computervision involves image edge detection which is crucial in outline capturing systems for decomposing and describing an object. This paper presents a scalable parallel algorithm skeleton for outline capturing and object recognition based on first order difference chain encoding. UNIX based Intel Xeon 2-Quadra-Core system is used for the implementation of the parallel algorithm. The algorithm complexity of the averaging process is independent of the size of image and, the speedup of the proposed parallel algorithm is observed to be near linear. The parallel processing approach presented here can be extended to solve similar problems such as, image representation, restoration, compression, matching etc.

Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is the third leading cause of blindness and the first one in the elderly. AMD usually causes vision loss as the central vision field, e.g., vision scotoma, blur, and distortion, et. al. In this paper, we propose to detect AMD caused vision scotoma through eye tracking. Compared with the current vision assessment methods, e.g., Amsler grid, Microperimetry and Preferential Hyperacuity Perimetry, the proposed method has several advantages. 1) It does not require the patient to stare at a fixed position throughout the test. 2) It does not require the patient to orally or manually report / mark out the vision impairment. 3) It is easy to operate thus a trained nurse is capable of operating the test. To implement the proposed method, we collected gaze data of 138 eyes of 75 patients, who are diagnosed as AMD patient by clinicians. Nidek Microperimetry is adopted as the gold standard to get the ground truth and to evaluate our method. The result verifies the effectiveness of detecting vision scotoma through eye tracking.

To acquire the fruit region of green apple image in close color more completely, this work designed a method of region extraction before fruit region combination. Firstly, channel images in every color space were analyzed to determine appropriate color channel images: images of G and b color channel in RGB and Lab color spaces, respectively. Then, these images were segmented by K-means clustering to obtain segmented images of G and b color channel. Postprocessing was conducted to different segmentation results. For example, open operation and micro-region elimination were conducted to segmented image of G color channel. The same processing was conducted to b color channel image after combining with above processed G color channel image and filling holes. Therefore, the target fruit region can be acquired completely. The validity of this method was verified by experiment.

Recent evidence suggests that intelligent vehicle camera calibration is among the most important factors for achieving automobile intelligent, and how to carry out rapid calibration of intelligent vehicle camera has become a research hotspot. In this paper, we utilize the aperture imaging model and the perspective projection principle, and adopt a trilinear method to realize the automatic calibration of the external parameters of the intelligent vehicle camera. The article mainly introduces how to use the imageprocessing technology to realize the automatic calibration of the intelligent vehicle camera. At the end of this paper, a simple calibration method for increasing security is proposed. The reliability of the proposed automatic calibration method is verified by a large number of tests.

The problem of automation of the product traceability processes within the technological process has now become of major importance. The most common traceability method is based on optical identification implemented by various markings application to the product surface. Such markings can contain a wide variety of information that allows one to determine the parameters of the raw materials, the manufacturer, the technological operations already performed and much more. In this case, the degree of readability of such markings can be used by a human operator as a recognition criterion. The paper presents an algorithm for optical character recognition to determine the marking of steel sheets used in the pipe and tube rolling industry. This algorithm was used for the development of the system of technical vision (STV) and implemented in the C# programming language with the use of specialized Emgu CV libraries. The main difficulties encountered in the recognition of marking elements as well as the methods for their elimination are considered in the paper.

Stereo matching is one of the key steps of 3D reconstruction based on binocular vision. In order to improve the convergence speed and accuracy in 3D reconstruction based on binocular vision, this paper adopts the combination method of polar constraint and ant colony algorithm. By using the line constraint to reduce the search range, an ant colony algorithm is used to optimize the stereo matching feature search function in the proposed search range. Through the establishment of the stereo matching optimization process analysis model of ant colony algorithm, the global optimization solution of stereo matching in 3D reconstruction based on binocular vision system is realized. The simulation results show that by the combining the advantage of polar constraint and ant colony algorithm, the stereo matching range of 3D reconstruction based on binocular vision is simplified, and the convergence speed and accuracy of this stereo matching process are improved.

Pruning of indeterminate tomato plants is vital for a profitable yield and it still remains a manual process. There has been research in automated pruning of grapevines, trees, and other plants, but tomato plants have yet to be explored. Wage increases are contributing to the depleting profits of greenhouse tomato farmers. In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of automating the process of finding greenhouse tomato pruning points. The algorithm proposed in this work can preprocess the image, classify the skeleton, calculate the intersection point statistics, identify, and mark the suckers read in the image with a 97% true positive detection rate using a dataset with 100 images.
