the proliferation of more distributed setups and flexible robotic architectures, the workflow of image acquisition needs to support a wider variety of communication styles and application scenarios. This paper presents FxIS, a flexible image acquisition service targeting distributed robotic systems with event-based communication. The principal idea a FxIS is in composition of a number of execution threads with a set of concurrent data structures, supporting acquisition from multiple cameras that is closely synchronized in time, both between the cameras and with the request timestamp.

The metals and alloys find vast application in engineering and domestic sectors. The mechanical properties of the metals and alloys are influenced by their microstructure. Hence the microstructural investigation is very critical. Traditionally the microstructure is studied using optical microscope with suitable metallurgical preparation. The past few decades the computers are applied in the capture and analysis of the optical micrographs. The advent of computer softwares like digital imageprocessing andcomputervision technologies are a boon to the analysis of the microstructure. In this paper the literature study of the various developments in the microstructural analysis, is done. The conventional optical microscope is complemented by the use of Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and other high end equipments.

vision based advance driver assistance system (ADAS) completely rely on the images captured by the vehicle bound camera. vision based ADAS also referred as computervision based ADAS depends on clear images from surroundings for its algorithm implementation. If the images are hampered from external weather conditions such as rain or fog, the ADAS functionalities are affected. In general, checking the image, whether it is free from raindrop occlusions is one of the steps in the pre-processing, as clear, noise free images are required for ADAS algorithm deployments, which would enhance the ADAS functionalities. In ADAS, generically raindrop occlusions is identified by comparing two successive images then sorting analysis using displacement formulae or by identifying them typically based on photometric or geometric properties of raindrop. The computation time and the accuracy for these approaches are trade off factors. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to detect the raindrop, where detection is performed using thresholding and feature transform only on single frame. The approach reduces the computation time and memory resource, executing only on current frame. Once the raindrop occlusion is affirmed, an interrupt is sent to the concurrent algorithm about the occlusions and abort the same. To retrieve the region from occlusion we follow one of the generic method employing Gauss filter.
